Well, I hope I don't get flung off for this! For those of you who don't know (as discussed on the 'Eastenders' thread, for some unknown reason!) I was sent an email of 200 song lyrics from the 1980's, the idea being to name the song title and performer (Never Mind the Buzzcocks style). Me and my friend's did okay-ish and we had great fun saying 'Oh, I'm sure I know this one...' and singing them all (loudly and badly). I figured if we can have an Eastenders thread then surely a little light entertainment such as this will be allowed? I hope it provokes a lively discussion though...?! I've put the first 24 on for now and if you like them I can cut and paste the rest, sound fair?! Enjoy.....

My job is very boring I’m an office clerk
First she’ll take your pride; turn it on its side

Some way after midnight in my wildest fantasies
Don’t say you’re easy on me

My head is in a spin. My feet don’t touch the ground

I never did good things. I never did bad things
We are the ones that make a brighter day
So he told it all and, in return, he got a credit card and a Thunderbird

And if you say run, I’ll run to you

Ronnie Kray, do you know my name?

What do you think? Can’t think at all.
You won’t settle down, you’ve got both feet off the ground

All we wanted to do is have a good time, then they went and took our house away

Imagination never lets us take the blame
Don’t need no credit card to ride this train
I’ve been to paradise

All the world is football shaped, its just for me to kick its face

He’s his family’s pride and joy, his mother’s little Golden Boy

Where do we go from here? Is it down to the lake I fear?

Across the Serengeti

Hand in hand is the only way to land and always the right way round

I’ve got this feeling of emotion, a sudden sense of liberty

All I wanted was a word

We’re not going to live in silence, we’re not going to live in fear

Have been playing my old Erasure tape in the car while doing the school runs this week. I feel the hair on the back of my neck stand up as I listen to my old favs - 'Chains of love', 'Sometimes' and 'Respect' - reminds me of my mis-spent youth - was very much into Erasure as a 'gal' (stopped short of wearing the rubber leotard though, you'll be relieved to hear!).

It makes me laugh when I hear the kids in the back of the car joining in with the songs AND singing the right words - I think I'm heading back into 'pointless things you teach your kids' territory here...

dh's niece looked in horror at her mam (she's 35) when she was singing along to the soundtrack of Grease (I love Grease its one of my favourite films) saying how did she know about Grease as it had only just come out - this was only the other year when it was the 21st birthday of its release!! Funny enough when it was released the first time round when I was 12 my Dad was laughing saying Frankie Valli was ancient and was around in his day and I never believed him until years later. OK I now it wasn't quite the 80s the first time round but its so fantastic it deserved a mention.

Hi give me a day or two and I'll get the 90's quiz up, I promise
