The One-Child Tea Room, version 21... the Hawaiian Islands. Cocktails, anyone?

Welcome everyone to the 21st (!!!) One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading, we do have inhabitants who have or are planning more than one! Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply: no fisticuffs, or you will be escorted out by Mellors the Hunky Gardener. Depending on your preference, he looks variously like Daniel Craig, George Clooney, David Boreanaz, Gerard Depardieu... I have a feeling we all see something different but whatever we see makes us drool! And considering that this Tea Room is in the Hawaiian Islands, whoever we see is definitely shirtless! :o

Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, yummy food that is entirely without fattening effects, and lewd rolls abound in the Tea Room. There is also a full cappucino bar.

This is essentially A Tea Room of Requirement, and we're currently on the lovely sandy beaches of Maui, with beach huts, lounge chairs, cabanas, mango and papaya trees, and of course, lots of coffee directly from Kona.

Pop on in and stay a while. We may all seem a bit mad eccentric but we're very friendly!

I found a pair yesterday for BabyScout but are half-size too big (had his feet checked on Thursday to see if he still fit into current Cruisers -- he's grown but not outgrown current shoes). Probably should have got them since I don't think he'll be walking sturdily for three weeks before four weeks/one month is up. Oh well.

Would anyone like a tropical cocktail?

Scout19075 · 17/01/2011 19:08

I feel so wrong -- have made a lovely cottage pie that's now cooking in the oven and I don't even want it....

Scout19075 · 17/01/2011 19:11

LaVie, was thinking about you this weekend -- how's the ukelele? (Gosh my spelling is cr@p.)

amberlight · 17/01/2011 19:14

Hand that pie made of cottages over here - I'll help! Our chicken surprise turned out to have chicken in it after all, but it's not very filling really.

Scout19075 · 17/01/2011 19:19

oh, that could be messy....

amberlight · 17/01/2011 19:41
Grin

I always feel better after a bit of time in the tea room. Cheers me up no end after a day of stress.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 20:00

::Dons sou'wester as with cottage pies hurtling though the air it seems to be getting very messy::

::Hopes Mellors will turn up soon to restore calm and order::

Tee2072 · 17/01/2011 20:08

::ducks all flying food::

Wine anyone?

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 20:12

I've already started the Bolly but a dry white wine would be nice.

How's the parental visit going?

Tee2072 · 17/01/2011 20:19

::pours for Techno::

It's going okay. My mum likes to GO GO GO. Whereas I like to STAY STAY STAY, so I'm exhausted. Compounded by a 45 minute screaming fit by LCT this afternoon because he got told NO! When he opened the freezer door. Hmm Longest tantrum to date and with added stamping feet!

CMOTdibbler · 17/01/2011 20:20

::raises fishing net to intercept food::

DS and I had jelly, strawberries and squirty cream for tea Grin. He had had sandwiches + fruit at 3.30, 4.30, and then a box of grapes/breadsticks/cheese/apple in the car at 5, plus a hot lunch at 12.

Got to watch dpony being lunged this afternoon on my water/haynet visit - he is such a good boy

I hope you are eating this food Scout ? Have you been having shakes and snacks ?

Scout19075 · 17/01/2011 20:28

Your pony being what, CMOT? (Sorry, not a horse/pony person at all so NNOOOO clue.)

I've been having snacks (lots of nuts) but don't have the stuff to make shakes (no blender or stick). I did eat some of my pie tonight, even though I'd much rather have had pasta twirls and sauce. Oh, and don't forget I've had some of Tee's dinner and amber's as well. Wink

Donki · 17/01/2011 21:15

(Scout Pony going round in circles on the end of a long piece of rope.)

Scout19075 · 17/01/2011 21:16

(Cheers, Donki!)

(How are you?)

CMOTdibbler · 17/01/2011 21:17

Lungeing is when the horse/pony doesn't have a rider on (well, you can do it mounted as a training thing), and a long line attached to their headcollar, then someone stands a way away with a long whip (just used for waving/noise) and gets them to do things. Dpony is learning to respond properly to voice commands and to speed up and slow down by voice.

When ds rode him on Sunday, he was immaculatly behaved. Which is more than I can say for ds...

More calories Miss ! PB on toast, avocados, or just full fat milk with milkshake syrup

UniS · 17/01/2011 21:28

::unis gingerly picks her way through the debris of what looks like a food fight! And starts washing up::

evening all, mines a suprisingly large cocktail please, with a cherry on a stick and an umbrella.
I have just stopped being busy, for first time today. even for me, its been a busy day. BUT dining room walls are now painted. just teh woodwork to do. Piano arriving at 9ish tomorrow morning.

Hi MM, boy is about same age as your DD.
Hi Sar, not sure if I said that before.
You two wil soon pick up my bizarre spelling, sorry.

Waves to all old hands, carrots to donki.

Can I have a smug moment. I got two year 3 boys to stop playfighting and go sit on chairs at different tables for 2 mins during a wet lunch break today. It felt like I had 4 yr olds in teh room, not 8 yr lds. BUT, it worked. For those that hadn;t realised, i do some lunchtime assistant work at local school.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 17/01/2011 22:17

Donki, I have just been reading my new issue of RE Today. It has some really good ideas and some resources online (but not enough). Also I use ideas from things like TES resources. Any use?

thumbdabwitch · 17/01/2011 22:30

has anyone got some hot chocolate lurking around please?
Stress induced insomnia last night coupled with a ridiculously early phone call (6:45!) from the delivery company bringing my tumbledrier means I am Very Short On Sleep and feeling a touch chilly. An overnight temperature drop of >10 degrees might have something to do with it as well!

Hello to MM - I am in Australia with one DS, aged 3.1, so I post at strange hours.

Donki - I sympathise totally - sounds like me! EVERY time I tell myself I Will Get Organised and do things ahead of time, and sometimes I even manage to start things - but then the old problem reasserts itself and stuff gets left til the last minute. The pressure works better on getting things done - but leaves me tired and stressed about it. MN doesn't help with this problem.

UniS - well done on successful separation of warring factions! :)

I'm glad the flying food fest appears to have stopped - cottage-pie-made-with-real-cottages could hurt! Wink

Scout19075 · 17/01/2011 22:31

I'm off to bed but before I go....

::Scout boxes up cocktails (with umbrellas!) and chocolates in plastic food storage containers, steals borrows LaVie's lacrose stick again and whizzes Snack Boxes for Mommies to all of the tea room inhabitants::

Good night, Ladies!

thumbdabwitch · 17/01/2011 22:32

Sorry - Serpent - hope M.Serpent manages to hold on to his job as well. We have to just relax and enjoy the days that go well and live in the present, no? pretend that everything is all right for a short while before Fate steps in and kicks us in the knackers (or other gender-appropriate soft spot) again.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 17/01/2011 22:36

Are you really feeling that vulnerable to fate, Thumb?

oxeye · 17/01/2011 22:56

Thumb get a proper agent. Fully managed should be 15% not 10%. No brainer. Also will cease muchly stress in your relationship with your dad

serpent enjoy the moment for now. If m. Serpent loses job next year then this years pleasures are all the more precious. Enjoy now dont worry in case.

Donki my patience pills generally arrive in a bottle with a cork mostly but not always after 6

scout the drugs will be disposed of but one of the concerns of the shipman enquiry was that drugs once in the community are not ever accounted fir again
