Kandoo wipes warning!

I spent a lovely afternoon yesterday with the plumbers from Dyno Rod watching them pull out kandoo wipes from my toilet system using tweezers! We had a drainage problem and ended up having to call them in. They plumber told me that his business had never been so good since kandoo wipes were invented. Apparantly they take 5 weeks to break down and only the newest plumbing systems can cope with the "abuse" (his term). He also warned me about the parazone toilet wipes (we use these sometimes) and quilted toilet paper. And he said he was waiting with bated breathe since he saw those new adds for those things to wipe your toilet with that you then release the brush thing and flush away.

We now have put a ban on kandoo wipes going down the loo and will put a bin (with lockable lid) in the bathroom for their disposal instead.

And I will say, my son does not have unsupervised toilet time so this is not a result of him thorwing too many wipes down the toilet - we are the ones who do the wiping.

Anyway, I hope this saves someone else the lovely afternoon I had yesterday.

moondog, usually buy liners from boots, they changed from boots to some other type and now their back to boots which I don't like at all, Always put in nappy sack and then in bin which i don't like doing but there we go.

Well I think this is outragous. If they are not flushable then they shouldn't be marketed as flushable.

Just sent them an email [email protected] and blooming asked them whats going on. The last thing we all want is to block our drains up.

PS. Also, what the heck is that pampers washmit all about. Don't tell me anyone has bought one?

Moondog - Kandoos are used for potty training and beyond, so a flannel is a no go. But what is wrong with usual toilet paper you may ask?

teeavee · 01/09/2005 22:00

I just had the plumber unblock the toilet because of baby wipes as well. Not put there by DD but by husband - after having had an argument about exactly that earlier this week! Obviously no more baby wipes in the toilet, so I'm thinking lockable bin, but after searching for them online the only ones that come up seem to be 30L, which is maybe a bit big for the bathroom... Anyone know a solution to this problem?
