Tea Room the Eighteenth - the Cricket Pavilion

Welcome one and all to our new abode - a lovely old-fashioned Cricket Pavilion, with decks outdoors and a rather lovely Members' Bar, complete with deep-seated leather comfy chairs and any drink you care to mention.

Our outdoor amenities include the well-tended cricket pitch, kept immaculate by Mellors, our multi-purpose man; a couple of tennis courts round the back for those who prefer the Wimbledon scene; and another multi-purpose pitch (can be used for hosting Fine Lad-style rugby matches, or Little Kickers' football, or the occasional All Comers' Lacrosse Tournament.

Bishops abound, mostly snoozing in the leather armchairs; there are sundry animals around - guineapigs and bison mostly - and of course the Naked Mohawk Babies, fetchingly attired in cricket whites (most unusual for them!)

The cricket pavilion tea room is open to all - those with only one child who need a safe haven predominate but having more than one child is fine - come in, have an egg'n'cress sandwich and a glass of Pimms!

*other fillings and beverages also available.

Well, I thought one or two was alright, but Mom just made a comment (we're IMing) and it made me wonder if I was crazy.

Yes, my family does the whole baby with cake, too. We have a cake for everyone and then I'm giving BabyScout his own cupcake to enjoy at his party.

My only baby only turns one once, so I'm going to enjoy it!

Yum!

Mother went home again tonight. She talks incessantly, a result of living alone I think. I find it a bit much though, but then I feel guilty for finding it a bit much. She came to stay Monday night after saying she was struggling - she has a Drs appt first think so had to go home. Sister is coming to cope with her this weekend.

UniS · 27/10/2010 22:54

hot choc gratefully accepted.
night all.

3thumbedwitch · 28/10/2010 08:00

Mary - that made me smile. My MIL talks incessantly too - she says when her DH was alive and working, and she was at home with the 2 boys, she used to go to the gate whenever he came home from work and would just chatter all the way down the drive and non-stop until dinnertime. Don't know how he coped, tbh!

It's interesting weather here - hot in the sun, muggy as hell and big black clouds threatening around but no rain. Cold when the sun disappears so a bugger to deal with, clotheswise.

miniThumb appears to be getting a cold, having not yet recovered from the Bastard Virus from Hell - he's getting all snivelly now and coughing more, and a bit of a temp again - at least he agreed (albeit reluctantly) to take some calprofen this afternoon. The syringe helps...

Donki · 28/10/2010 09:13

Homemade elderberry cordial for all those snivels - 'tis supposed to be excellent for colds and coughs. Help yourselves!

Happy Birthday to Baby Scout - would carrots go down well?

The Young Donk has been given a new mountain bike by aunt. He enjoyed riding it around (small) bits of North Wales - including a 5 mile mostly downhill run on a quiet road into Dolgellau. Which he can now pronounce.

He wanted to bring it home - but it wouldn't fit in the car, so now we have to go back so that he can ride it in Wales some more.

Scout19075 · 28/10/2010 11:47

Locked my car key in my coat in the boot of the car. So BabyScout and I are stuck inside since the pushchair is in the boot. Damn. I was going to walk into town, treat us to lunch at the cafe and get BabyScout's first pair of real cruiser shoes. But we're having fun opening presents (one or two at a time), playing with the new toys, reading the new stories and having lots of cuddles. Despite still being a bit wheezy (a lot less coughy, though!) and having a streaming nose, BabyScout is on very good form today. I know he won't remember this, but I am so glad I became a SAHM and can be here to spend the day with him.

This time last year he wasn't even two hours old and I was having my first cuddles, thinking I never wanted to put him down.

Gosh darn I'm about to make myself cry!

I'll be back with personals and other news when BabyScout goes for his afternoon sleep.

Scout19075 · 28/10/2010 11:48

Thanks for the carrots, Donki. BabyScout likes them!!!

Scout19075 · 28/10/2010 18:16

I'm knackered. And I've eaten half of BabyScout's bag of giant chocolate buttons with the last of my peanut butter from home. Blush

JBsMonsterMummy · 28/10/2010 19:19

Sorry I've been absent btw. I have barely enough time to check into FB. MN always sucks me in and I get stuck for several hours minutes. :o

Once again I have not read back. Might have time later. I'm trying to take it very easy today as my knee is still quite sore. WE do have to go out in a bit to get some groceries, but other than that, yours truly is going mkj7kiyko7ykokokokokkkkkkkkk9okllool

sorry, JB briefly took over the keyborad :o

Anyway, I plan to do as little as possible today. Feeling very blah, not very well, achy, and sorry for myself, as DH has to be out of town on a course this weekend. Our house is all upside down because we have the builders here 9although they are lovely and are doing a fantastic job), so everything feels unsettled and bleh.
Is there a self-pity emoticon? If not, there should be.

Scout19075 · 28/10/2010 20:45

Do birthdays get easier? I'm a big puddle of mush over her. Didn't do it during the day, and will stop before MrScout gets home, but feel all soppy.

Thank you for all of BabyScout's birthday wishes! He's had a good day, even if much more laid-back/stuck-inside than I had planned for. He's a very lucky little boy -- lots of pressies of new toys to play with and new books to read.

roslily · 28/10/2010 22:01

Hi can I sneak into the Tea room? I came in a long while back, but I wasn't really ready to accept that ds would be an only. Now I am trying to get there, and might be seeing us a family of 3.

Happy Birthday Babyscout, we have the ILs staying so I will pass round some pumpkin and ginger cake that MIL made.

Scout19075 · 28/10/2010 22:11

Hello roslily!

Would you like a chocolate button?

CMOTdibbler · 28/10/2010 23:39

Hi Roslily, and happy birthday Scout

Am in California, and the weather is divine. I feel sooo much better for it - and for seeing lovely colleagues.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 29/10/2010 00:15

Hi Roslily. Just saw your other thread. Welcome back and would you like a hot chocolate/glass of wine/cocktail?

3thumbedwitch · 29/10/2010 00:19

Evening all!
Welcome back Roslily - haven't seen your other thread but will have a look.

Chocolate buttons, especially big ones, very welcome over here, ta.

Glad BabyScout had a good time, Scout - and that you let him have a chocolate button![hgrin]

CMOTD - how is the wrist standing up to travel and stuff? Did you get someone to help you with your bags?

Hello Small - I'll join you in a cocktail - mojoitas [deliberate] all round? [hwink]

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 29/10/2010 00:24

I have to get to bed, but help yourself from the well-stocked drinks cabinet of requirement!

Bottoms up!
