A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

MB&DTK - did you meet Hen3ry there? is it linked to the Massachusetts state home for the bewildered?

Racingsnake · 05/02/2009 22:02

Is he male?? In RL he actually isn't. But then, that's the tea room for you.

MadBad, what do you think of the monster you created tea room?

Jacksmama · 05/02/2009 22:04

MadBad!!!!!! You're back!!!!!!!!! HI!!!!!!!

Were you released from the MumsNet Home for the Bewildered or are you AWOL?

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 05/02/2009 22:06

Oh, isn't this lovely. Champagne and chat, the ideal combination.

That's a very fetching cheerleader's outfit, Cmot. And those movements with the pompoms are very, err, creative. Not to mention athletic. No wonder you need to rest.

UniS - Yes, I used to spend a lot of time here last November. But then I had an unfortunate accident when someone swung open the oak stable-style door we had at the first tea room and I sustained a major concussion. So I haven't been around very much since then but my extremely good friend Bocca - a marvellous woman, I'm sure you'll agree, so talented, so intelligent and such a babe, even at her age - has been looking after things for me.

Thumbwitch - Yes indeed. Hen3ry is still in the sister home in Massachussetts, with which the MN home is twinned. In fact, Hn3ry is my penpal. When he's feeling especially affectionate, he signs himself Har3ry.

Is there any more of this delicious champagne?

UniS · 05/02/2009 22:07

well RP seemed to think HE was going to get back to burrowing the sofa or some such like. I'm only guessing but RP may know best on this subject- arn;t guinea pigs supposed to be very hard to gender.

One of boys friends has a GPig or two, quite cute lil criters. I'm not big on pets tho, they need looking after and you can't just drop every thing and run away for a weekend.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 05/02/2009 22:17

Racingsnake - Did I create a monster? Surely not!

Racingsnake · 05/02/2009 22:29

Forgot I was going to tell you all about my morning. Think the alcohol has dulled the pain.

I was just doing some heavy-duty hoovering under Dastardly and Mutley's cage, made necessay by their moulting and the fact that it is weeks since I did it, when the flexible tube on the enormously expensive steam vaccuum cleaner provided almost by MIL, jammed solid. I poked at it a bit with knives, pencils etc and couldn't shift the blockage, so I had the BRILLIANT idea of making a hook our of a coat hangar and pulling out the blockage.

Trouble was, the tube is flexible and soft and the hook bit jammed and wouldn't come out.

So I kept trying to push it in and pull it back and it wouldn't come back so I thought I would push it through and joined a second coat hangar to it. But after a foot or so it got stuck on the blockage and won't go either in or out.

So now I have about a meter length of coathangars jammed in the tube, I can't get them out and I'll have to replace the tube bit at £80!!

The pain has returned.

thumbwitch · 05/02/2009 22:30

I'll have some champers if it's still available, please...

Finally gave in and went up to DS - he was hanging over the bars of his cot, bless him, he doesn't lie down of his own accord so the silences were him dropping off (while hanging over the side) and then waking up again cos it's pretty uncomfy like that! So, a whole hour and he hadn't settled. I fed him and he's now out like a light, hopefully for a good few hours.

Good to know Hen3ry is going strong, MB&DTK!

cmotdibbler · 05/02/2009 22:31

How about getting a length of bamboo cane and poking the blockage from the other end ?

thumbwitch · 05/02/2009 22:33

racingsnake! that's not good. Does your vacuum cleaner have a "blow" setting? Can you blow the blockage out (and hopefully free the hangers)?

Racingsnake · 05/02/2009 22:51

Ahhhh! Didn't think of either of those! (extremely stupid emoticon) Please keep any good ideas coming.

zazen · 05/02/2009 22:53

I'd send in the marines racingsnake - or at the very least Dastardly and Mutley!

How are you jacksmama?
Any one for some more fizzy pop?

What is this zany thread of which you speak?

Racingsnake · 05/02/2009 22:54

Forgot. Hook is stuck in there. Think it is caught up on the rib things which support flexible tube.

Think best idea may be to arrange localised lightening strike to hit cleaner and erase evidence of stupidity.

racingpig · 05/02/2009 22:55

Looks up from a left over twiglet found on the floor...

I'd never really thought about my gender before.... wanders upstairs to find a hand-mirror!

mistlethrush · 05/02/2009 23:06

Did I hear mention of some champagne?

Good to see you MadBad, although I think Bocca has managed quite well in your absence... I hope you approve of the new premises.

teafortwo · 05/02/2009 23:26

Talking about her royal Boccaness.... where is Bocca tonight? -

daisy99divine · 06/02/2009 00:40

Wow! MadBad! How fantastic to see you dear, have you missed us or have you forgotten us?

Welcome oh Leaderene!

Racing I am amused by your interest. No, I am not a minor royal. I am the Queen. Heck, now you know.

Ok, no, I'm not the Queen. My job is not that rarified but it's the kind of job where (a) people have strong opinions about what you are like (usually deciding you are an arse) and (b) people like to google you and (c) my RL name is sufficiently unusual that it googles me...so I am a bit cautious of feeling too cosy in the tea room and forgetting that any old HGV driver called Barry could read, IYSWIM!

Racing I do love the hoover story. We had a squashed hoover incident of similar pain. Had to get new tube. Got one sent for nothing rather

oh, and Thumb you are right about daemons. You pick the right one for the people you work with.

We got a bit giggly when attributing the cockroaches and the weasels

I thought an ocelot was a bit like a cold weather stoat?

Catitainahatita · 06/02/2009 03:20

Well, if we are going to be visited by tearoom founding mother and royalty on the same day, someone better do a bit of cleaning up...

I'll start by cleaning up the empties then.

Sleep well ladies, hope to see you in here tomorrow.

Catitainahatita · 06/02/2009 03:24

PS. Racingsnake "gatitoensombrerito" , I know, it was the best I could do.

I could do with a better MN name, but am not the most imaginative of people

DontCallMeBaby · 06/02/2009 07:15

Looks like school is in today.

UniS, you are thinking of an axelotl, and Daisy is thinking of an ermine (?!) I think.

Why does RacingPig smell faintly of gin?

Blimey, I think DD has managed to switch off her alarm for once ... question is, is she going to get up ... yes!
