after all the recent fuss about the police & bfing in public, i'm wondering what the best thing to say to them would've been??
quite sure i'd have been too shocked/spitting angry to say anything useful or withering at the time...so what d'you reckon would be the best retort??

(partly so i can save them up for future reference... )

I fear I wouldn't not be able to resist the urge to swear like a Jerry Srpinger guest at him/her! I'd be so utterly furious!

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 24/11/2005 10:06

F* off.

Probably followed up by, don't you think you should be preventing crime somewhere you stupid, ignorant, useless jobsworth.

I best leave this thread now. The more I think about it, the more cross it makes me

GREATauntymandy · 24/11/2005 10:07

whats this about?

Caligyulea · 24/11/2005 10:10

"So arrest me"

hunkermunker · 24/11/2005 10:10

Think I'd have asked whether there were no people actually breaking the law for him to chase.

Avalon · 24/11/2005 10:10

Say - What law am I breaking, officer?
Whilst thinking something else entirely.

Be polite and appreciate that some people cannot abide b/f for whatever polluted reason
While contemplating twisting his balls in a vice
Fancy thinking a complaint about b/f in public warranted his to appraoch a mother ffs.
Maybe it is time to getthe right to b/f enshrined in law in England?
It is so discreet, you could only see if you were really looking.
I'm offended by what teenagers around here wear on weekends, but I would not report them to the cops, even though I can see their nipples clearly through sheer tops and right through their bloody thongs.
Honestly

roosmum · 24/11/2005 13:22

gotta be some more smart replies out there...

nbg, i'm after something to make them squirm, not a full on confrontation with the cops

OP posts:
piffle · 24/11/2005 15:55

Well if it was a man who reported the complaint you cold fire one harge back of voyeurism cos you'd have to look long and hard and closely at a b/f womans norks in order to glimpse the flesh.

edam · 24/11/2005 15:58

Like 'what law am I breaking, officer?'. Followed by 'now, bog off and find some crime to deal with'.

jinglinggoblin · 24/11/2005 16:01

i would ask him to put it in writing so i can prove what he has just said when i make my complaint.

Gobbledigook · 24/11/2005 16:10

I wouldn't have a go at the policeman at all but I would point out that I wasn't committing any crime and that the person complaining was a bit sad to do so.

Then I'd go home, tell a few people about it probably and laugh and then...I'd MOVE ON!!!

Sheesh.

slug · 24/11/2005 16:37

Say "Excuse me while I ring my lawyer for advice" Then phone dd's fairy godfather who's a lawyer and very, very posh

beachyhead · 24/11/2005 16:51

I'd squirt him in the eye by mistake......

Gobbledigook · 24/11/2005 16:53

Er, probably not wise to tell a police officer to fuck off either!

IntergalacticTheRedNosedWalrus · 24/11/2005 16:53

PMSL beachy!!!!!

I'd ask if he had any good remedies for cracked nipples

hatstand · 24/11/2005 17:04

am I to glean from this that a police officer approached someone for b-fg in public ? unbeflukcinglievable. I'd be so gobsmacked I would be completely incapable of response. but I'd go the media - which is presumably what happened. And I'd be tempted to organise a mass protest breast-feed at whatever venue (must have been somewhere public)it was. Wouldn't take much to find 100 odd local mums to sit in a shopping centre and wop their boobs out (except you don't wop them out contrary to some people's beliefs)

collision · 24/11/2005 17:29

I would have said, 'As long as you are joking then that is fine!'

What a lot of tosh!

ladymuck · 24/11/2005 17:44

"I can understand that if I failed to feed my baby you could arrest me for child neglect, but I fail to understand the nature of this crime?

But if you are now just acting on any complaints, rather than following up actual crimes, then can I complain about all the 4x4s with personalised numberplates outside of ds1's school? Perhaps you could ask them to move as they offend me and the environment"

Jackstini · 24/11/2005 17:48

I would say - "I presume you have come to apologise on their behalf for their ignorance then. Also I hope you told the complainant how wrong they were and if they lived in Scotland it is illegal to interfere with or stop a woman breastfeeding...."

Rachey1969 · 24/11/2005 18:12

echo absolutely everything you have all said - it makes my blood boil! I think I would have said, why don't you raid WHSmith for all those Nuts/loaded magazine covers that I find far far more offensive! They are showing more tit than I am!!!

Pixiefish · 24/11/2005 18:15

i'd have asked for details of which law i was breaking

MistleToo · 24/11/2005 18:17

can I just say - you don't have to be breaking the law for a police officer to speak to you!

aloha · 24/11/2005 18:21

This wasn't 'good morning madam, how are you' though was it.
Would have loved to tell him to piss off and leave me alone, but would probably have been very upset and mortified.
