Tea Room the Eighteenth - the Cricket Pavilion

Welcome one and all to our new abode - a lovely old-fashioned Cricket Pavilion, with decks outdoors and a rather lovely Members' Bar, complete with deep-seated leather comfy chairs and any drink you care to mention.

Our outdoor amenities include the well-tended cricket pitch, kept immaculate by Mellors, our multi-purpose man; a couple of tennis courts round the back for those who prefer the Wimbledon scene; and another multi-purpose pitch (can be used for hosting Fine Lad-style rugby matches, or Little Kickers' football, or the occasional All Comers' Lacrosse Tournament.

Bishops abound, mostly snoozing in the leather armchairs; there are sundry animals around - guineapigs and bison mostly - and of course the Naked Mohawk Babies, fetchingly attired in cricket whites (most unusual for them!)

The cricket pavilion tea room is open to all - those with only one child who need a safe haven predominate but having more than one child is fine - come in, have an egg'n'cress sandwich and a glass of Pimms!

*other fillings and beverages also available.

DS had inhalers from 9 months onwards - they soon get the hang of it, but if the have broken the seal they won't be drawing air through the spacer. Going swimming is actually quite good for bad chests as the humidity helps loosen the mucus.

Mindy - I doubt my parents will be around much longer, and I know my brother will be no more use or support afterwards than he is now - which is none. But I can see that it will always be a time that makes you think about families.

Am now bedecked in silicone gel sheet in an attempt to soften my scars. It adds a certain something to the bedtime outfit Hmm

Scout19075 · 25/10/2010 22:09

BabyScout's medicine after dinner/before bed was much more seal-like. Afterwards he was licking and chewing the mask. Hmm Now have to figure out how to clean it. Am also supposed to do it to him in his sleep. Hmm Confused

I was thinking no swimming more because of the other babies in the pool, not so much the pool/water itself. There are some little babies in our swim class as well as a pregnant mom.

If I didn't have a human heating blanket in my bed I'd be in thick socks, sweatpants, tee-shirt and hoodie with hood up. I am bloody FREEZING!

UniS · 25/10/2010 22:33

scouts right I was flipping frezeing today. we currently have teh living room nice and warm, but upstairs ( hall where thermometer is) is a mere 14.5 and I don;t think its been any higher all day.

The Dr did look at me a bit funny when I queried if bellringing counted as " normal Activities " to be keeping my arm mobile with. Apparently not. ho hum. DH, bless him has just peeled tomorrows spuds for me.

CAn we take the tea room somewhere hot and sunny again next time, or do you want roaring fires and fur rugs.

amberlight · 26/10/2010 07:46

Bell ringing is definitely not a good activity for shoulders. Well, not unless it's very tiny tinkly hand bells.

A hot tea room sounds ideal to me. I hate winter cold: I seize up. Back to two duvets and a hot water bottle for me.

teafortwo · 26/10/2010 11:21

Hi Mindy - lovely to see you in here. Help yourself to the dodgy custard tart Milk and I made this weekend!

I am sorry to hear about the low level of okishness in the tearoom so many injuries, accidents, stress and sadness... I find those grey clouds do seem to start rolling in at this time of year... (mine are rolling at alarming rates too)Sad

I think we are all very lucky to have this lovely little tearoom at the moment... Let's keep truckin' on together... nod at the sadness and nastiness of living but let's also look out for the precious little good things in life because it is these bits that will keep us going and make us strong! x x x

teafortwo · 26/10/2010 11:36

scout - Grin

Sorry if my post seemed a bit lecture-like!!! [rolls eyes at self]

I suppose what I wanted to say was that I find great comfort in the tearoom and the culture we have developed here and hope that everyone-else finds the same too especially in all our various stages of 'ugness'.

CMOTdibbler · 26/10/2010 11:43

Well put Tea (and can you pm me your address please so I can send your parcel when I get back).

Weather here - cold and rainy. Weather at tomorrows destination, 76'F and sunny. Bliss.

Scout19075 · 26/10/2010 11:44

Oh, I didn't take it as a lecture in the least! Grin Don't worry. I was just sharing a happiness since it's so dark and grey and cold and miserable -- both inside and out.

Do you know the Peanuts/Charles Schultz book "Happiness is a Warm Puppy"? That's where I get a lot of my "Happiness is...." thoughts -- when it's a rough day or dark & cold or whatever I make up my own "Happiness is...." Today it's "Happiness is a sleeping baby." Given that BabyScout's not 100% and he really struggled to get to sleep last night and really cried hard in the middle of the night, I am grateful for his nap this morning.

