What kind of clothing do you wear?

ofwarren · 21/01/2022 10:17

I have huge sensory issues where clothing is concerned, especially shoes. I hate wearing shoes so much. I hate shoes that I can feel on my feet so my go to shoe is Crocs in dry weather and wellies in wet.

I don't like my skin being exposed to air and need compression so I wear leggings or tights all of the time, even in bed. On top I wear dresses that are usually knee length and have long sleeves. I HATE waistbands.

I'm a fan of colour so my clothing is bright, rainbow and patterned. Clashing at times, but I don't really care. I'm comfortable and I like what they look like.

Oh god I only really like wearing 100% cotton clothes as any other material feels wrong. And it's really hard finding 100% cotton clothes that are also a flattering fit and colour so I never really look that great and will never be a stylish put-together person. Plus because I am so particular, I don't buy new clothes very often and end up wearing the same clothes over and over again until they are pretty much rags!!!

Also absolutely hate wearing a bra, and because of the pandemic and working from home have been able to ditch them completely now which is a relief! For as long as I can remember, I have always worn those cotton vests with a built in support section so that gives me enough support

@AffIt

Amazing thank you!

Svara · 23/01/2022 18:46

Thanks @broccolibush. I have a bum but I have narrow hips. I'm not sure if Lucy and Yak would look silly on me as they look quite big on the hips. Is run and fly a narrower cut?

broccolibush · 23/01/2022 18:55

Run and Fly is a straight leg cut whereas Lucy and Yak have a tapered leg so I suspect that Run and Fly would be more comfortable and work better on your figure @Svara

They do free returns, as do Lucy and Yak, so if you’re able to why not order a few pairs and return?

Svara · 23/01/2022 19:00

Thanks @broccolibush, I should try some

Salaro · 23/01/2022 19:06

Has anyone got any jeggings they recommend? I really want some "boyfriend fit" or straight legged slightly baggy jeans but elastic waist which doesn't seem to exist if you're not a teenage boy. So jeggings seems a good alternative

I live in loungewear. A few sets of the same thing while a wardrobe full of clothes go unworn. I've bought clothes, hung them up then taken them to charity shops ten years later with the tags still on. Confused does anyone else do that? I love the idea of new clothes but don't wear them.

I unpick all labels of what I do wear, can't cut them out because that leaves edges so I have to unpick the stitching.
Sometimes this leaves a hole 🤬

I can't stand anything with long sleeves so everything is elbow length (I also can't wear jewellery) and seams hurt so I often wear the stuff inside out. But it's ok cos I never leave the house so only my family see me.

LilyRed · 24/01/2022 14:13

@ofwarren

I was looking at yellow anoraks the other day! The amount of times I've seen clothes that I've liked online and clicked on them, only to find they are children's clothes 🙈
Buy it! My favourite oldest coat (anorak thing) is orange and my raincoat is bright orange Grin

Children definitely get the best patterns, although I think Molke occasionally do leggings besides bras

Babdoc · 24/01/2022 14:24

I have ten copies of the same white t shirt. I wear it with jeans, cords or hiking trousers in winter, and cooler cotton trousers in summer.
I hate the feel of elastic, or tight fitting clothes, so never wear a bra or tights. I have ten copies of the same white pants, and ditto for black socks.
It makes getting dressed very quick and easy in the mornings! I have never been one for gazing at racks of clothes and moaning I have nothing to wear.

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 25/01/2022 07:06

I have several of the long sleeve primark t-shirts in different colours that I put on under most tops and outfits.

ofwarren · 25/01/2022 13:32

@iguessyourestuckwithme
What colours do they come in? I'm looking for some more long sleeved tops like that.

My first Molke bra came and OMG!!
The compression and the separation along with the uplift is just perfect for me!
Thank you so much to those who recommended.
Bye bye painful underwire!

🤣 What have you been buying?

Leggings and loose dresses don't like things to fitted or too thick as I feel too hot. I tend to layer.

Tdcp · 27/01/2022 08:08

🤣 What have you been buying?

Crocs, Lucy and yak dungarees with the hope of getting the run and fly dinosaur ones when they're back in stock...and special ear plug things 😂

Oh and I'm now looking at molke 😂😂

ofwarren · 27/01/2022 11:34

I love your username @autienotnaughty Grin

@ofwarren thank you 😊 it mostly refers to my son. But could be me too 😂😂

LilyRed · 27/01/2022 13:30

We will be all able to recognise another ND Mumsnetter on the street now if you go out - waves! Grin

IncompleteSenten · 27/01/2022 17:15

😂 indeed

AlternativelyWired · 29/01/2022 21:47

Dd looked horrified when I asked her about me wearing dungarees.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 29/01/2022 21:54

I used to love wearing a pinafore dress.

AlternativelyWired · 30/01/2022 14:51

I'm risking the horror and have bought some cropped linen fat face ones. I think they will be perfect for summer and look great with my silver supagras which are bloody unyielding and need some softening up. White tee shirt. Lightweight cardigan. Hair in braids 🤣 my childhood was difficult. I like twin braids in my hair and have been known to suck my thumb in private. This thread has given me the support to care less about what others think.

I love this Grin

I hope you enjoy your lovely new clothes.

I'm sad to say I bought some Molke underwear and have returned it all... WAY too much fabric (it feels 'bulky') and even the low rise briefs were too high (I have a very specific area where pants are allowed to 'touch' and I cannot abide the feeling of the waistbands of knickers directly beneath the waistband of my trousers.

Oh well. Back to FatFace it is (even though I then have to spend ten minutes cutting the weirdly prolific labels out of the back of them).
