A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

There's plenty left in the pot if anyone else would like some.

I am in wellie heaven at the moment as I bought some fabulous new ones yesterday to cope with the snow. My ankle-length ones were inadequate to the task!

amber32002 · 04/02/2009 17:34

I've been coping on the ice in my hiking boots but in a very nervous way since my sense of balance is dreadful in real life. It better be ice-free by Saturday. I've got to get to a conference.

DontCallMeBaby · 04/02/2009 17:37

Oh blimey, will be back later to catch up - for now I am cooking toad in the hole and have to go and read the news later. DD is writing a letter 'to mi famley' and I can't wait to see what it says! It seems to involve some 'luv', which is a good sign.

Catita · 04/02/2009 17:52

Have some tea Amber from this very delightful and extremely tasteful teapot made to look like the Sydney Harbour bridge...

Please please on the Paul Newman front. If Gorgeous George is a cardboard cut out, those of us who Mellor ignores (sniff.. ) need someone to console them every now and then.

Anyway we could always fit a door that doesn't let Bocca's mum in ... go on you know you want to

As in "The Sun will come out tomorrow"??

I never saw that (deprived childhood me), although I learnt all the songs in the playground and was forever being press ganged into being an orphan in a horrible place and saying "Yes Miss Flannigan" on cue.
Perhaps Justa can explain the Flannigans I never understood...

boccadellaverita · 04/02/2009 18:14

I never saw it either!

Catita · 04/02/2009 18:59

OOH is that a Youtube link... Thanks Bocca

I shall have to see it once I get home from work (YouTube is sadly blocked by the Uni, but MN strangely not. Perhaps it doesn't draw attention to itself being in English)

boccadellaverita · 04/02/2009 19:43

Catita - Yes it is. This is the song I most associate with Annie. I heard this version on the radio some time go.

UniS · 04/02/2009 19:46

what I'm watching now can be found here Lots of stuff I can't do with a cool french sound track. I'm off to teh tea room sports hall to practise. In my dreams.

teafortwo · 04/02/2009 19:48

T42 pops in and writes a note for rs and pops it against the wine rack - she will definately find it there ...

Hi Racingsnake,

Milk and I went to an exhibition on Jacques Prevert at Hotel de Ville yesterday. It was fab!

We spent a few of Milk's christmas book vouchers on...

Jacques Prévert Le Bateau La Terre Gallimard (petits geants collection)

It is quite sweet! Perhaps wrigglesnake would like it to?

All the best
See you soon
Love from Teafortwo x x x

That reminds me .... the local garden where there were unicycles (which first sparked my interest in getting one for me BabyBocca) will be open again this year. Once I start getting my gardening literature I feel that spring is almost sprung - although the deep snow is interfering with that at the moment!

I've just had a bucket of Harvey's Bristol Cream. Would anyone else care for a snifter?

mistlethrush · 04/02/2009 20:06

Yes please!

boccadellaverita · 04/02/2009 20:11

.

Just the ticket on a cold night, I always think!

mistlethrush · 04/02/2009 20:13

Particularly in a flagon such as this!

Donk · 04/02/2009 20:40

No, Quakers do not have top 'person' (or donkey) as such.
They have Clerks of meetings whose job it is to take the minutes (in peculiarly Quaker fashion), but the local meeting as a whole is responsible for running itself. Local meetings belong to Area Meetings which in turn belong to Britain Yearly Meeting (in Britain).

The carrots were lovely at lunch time! I must drop by for some more when I get the chance!

Hmmm - what happened there? Its a problem trying to operate the mouse with a hoof - must have clicked (or kicked) twice by mistake!

boccadellaverita · 04/02/2009 20:49

Do donkeys drink champagne?

mistlethrush · 04/02/2009 20:53

Bocca - I seem to have an empty glass/vase - could I have some?

Donk · 04/02/2009 20:53

No thanks Bocca - it has a most unfortunate effect on this Donkey - and I'd better go down and be sociable with FIL who has just arrived.
Nice thought though...

boccadellaverita · 04/02/2009 20:57

Certainly, Mistlethrush. And shall we crack open the twiglets as we haven't any for a while? After all, the first night in new premises merits a celebration!

daisy99divine · 04/02/2009 20:57

Want sherry please!

i am obviously feeling a bit raw and needy today. Having had mini crisis about work/ life/ play balance I am now needlessly upset by perfectly fair comment on another post that we don't hijack all one child threads by plugging the tea room

I would say I was pre-menstrual except that the reason I don't have 15 children I have been menopausal for so many years it can't be that