Oh, and tea, are you going to be in my county this Christmas-time or just the UK in general?

teafortwo · 26/10/2010 12:17

Done CMOT... Smile

YES, Socut I will be in Scoutshire this Christmas! Grin

Scout19075 · 26/10/2010 12:32

Ooohhh, depending on when you're here we should reschedule the failed-attempt at meeting up. If you're free and interested, that is.

teafortwo · 26/10/2010 16:59

YAY! Good idea scout!!! I will pm you when I know exact dates myself... Smile

UniS · 26/10/2010 17:02

UNis pops in, gives teh fire a good poke and some more logs. tops up the fruit bowl and cake tin, then departs again. feeling rather better now teh drugs are kicking in.

teafortwo · 26/10/2010 17:45

Hi Unis, bye Unis boy don't you fly Unis (grin]...

BTW...

A hot and sunny tearoom again - I think that sounds like a fab idea!!!!

We have just returned from play clothes shopping...

On this shopping trip Milk decided very firmly that seeing as it is her who will be wearing the clothes it is her who should choose the clothes. She rolled her eyes at my bright and fun suggestions instead we left with some very fashionable buys (a pair of brown skinny cords, two fairly sophisticated baggy long sleeve t-shirts and a big chunky biscuity coloured cardi)...

... Phew... it was soooooo exhausting - she was VEEEERY certain about exactly what was nice and what was not so much so it REALLY was like a round with mn Style and Beauty!!!

3thumbedwitch · 27/10/2010 02:29

Paris rubbing off on her, is it Tea? [hwink]

UniS · 27/10/2010 09:38

re milk- Oh la la . gotta be the Parisian coming out in her.

teafortwo · 27/10/2010 09:49

I KNOW!!!! ConfusedHmm

Afterwards we went to get some wood for our fire. When she went to get her coat she also put her Dad's dressing gown belt on over her dress. I let her leave the flat like this to balance the equasion a bit.

Scout19075 · 27/10/2010 11:18

I must admit, tea, I giggled reading about Milk and was grateful for a boy. LOL Grin To be fair, though, girls seem to have SOOOO many clothes choices I can see where a girly could go a bit silly.

BabyScout will be one tomorrow! He's bouncing of the walls today -- I wonder if he knows he finally gets to open all of the presents under his bed AND he's going to have a special treat (cake is at his birthday tea/party with his family on Sunday, so am thinking a chocolate button is a nice birthday treat or the day).

3thumbedwitch · 27/10/2010 11:38

oh happy birthday to BabyScout for tomorrow! How lovely - we had a tiny family party for miniThumb with a friend of mine as a party entertainer - she was just starting to set up in the business so we gave her some practice (paid, of course) - she did puppets, musical instruments and balloon animals. Not sure how much of it miniThumb fully appreciated but he certainly had a good time! loved chasing around after his older cousins. Good memories...

Scout19075 · 27/10/2010 11:49

He has lots of presents under his bed from his Mommy & Daddy, Grandmom & Granddad in the States and his Godmother who is also in the States. Oh, and a package from my unit Guider who is like a third grandma to him. He opened his present from my friend (the one I had lunch with last week) with her at lunch. His "party" includes us, his Nana & Grandpa, his three aunts, two uncles and five cousins. Four other couples have been invited, as they are "extended family," but only two of the four can make it. One of them is his Godfather and his wife (who is an unofficial Godparent). People will just come over for some nibbles and cake. I'm sure we'll have more cake and presents next month with my parents and siblings and BabyScout's Godmother (who is also going home for Thanksgiving -- WAHOO!).

November/Thanksgiving week is always busy with my sister's birthday, Thanksgiving and MrScout's birthday in the same week. So yes, definitely more cake to be eaten!

amberlight · 27/10/2010 12:43

UniS, glad the drugs are improving things.

Hi everyone

UniS · 27/10/2010 18:53

ohhhh soup du jor, what IS a jour when its at home? does it have feathers or fur or is it yesterdays vegetable left overs?

I took it easy at drumming workshop today, let boy do the work. He enjoyed it . Currently having stories with daddy, along side an impromptu phonics workshop.

MaryBS · 27/10/2010 19:36

Not sure if it has feathers or fur, but it has a knee - I've been on a journey! :o

Glass of wine, anyone?

Scout19075 · 27/10/2010 19:49
UniS · 27/10/2010 19:59

bit stingy, I should give him two. The first one he won't know what it is to start with, the 2nd.. he will love you forever.

Unis remembers boys 1st birthday cake... It was chocolate sponge, with choc butter-cream icing . We let him rip into a slice on his own. He had lots of fun. My SiL in teh states introduced us to teh idea, she did it for all her kids 1st birthdays, with vanilla or choc icing depending on kids skin colour for maximum mess.
