Tea Room the Eighteenth - the Cricket Pavilion

Welcome one and all to our new abode - a lovely old-fashioned Cricket Pavilion, with decks outdoors and a rather lovely Members' Bar, complete with deep-seated leather comfy chairs and any drink you care to mention.

Our outdoor amenities include the well-tended cricket pitch, kept immaculate by Mellors, our multi-purpose man; a couple of tennis courts round the back for those who prefer the Wimbledon scene; and another multi-purpose pitch (can be used for hosting Fine Lad-style rugby matches, or Little Kickers' football, or the occasional All Comers' Lacrosse Tournament.

Bishops abound, mostly snoozing in the leather armchairs; there are sundry animals around - guineapigs and bison mostly - and of course the Naked Mohawk Babies, fetchingly attired in cricket whites (most unusual for them!)

The cricket pavilion tea room is open to all - those with only one child who need a safe haven predominate but having more than one child is fine - come in, have an egg'n'cress sandwich and a glass of Pimms!

*other fillings and beverages also available.

Nomnomnom. Seriously, a girl could gain a few lost pounds in here.

CMOTdibbler · 29/10/2010 19:59

fanks for the Bolly and fat rascal.

Amber, they are barstewards. And stupid if they think that.

You are the epitome of romance UniS.

So far, have explained about my arm to 100 people. Big meetings haven't even started yet I should have printed explanation sheets

Ds and dh are having a lovely time without me, but ds made dh write an email to my colleague to check she was looking after me

Scout19075 · 29/10/2010 20:05

Awww, very sweet CMOT.

I decided today that a mother/daughter pair I know would make fantabulous Americans. Seriously, they're more sterotypical American than I am!

Toll-House Chocolate Chip Cookies anyone?

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 29/10/2010 20:07

Sorry, forgot to impertinently comment on UniS's romantic purchases. I guess they could be quite romantic if UniS and UniBloke are going to do some companionable log-splitting and then go for a relaxing soak in the Scandinavian hot tub of requirement. Wink

Cmot - Should that not be an interactive Powerpoint presentation? Wink

UniS · 29/10/2010 20:19

I guess the our companionable evenings reading in a toasty warm living room do have just a hint of romance left. Even after soooo many years. At least we both remembered this year.

Any one like marshellow to toast on eth tea room fire?

Shall we all come tea room trick or treating on sunday? as in , pop in , show off our fancy dress and pick up some favourite sweeties.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 29/10/2010 20:24

Virtual trick or treating sounds fab, UniS.

I deduce you have been married almost as long as we have. Do you sit on the same sofa to read? We have two sofas, which may represent the Death of Romance.

Donki · 29/10/2010 20:25

Well, if the tea room bison are eating Amber's magazines, then I must have spotted some of their relatives!

Fat Rascals - I may be Yorkshire bred, but I have always felt that they were over-rated.
Yorkshire curd tarts however....Mmmmmmmmm...

Best FB status I've seen today: Put this on your status if you know someone (or are related to someone) who has been eaten by dragons. Dragons are nearly unstoppable and, in case you didn't know, they can breathe fire. 93% of people won't copy and paste this, because they have been eaten by dragons. The other 7% of people are sitting in the shower armed with fire extinguishers.

Grin

Thank you for reminding me -- I need to get BabyScout's costume for the Seniors' Halloween Party on Tuesday night....

Scout19075 · 29/10/2010 20:36

x-posts w/Mary.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 29/10/2010 21:19

Anything you want to talk about, Mary?

MaryBS · 29/10/2010 21:48

Can't say atm, confidential.

3thumbedwitch · 29/10/2010 22:42

oh dear Mary - hope you're ok.
Have some mandarin oil for your burner - very good for calming and uplifting the spirits

JBsMonsterMummy · 29/10/2010 23:49

Scout - I laughed so hard at the dragon FB status thing I snorted tea on my keyboard, and then promptly went and put it on my FB :o

So glad that since Scout joined the TR, I'm no longer the only ignorant furriner who has to ask what things are... such as Fat Bastards :o
Yummy, I'd quite like a couple.

