Episode 34 - The Tearoom moves to New England

At this time of year New England is famous for its glorious foliage as billions of leaves change from green to a kaleidoscope of colours. The air is crisp and cool ? perfect for hiking, biking or a drive along back roads, where farm stands are piled high with crunchy apples and orange pumpkins.

Everyone is welcome. There are tea, cakes and wine aplenty so pull up a comfortable chair and join us.

The usual rule applies - no fisticuffs please!

You made me wonder so I went to check -- SB is curled in a ball, cuddling Bunny, his face half buried into his pillow. Yes, I think he's excited but will sleep. Xmas Grin

::sneaks down to hang up the tearoom stocking::

How did JM Santa know that's just what I always wanted?!?!?!

Nothing, and I mean nothing, makes a person feel more festive than the sound of pouring rain. Xmas Hmm I mean, honestly, would it have hurt to be snow instead of rain?

Family tensions running high. I feel a bit of ruining Christmas due to a certain branch. Not completely, mind, but there's an air about.

SmallBoy woke up around 4 a.m. looking for Bunny, crawled into bed with us and took up so much bedspace I could hardly breathe, let along move. Came down for a drink and am wide awake. Is it too early to open presents and play with toys?!

Scout19075 · 25/12/2012 08:07

It's Christmas!!! Xmas Grin

MrScout and SB are building a mini Lego digger. SB has stalled in his stocking presents opening.

beanandspud · 25/12/2012 08:25

Merry Christmas to all denizens of the tearoom, past present and future!

It's pouring with rain here too and the bay window roof is leaking. Comfort and joy indeed.

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 25/12/2012 10:12

Merry Christmas to all. The rain has just stopped here and it is all strange and bright outside. Wriggle has retired to a darkened room and the guinea pigs have removed their water wings. Lets hope that wasn't too reckless.

Jacksmania · 25/12/2012 16:43

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Scout19075 · 25/12/2012 23:08

SmallBoy had a wonderful day. Actually, so did I.

After two days of gifts (we did the American presents on Christmas Eve to spread the overload out a bit) and this morning explaining to SmallBoy that there were no more chocolate mice/Advent Calendar and no more presents I have just found a gift bag of goodies that SB didn't open yesterday. Gah! He was happy/content not to have more chocolate mice and/or more presents and is busy playing with his new trains/tracks/accessories. I've been trying to find my PiL floor and have been stacking presents, picking up stray bits of paper, and making sure SB's goodies are out of stepping-on range.

I have two missions before heading back to Scoutshire -- upgrade SB's train/track/accessories storage system (they seem to have multiplied and outgrown our current method) and to find a clip box to transport all of the Lego creations home.

ISawMommyKissThorinOakenshield · 26/12/2012 23:10

::grin::

It is only from MN that I have learnt that people have storage systems for Lego that are more sophisticated than the throw it all randomly into a huge box method that we used when I was a child.

Wine

Hope that all of the Tearoomers have had a good Christmas? We are all very chilled here, Small Bean has had a great couple of days, albeit he is fighting a cold/cough. Lego has taken over the house and we have no fancy storage system and Mr Bean spent the afternoon building a Lego 'Big Bentley' and associated Cars.

It looks as though my parents will be staying longer than planned but we are no longer going to visit the inlaws due to illness (Mr Bean going tomorrow on his own).

I'm sorry to hear about the illness, Bean. I hope everyone's well again soon. And I do love that you are married to Mr Bean. It makes me smile every time.

beanandspud · 26/12/2012 23:51

Thank you Isawmummy! FIL is deteriorating and MIL doesn't want Small Bean to see him at the moment. It's all a bit odd but there are things that are hard to explain to a 5yr old.

Did you have a good Christmas apart from the leaking window?

ISawMommyKissThorinOakenshield · 26/12/2012 23:55

Yes, we did, thanks. I am still making myself feel a bit bleurgh by scoffing too many flying saucers, though.

How about you? What was your favourite present?

beanandspud · 27/12/2012 00:00

We had a good day, I got a voucher for BBC Good Food Show tickets which I am looking forward to and DM got RHS membership so I am rather hoping that we can get to Chelsea Flower Show which would be very nice!

OP posts:
ISawMommyKissThorinOakenshield · 27/12/2012 00:08

Those sound lovely! Chelsea Flower Show is hell for the feet, though.

I've just noticed the time and am wimping out of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and going to bed. Good night!

Scout19075 · 27/12/2012 08:48

To all.

bean, something will be winging it's way to SmallBean at some point hopefully soon but no promises. SmallBoy hasn't looked at paper/pencils/crayons/scissors/glue for days except for those things he received from GrandmomandGrandadScout.

We seem to be going on a steam train adventure today. We haven't told SmallBoy, mostly because we decided to definitely go today around 10:30 last night. This morning I told SB we were going to have an adventure at a station today so we'll see what happens when we get there.

Have had a lovely and so very quiet! few days without the other family. It was nice without the drama/tension and not having to follow SB around so that he was never alone with a certain cousin. It also meant SB could leave all of his new track accessory pieces toys out without fear (or having to clean them up in mid-play!).

Ah well, SmallBoy has finally asked for breakfast. I've placed a lovely selection on the side board for those who are hungry.

Jacksmania · 27/12/2012 16:40

We've had a nice Christmas with my parents here. Last day today, they are going home tomorrow.

UniS · 27/12/2012 20:15

yummm, breakfast scout style... nice cinnabons. thanks.

Chez uni had a nice calm christmas. ate a bit much. sang lots of carols.

Scout19075 · 27/12/2012 21:44

Who has the evening nibbles?

ISawMommyKissThorinOakenshield · 27/12/2012 21:53

I've put a selection of fresh crusty bread, cold meats and cheeses, salads and pickles on the antique sideboard.

Scout19075 · 27/12/2012 22:02

Ooooohhhh, crusty bread. Yummy!
