Tea room 22- A Farmhouse kitchen, anyone for a cuppa?

UniS · 24/01/2011 14:47

Welcome to the 22nd incarnation of the tea room. This time we are watching for spring from a cosy farmhouse kitchen. There is an aga for baking virtual cakes and an inglenook with toasty fire and settles to rest weary bones on. The distressed chintz sofa and footstool have arrived safe and sound and the priest hole is around here somewhere. On the Window sill is an aspidistra its pot surrounded by a hand holding circle of nearly naked mohawk babies, they have placards and a brazier.

Outside in the surrounding fields can be found the tea room horses, Earl and Lady Grey, also a herd of bison AND a Ha Ha to keep the bishops from invading.

Usual rules apply, no fisticuffs, if you want an argument go else where. Mellors the butler / game keeper will supply all sorts of things on request. Welcome Mums of one, none or many to the tea room of requirement.

amber - did you have a tear in your eye? The idea of Finelad making a fine job of his interview has got me close to blubbing!

unserp - Horse woman is completely barmy! Did you ask her what her views are on the relationship between science and woman's lib in general?

I listened to a radio show about a woman who froze her eggs to give to her daughter who has a condition that means in adulthood she won't be fertile. She wanted to give her daughter choice. It seemed very reasonable to me.

UnIs - Congrats on the hedge stuff. My uncle annually does copicing work in a wood near him. He says it is very satisfying work.

Tee - This pain problem is a bleeerdy pain! What does your specialist say?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/01/2011 20:03

I have just mixed up some bread but forgotten the yeast and told Wriggle to 'Lie down, now, in your bed!' Both she and the dog are a little suprised. The bread may do something, as it had a starter in it, but designed to be combined with yeast. Might be time to give up for the evening.

Tee2072 · 26/01/2011 20:12

Amber so glad the boy enjoyed it!

tea my specialist says 'let's try acupuncture and then opiates!' Grin

UniS I can't even imagine planting a hedge. I am such a city girl! I don't even really want to move to the outskirts of the city but we really need to. Our rent is outrageous.

Poor LCT has yet another cough. Tried to give him some Sudafed, which he has a 'script for, being so young, and he zigged his head as daddy zagged the dropper and suddenly I'm covered, LCT's covered and our couch looks like a murder scene. Hmm

teafortwo · 26/01/2011 20:13

My Mum is a big bread maker. Every week since I was a little girl she makes bread I have no memory of a particularly fine loaf. I am sure she made particularly fine loaves because she is a good cook, but, I have very clear and funny memories of the 'not quite' loaves. Grin Think of it less of a bad bake and more as a wonderfully comical memory for Wriggle!

teafortwo · 26/01/2011 20:15

Oh tee - that is a horrible thing for your specialist to say and scary too. Sad

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/01/2011 20:17

My Mum (AP) too.She made all our bread when I was a child; being German she couldn't deal with English supermarket bread. Never remember one without yeast, though, so Wriggle will probably not remember this one!

teafortwo · 26/01/2011 20:22

I would try the tens machine. My sister used it for labour and highly rated hers.

By the way, does anyone-else start singing this everytime techno mentions Chelsea buns....???

(nico chelsea girls)

... ok just me....

Carry on.

Grin
teafortwo · 26/01/2011 20:24

The test was always to see if the birds ate the bread. If they didn't my sister and I would laugh hysterically.

Oh

my

God

weren't we terribly terribly cruel?????

Tee2072 · 26/01/2011 20:24

Tea, why is that horrible? There is no cure for what I have, only pain management. So that's what we're trying to do, manage the pain. Well, knee and hip replacement might help, but that's about a decade away for me!

I am considering getting a bread maker. Anyone suggest one?

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 26/01/2011 20:34

Tea - The Velvet Underground aren't really on my musical radar. .

::throws shapes::

Dunno what make our breadmaker is, but it's very useful, especially when one has run out of bread at an inconvenient time. ::whispers:: Lidl sell some very nice bread mixes - ciabatta and the like - if you want the easiest, quickest option.

Anyone else for a sherry as the sun is long since over the yardarm?

teafortwo · 26/01/2011 20:42

Tee - I suppose to be honest what is horrible is not what he said, just the choices you have to make.

I am very lucky to be close to physically 100percent on the healthy side myself and the idea of being in terrible pain seems so awful and when the management of the pain is so strong the thing is from where I am sitting it all seems a bit scary being in your shoes right now but, come to think of it like anything in life, I am sure from where you are sitting it is simply another bloody thing on the to-do list. Grin

Wow - I keep saying bloody tonight.

My sis and Mum have fantastic bread makers that didn't break the bank I will find out for you what make they are.

teafortwo · 26/01/2011 20:45

WOT no Velvet Underground techni!!!!

Not even on Sunday Morning????

Tssssk tssssk!!!!

Grin
Tee2072 · 26/01/2011 20:50

Tea - tsk tsk. My specialist is a woman!

And I guess to most people it would be a horrendous thing to hear. But when you have chronic pain it's exactly as you say, it's just part of who I am. And anything that leads to less pain is good. I will probably never be completely pain free. But pain less would be great!

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 26/01/2011 20:54

There are a few blips on my radar, Tea. , one of my favourite films. . Love the groovy pictures!

UniS · 26/01/2011 21:19

My Chelsea song as we seem to be on a chelsea roll.

Sticky Bun anybody??

Managed to get boy into bed at 6.30 this evening so its feeling really late already. DH not back yet, he's at conference dinner. Handily this conference is being held at his office so he's not had to go away for the week. And he's now talking about wiggling out of going abroad for a working week that would hit boys birthday AND party. Hurrah.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/01/2011 21:26

Never used a bread machine - don't they eat electricity?

Phone rang earlier, Tea. Wriggle said, 'Bloody phone!' vehemently. AP's influence, I fear.

teafortwo · 26/01/2011 21:42

Did I say 'he'....?????????? <

What is happening to me? I mentioned BH on FB, and said 'he' for a dr. My drs are all women and Milk's is too. What made me do that???

Must go and put my curlers in, make DH's pack up, iron his shirts and choose which dress I will wear tomorrow out of these:

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 26/01/2011 22:02

I see you as rather sophisticated; black with flower print.

Is it Boy's birthday soon?

UniS · 26/01/2011 22:07

Mid marsh for Boy turning 5!!! eeek, where did the time go.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 26/01/2011 22:09

Oooh, Tea, they look very Mad Men. Am I the only one who hasn't watched Mad Men?

Scout19075 · 26/01/2011 22:25

I feel flat - think I'll go to bed. G'night ladies!

UniS · 26/01/2011 22:52

nope, sorry Techno , I've not watched it either.

Any one fancy a hot chocolate and some fudge? the hand made by potters mugs and joug seem to have reappeared, so I'll fill her up with thick and frothy chocolatey yummyness. and add a side dish of creme eggs for those who wish to indulge.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 26/01/2011 22:59

Hot choccy at bedtime. How delicious (and not a little Angela Brazil). Yes please!

MyrrhyBS · 26/01/2011 23:12

I've been wining...

I've never watched Mad Men, Mad Max I have seen...
