Have noticed this lately - and ToadintheHole, I'm going to apologise straight off, because you've just done it to my name, but it's not an attack on you, it's been bugging me for days - lots of @username when addressing someone.

Now, I'm assuming that this has some technical necessity on Twitter (don't touch the stuff, myself), but what's wrong with just username, without the @. If you say my name, I know you're addressing me. I really do.

Oh, well, turns out something good came out of this - reminded me to look up AI on twitter, and discovered that today you can get free download of Charm Offensive via Guardian.

For a long time as a new Twitterer I wondered whether 'RT' was some odd sub-cultural reference to the Radio Times.

What is RT? Real Time?

RT is 'retweet' -- i.e. you pick up one of the things that didn't really need to be said but have been said anyway in too few characters, and then you say it again.

... this time in even fewer characters so that you can fit in 'RT' to let everyone know that the thing that didn't really need to be said is being said for the second time.

I'm so tempted to go onto Twitter and open an account in the name of FellatioNelson just so I can spout my drivel under your name and keep my blinding flashes of plagiarism inspiration for my own account.

I'm wondering if I should just be FN on there and be done with it. God knows why I think I need to cover my very uninteresting tracks anyway, and I can always put a photo of Martine McCutcheon on my profile just to throw everyone off the scent.

And with a name like Fellatio Nelson how could India and Caitlin resist me?

Can I change it now though- will my legions of loyal followers of one day get confused? They'll know it's me obviously wut will they know I've switched from the other one?
