What kind of clothing do you wear?

I have huge sensory issues where clothing is concerned, especially shoes. I hate wearing shoes so much. I hate shoes that I can feel on my feet so my go to shoe is Crocs in dry weather and wellies in wet.

I don't like my skin being exposed to air and need compression so I wear leggings or tights all of the time, even in bed. On top I wear dresses that are usually knee length and have long sleeves. I HATE waistbands.

I'm a fan of colour so my clothing is bright, rainbow and patterned. Clashing at times, but I don't really care. I'm comfortable and I like what they look like.

I love fat face clothes generally although I am always between sizes no matter what I weigh and things are either a bit tight or too big or go baggy quickly but they are comfy at least. I get most from
eBay because I can get styles or specific items I know fit but are no longer available new. Trousers need to sit below my belly button. I hope the dungarees look and feel ok.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/01/2022 21:39

thermal base layers all the time. (until summer) I put outer clothes on top when I go out but they come off by the front door as soon as possible.

@AffIt

I'm sad to say I bought some Molke underwear and have returned it all... WAY too much fabric (it feels 'bulky') and even the low rise briefs were too high (I have a very specific area where pants are allowed to 'touch' and I cannot abide the feeling of the waistbands of knickers directly beneath the waistband of my trousers.

Oh well. Back to FatFace it is (even though I then have to spend ten minutes cutting the weirdly prolific labels out of the back of them).

Aww that's a shame. It is a lot of fabric and that's a plus for me. At least you know now.

Bad influences,I have issues with spending and run and fly lured me in,dont know how the dungarees will fare as I'm long bodied.i usually live in leggings and tunics or maggi gas if I can find some soft enough, have to buy wide fit shoes, nothing on my neck and cant wear anything remotely itchy or restrictive.

fantasmasgoria1 · 31/01/2022 23:23

I like loose clothing. Especially since I started the perimenopause recently. Even my tights I buy xl despite the fact I look a bit Nora Batty.

AlternativelyWired · 03/02/2022 10:57

The dungarees have arrived along with a space themed T-shirt from
Sugarhill. I think the legs of the dungarees might need tapering slightly as they seem very wide. The T-shirt is also a size too big as it was in the sale and they didn't have my size. If it's far too big I'll have it taken in too. Dd is going to disown me 🤣

I quite like FatFace clothes in general, but their pants are EXCELLENT - good quality cotton, wash well, nice choice of patterns (I like bees), just the right level of tightness, sit slightly below the belly button/over the hip bones, legs are high but not too high, and a good level of 'bum coverage'. Grin

Only downside is that they have shedloads of labels for some reason, but they're easily cut out.

I'm so oblivious to fashion!

I've never heard of the brand's here.

I can't tell where someone's clothes are from by looking at them. Can others?

I've often been told I'm dressing inappropriately. I like lots of colour and patterns. I don't think I've changed my taste since my teens.

I used to hate tight and wouldnt wear jeans but that's changed recently, now I prefer to be 'held in'.

Im hypersensitive to cold so need my ankles and neck covered at all times. I don't much vary by the seasons. I can't adapt what I wear for the weather so end up getting wet/ too hot.

Can't do itchy. Need things to be super soft.

I used to need to keep my bra on overnight but now I like it off as soon as I get in.

I'd recommend only getting bras properly fitted in bravissimo (or rigby and pellar if near London). It is worth it to have a no feel bra!

I avoid buttons because I find them fiddly. Zips are too cold and I'd get myself/ scarves stick in them!

I have no idea how to accesorise!

With shoes I only do trainers or boots. I struggle with laces. I hate rigid tight shoes. Can't do heels or pointy toes. Can't do flip flops. Don't like the sloshying about in wellies. Don't find uggs supportive enough. Most sandals dig in.

Find it so much emotional work to fit it all together eg what tops go with what bottoms with what shoes. Like skinny jeans with tuck in boots. Colour co ordination. Matching socks- why??

And I hate having to get rid of something that's ripped/ worn/ doesn't fit. Why can't shops keep the same stock so I can replace things????????

For the dungaree wearers - I got a lovely pair of denim dungas in Sainsburys last weekend; they have a couple of styles available. - mine are very very stretchy, so if you find them and like snug get your size or baggy, get a size up.

They have clips on the straps which are a bit stiff to start with and buttons on each side on the leg top (what's the word for that?) plus good pockets on the bib and the legs.

They had sold out online but seem to have more instore.

FeliciaMcAspieGreer · 11/02/2022 00:15

If you hate waistbands I recommend maternity leggings. I am still wearing them several years postpartum as the big wide stretchy panel instead of a waist is sooo comfortable.

Fayekrista · 11/02/2022 00:32

I cannot wear shoes or slippers without socks.... unless its flip flops.... even tights I will put socks on over the top (obviously wearing boots not strappy heels 🤣)
Though I cannot wear just socks.... my toes touch each other & I hate it.... but put slippers on.... thats fine lol

StopStartStop · 11/02/2022 00:35

Soft, black clothes. Very peaceful and soothing.

Comfortable shoes. Wonderful bamboo socks.

ofwarren · 11/02/2022 11:25

My molke has come into its own this past week. I'm having a bit of shutdown and when I get like this I literally don't get dressed.
I've been sleeping in the molke and usually I have to take a bra off before bed. I forget that I'm wearing this one.
I'm current living in legging and a cotton dress over the top. Sleeping in them too.
Fingers crossed I come out the other side soon. I can't concentrate, everything looks so bright and all noises overloading.
The bone crushing exhaustion is awful.

I’ve been stuck in a lovely lightweight cashmere jumper that’s just the right amount of warm for me. It needs a wash but I keep putting it back on.

I get attached to clothes, but never quickly enough to be able to go and buy a few more spares. This one was a Christmas gift and well out of my price range anyway.

SmallGreenStripes · 12/02/2022 13:07

@ofwarren sorry to hear you are having a difficult week. Hope things improve for you soon.

ofwarren · 16/02/2022 10:20

Have you seen the post in AIBU about someone's husband having too many clothes and people are advising her to throw some away, take them to the charity shop or tell him he's only allowed 5 shirts Confused
I feel anxious just reading it!

Loose waist bands and I have to remove labels. I struggle with the stitching around the waistband on jeans sometimes. My absolute pet hates are shoes and bras. Honestly they're the bane of my life. Finding comfortable shoes and bras are my holy grail!