For anyone who wants to shout at me to take it easier know, my knee is feeling much better. A day of rest yesterday seems to have done wonders.
I worked 6 hours today and now I'm going to collect JB, go grocery and wine shopping and have a leisurely evening. He'll be played out from being at G-ma's. :o

JBsMonsterMummy · 29/10/2010 23:51

Oh and welcome back roslily!

oxeye · 30/10/2010 00:38

Hello dear tearoom lovelies! Agh

Racing - holiday sounds grand. I think red and white was good - don't get down with the colds

Amber - sigh - just don't know what to say

Mary - I send comfort down to the priest hole

Scout - well done with first birthday and shoes. We had to buy OxBoy's first shoes on holiday had to guess the size, not the "experience" you expect but I cried when I left them behind in the shop by mistake when we bought a second pair....

OxBloke is canoeing single handedly across the panama canal as we speak and OxPoppins has had a rare personal calamity so I have been alone for a few days - very tricky since I have to work all night to catch up not working all day iyswim

I might just curl up on the sofa now

we sit at right angles on the sofa. I am a cuddly toucher, OxBloke is less so, I therefore manage to drape part of me on him for sort of comfort and sustenance (like irritatinly tucking my feet under his legs for example) OxBloke is rather long suffering and rather lovely Grin

oxeye · 30/10/2010 00:49

Done a bit of back reading, not all the way, but welcome back Roslily lovely to see you and hope you are in an ok place

Mindy also great to see you again and I am sure the anniversary of your dear Dad's death is a very tough time. OxBloke's Dad passed this year and although expected it has taken a good 8 months for us even to feel a bit normalised about it let alone working through all the ramifications

Tea- I so agree with your post about our lovely community in the tea room - "Happiness is a tearoom with mates" Grin

I too second a tea room in a hot place - maybe clapboard and sea, sort of East Coast stylee .... my desk is in a DRAFT grrr

I will be back to twirl with Halloween outfits, we are very excited here, been on one party and hat T&T round friends on Sunday.... the homemade outfit is eccentric but great!

Catitainahatita · 30/10/2010 03:44

Yippee!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you everyone for your kind words about the Other Situation. At least I'm doing a learning disability conference this week so the example will be a good talking point. And indeed one for the meeting with the MPs about learning disability etc at the end of November. Sad

Two family birthdays to prepare for next week inc ds's 18th so better start wrapping...

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 30/10/2010 11:00

Oxeye - If there is anything I can do to help while OxBloke is paddling down the Panama Canal and OxPoppins is indisposed, then PM me.

3thumbedwitch · 30/10/2010 12:55

Hello to you all!
Had a great time today - drove into Sydney (trains were on bus replacement) and met up with 5 other MNers at the Opera Bar for drinks, lunch and chat. It was great fun! We had good weather for it (unlike the weather 2 weeks ago, which was our first proposed date for it except I was sick and someone else couldn't make it - good thing, it seems!) And we found a Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlour - so I got to indulge in my absolute favourite flavour, Love Potion #31 [mmmmmmmmnnnmnmnmn]

((hugs)) to all those who need them for whatever reason and Hurrah! for Catita getting her project in! What a relief. [hsmile]

UniS · 30/10/2010 19:12

Hurrah for Cat getting her project in on time (ish) and most importantly FINISHED.

Boo Hiss to what ever sent Mary scurying to teh priest hole.

Amber , that breakfast of American pancakes and maple syrup and bacon was divine. Set me up just right for a morning of picking up apples. Next weekend we make cider.

Sofa sharing for reading, no not sharing, I fidget too much says UniBloke .Generally one of us is reading/ browsing/ doing something with PC and tother is on comfy chair.
gotta go.
time to kiss boy good night

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 30/10/2010 19:57

Didn't we have a luvverly time, the day we went to Brighton.

Bolly, sticks of rock and sugar false teeth on the sideboard for anyone in Saturday need. And, of course, a vast plate of Sorpresa di Twigletto.
