I love the 1980's - song lyrics!!

Well, I hope I don't get flung off for this! For those of you who don't know (as discussed on the 'Eastenders' thread, for some unknown reason!) I was sent an email of 200 song lyrics from the 1980's, the idea being to name the song title and performer (Never Mind the Buzzcocks style). Me and my friend's did okay-ish and we had great fun saying 'Oh, I'm sure I know this one...' and singing them all (loudly and badly). I figured if we can have an Eastenders thread then surely a little light entertainment such as this will be allowed? I hope it provokes a lively discussion though...?! I've put the first 24 on for now and if you like them I can cut and paste the rest, sound fair?! Enjoy.....

My job is very boring I’m an office clerk
First she’ll take your pride; turn it on its side

Some way after midnight in my wildest fantasies
Don’t say you’re easy on me

My head is in a spin. My feet don’t touch the ground

I never did good things. I never did bad things
We are the ones that make a brighter day
So he told it all and, in return, he got a credit card and a Thunderbird

And if you say run, I’ll run to you

Ronnie Kray, do you know my name?

What do you think? Can’t think at all.
You won’t settle down, you’ve got both feet off the ground

All we wanted to do is have a good time, then they went and took our house away

Imagination never lets us take the blame
Don’t need no credit card to ride this train
I’ve been to paradise

All the world is football shaped, its just for me to kick its face

He’s his family’s pride and joy, his mother’s little Golden Boy

Where do we go from here? Is it down to the lake I fear?

Across the Serengeti

Hand in hand is the only way to land and always the right way round

I’ve got this feeling of emotion, a sudden sense of liberty

All I wanted was a word

We’re not going to live in silence, we’re not going to live in fear

- The late, great Kirsty McColl & the Pogues/Fairytale of New York
- Electric Dreams (artist???)

Thanks, Lizzer. :-)This is just what everyone needs. I'm only on the Internet at work, so missed all the kerfuffle that went on at the weekend. I got the jist reading through that it was all pretty unpleasant, so glad I missed it.

Lizzer · 29/10/2001 11:27

I'm such a slacker, completely forgot about these last lot, sorry! This week's just flown by and we are in the early throes of potty training - argh! So to complete the 200, here are the rest...

He’s got to have big blue eyes, be able to satisfy
Waving to the girls, feeling out of sight
Children smiling in the street are gone without a trace
Played it till my fingers bled
Blue jeans and chinos, Pepsi and Oreos
Wrap me in designer sheets I still can’t get enough
When I was I boy, Mama used to say, don’t stay out too late
You-oo-oo, You’ve been gone for so long
Just walk away, I don’t want you seeing me crying
I’d like to take her home, you know it’s understood
He used to give me roses, I wish he could again
It’s me again now how did you guess, ‘cos last time you were really impressed
I’m flying high like a rocket in the sky
Look at me standing here on my own again
Where’s my wife and family?
You like to think that you’re immune to this stuff
Cut me a heart on a tree and see
Strangled by the wishes of pater
I will surely miss your tender kiss
When I die and they lay me to rest I’m going to go to the place that’s the best
Too many people take second best but I won’t take anything less
And the butterflies in me arise slowly we make love
I am an ocean wave my love
You called me Clive….Alex is the name I go by
I will decide when I go or I don’t go
A statistical reminder of a world that doesn’t care
The truth is harder than the pain inside
You’re looking good today, looking good in every way
Hey Baby what you trying to say
You don’t have to say you love me, you don’t have to say you care
Daddy daddy if you could only see just how good he’s been treating me
In my imagination there is no complication
Reminds me of childhood memories
You’ve got beautiful chin, you’ve got beautiful skin
Hey there you with the sad face
I’m going crazy just to let you know – you’ll be amazed how much I love you so
Throughout the night, though my mind she runs
There’s an old piano and it’s playing hop
Too much fighting on the dance floor
Or in the streets of Brazil
None of them received a hero’s welcome
A place where nobody dared to go the love we can came to know
I don’t know why sometimes I get frightened
It’s like a jungle out there, sometimes it makes me wonder how I keep from going under
Woke up in the morning and my love was gone
Anger is an energy

Nata, that's a pretty weird co-incidence isn't it, I'm sorry for keeping you in suspense for so long, forgive me!

As for the answers, I can post them up if people want? Or just post the link (well Jodee can as I don't DO clever stuff like that!) What do you want folks, the choice is yours?

OP posts:
Jodee · 29/10/2001 18:52

Weeeell, I COULD ... but then you would all have the answers to the I Love the 1990's Quiz, and I'm sure you would all love to clock up some more non-chargeable hours at work trying to figure those out!

So Lizzer can cut and paste the answers and then get you pulling your hair out with the next quiz!!!!!
