Well folks, here we are!

We were on the brink of filling the old thread so I thought we'd better start a new one now. There was a rumour that we were going to be evicted from our old premises, but we managed right at the last minute to get an extension on the lease. So it's business as usual. We're still in our charming old tea room, overlooking our beautiful garden complete with ha-ha and duck pond. And Mellors the gardener.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink.

I'm originally from Toronto. It's quite nice... just wasn't for me to live in, I love it much better here.

I know what you mean about the freezer, last time I forgot to label the meals, LOL!! They all froze to the same uniform colour so we had a few surprise dinners

mistlethrush · 16/01/2009 20:50

I'll have the bottle. Thanks....

Dh was kept in 'work' until about 4.45 this evening, despite the bank forclosing earlier in the day - and then they had a meeting and told everyone that the bank said they'd defaulted so everyone was told to * off, no redundancy, no pay for the work that they've already done this month....

Some alcohol will be consumed in the MT household this evening. Luckily we have some in. I can't see us being able to replenish the stocks once they're gone...

cmotdibbler · 16/01/2009 20:53

Aah, thats lovely. DS and our friends DD have huge hugs and kisses. Of course they are asking to sleep in the same bed now, but we aren't ready for them sleeping in the same room - although we would prob get to sleep in as the first thing either of them shouts when staying is for the other

I rather like suprise meals, but DH likes to know in advance. Fortunatly most are for my lunch, so I can have lentil suprise

Jacksmama · 16/01/2009 20:53

Oh no mistle!!!!!

Oh dear.

((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))?
Or ? (Forgot which you prefer)

Aw, what shit for you.
Here, have the bottle.

cmotdibbler · 16/01/2009 20:56

Oh feck MT, that is such a cr*ppy way of ending peoples employment. They could have more respect. I think theres some gov funded redundancy pay, but it takes some time to come through

Jacksmama · 16/01/2009 21:10
Racingsnake · 16/01/2009 21:12

You're right. It seems needlessly harsh. Dh will have to be terribly careful it doesn't make him value himself in that way.

UniS · 16/01/2009 21:27

oh b*er MT, sypathy for your bloke and you all.

Boy isn;t very well, had temp of 39 ish but going from perfectly nrmal behaviour to very cuddly fragile nd bck again so don;t think its serious, prob just a virus/cold. Hope he k again by monday or I'll have to argue with dh over who takes a day off.

Jacksmama · 16/01/2009 21:31

damn mistle, wish i could help!!!!

CuddlysBumLooksBigInThis · 16/01/2009 22:11

Oh was drawn back with the threat of a closing post battle but it seems more pressing matters are at hand!

Stressful times Mistle, I started a new job this week after being made redundant late last year - I don't like the job but it pays the bills 'til I find something I do like.

There are jobs out there despite the stories about it being an employers market although like with most things, it takes a bit of time and effort. Wishing you well and a .

Jacksmama, a school friend of mine lives in Cananda these days (I know it's a big country - she is probably 3000km from you) she is in Fernie, apparently in the middle of nowhere but assures me it is gorgeous country and I would love it.

Jacksmama · 16/01/2009 22:22

Actually, Fernie is in the same province as me, British Columbia, but at opposite ends. I'm in the west, near Vancouver, close to the coast, and Fernie is near the east end of the province, by the Alberta border. It's a gorgeous ski town, and the snow... ahhhh, best snow for not very good skiers like me.

BoccaDellaVerita · 16/01/2009 22:32

Great to see sos many familiar faces here tonight but, oh dear. What a day.

racingsnake - How is the Aged Parent now? Has there been any improvement during the day? I will pop over to the National Treasures in a moment to see what's happening but, to be frank, I rather agree that the immortal Patrick Moore (to name but one) should not have to consort with the likes of the negligibly-talented name deleted at the insistence of MN lawyers, the uncouth deleted and the vacuous deleted.

Mistlethrush - Oh no. What a dismal end to a job. I suppose the managers were feeling distressed too, but it does sound very clumsy. I do hope Mistlehusband doesn't get too discouraged.

We still have a few bottles of champagne, wine and gin in the tea room cellar. Would anyone like another glass?

mistlethrush · 16/01/2009 22:33

All contributions gratefully received. Thank you!

UniS I hope Boy is better soon. Ds managed to hit himself on a 'banister' outside at school on Thurs: I got phoned at work to warm me about it as it had swollen up significantly. I put some arnica cream on it when we got home, then some more in the evening - the following morning you could see where the cream had been (I couldn't get it too close to his eye) as it had gone down significantly. The teachers were really surprised at how little it had bruised up this morning. The miracle of arnica cream!

Jacksmama · 16/01/2009 22:38

I heart arnica. Have you tried/ can you get Traumeel? Even better!

mistlethrush · 16/01/2009 22:39

JM what's Traumeel?

UniS · 16/01/2009 22:44

Thanks for teh concern MT. If MH is in techy science IT my previous mention of teh Met office was genuine, they are at teh start of this years graduate recruitment round- ie looking for people who look useful and may be able to fill a role that hasn't been advertised yet. by no means all are recent grads, dh joined them via that route several years after graduating, it was his working experience & skills they wanted not his degree. Other companies will also be doing grad recruitment stuff about now, its not JUST for 21 yr olds.

Thanks for teh drop scone and blankie, much appricated. I'm working this weekend so may not be around till teh next thread. MAybe someone could leave a trail of crumbs so I can find it..

Jacksmama · 16/01/2009 22:44

It's a homeopathic cream, the company that makes it is called Heel. It contains arnica and a bunch of other stuff. It's wonderful.

BoccaDellaVerita · 16/01/2009 22:58

Rest assured, UniS, the new thread will have the words Tea Room in the title, just to make it conspicuous.

MellorstheGardener · 16/01/2009 23:20

Eh-up, ladies. Your good health.

CuddlysBumLooksBigInThis · 16/01/2009 23:45

WooHoo! Go Mellors you stud muffin!

boccadellaverita · 16/01/2009 23:50

We have had many types of muffin in the tea room, but this is the first time there's been a stud muffin!

CuddlysBumLooksBigInThis · 17/01/2009 00:01

Jacksmama · 17/01/2009 00:31
