Was never a fan back in the day, but enjoyed the popular songs. However recently I’ve discovered Pictures of You and what a beautiful song it is !
Any more I need to try ?

Oh yes, Friday I’m in love. Good call!

BeringBlue · 16/11/2022 18:21

I'm a bit late to this thread, but I saw them on Monday night and I may have cried a bit through two whole songs with the sheer emotion of finally getting to see my favourite band after 40 years. It was an incredible night.

Really, they have such a rich and varied back catalogue, my advice is to start at the beginning and work your way through the whole lot. That way, you'll find what works for you (although you may want to skip The Top, because it's very experimental and, apart from The Caterpillar, extremely challenging).

When it comes to live stuff, I echo those who've said their Glasto 2019 performance. Roskilde is a good one too (still on YouTube I think).

To those who have mentioned Catch... yes, the song is lovely. But that's not really why we watch the video on loop is it? He was so beautiful as a young man...

JaneJeffer · 16/11/2022 18:32

Aww that's lovely @BeringBlue glad they were worth the wait

Honeyroar · 16/11/2022 21:23

Good to hear @BeringBlue Im going to see them in December for the first time, after a lifetime of adoring them.

(and I never understood why my flat mates fancied him in the 80s, but now I watch those old videos I understand!)

BeringBlue · 16/11/2022 22:01

@Honeyroar they were brilliant. Have a fantastic time!

UrsulaPandress · 16/11/2022 22:38

Where are they on?

‘Mixed Up’ is also a great album
probaly for completists but it put a new slant on some of their classic songs and some great producers were involved i still listen to it now

saw them live at the Albert Hall for sound waves for green peace (im old !) and at Glastonbury 86/87 maybe ?
have all their ‘albums’ on vinyl still

They definitely played Glastonbury 86.
Don't know about 87.

This thread is excellent — DH and I are seeing them soon!

swirlypinky · 17/11/2022 09:55

The Top (album) has some greats

Birdmad Girl
Catapillar

Where are they on?

They come to venues the U.K. in early December.

BeringBlue · 17/11/2022 21:34

@swirlypinky I forgot Shake Dog Shake, which is brilliant live but I didn't like it as a studio track.

We're just watching their 2019 Rock Werchter festival set again (YouTube), which is one of our favourites.

The setlists for this year's tour so far are available on setlist.fm if anyone is interested.

vatsucked · 08/12/2022 17:48

I saw them in Leeds this week. Just wow. My black eyeliner was definitely running as I dried my eyes! Just Like Heaven was outstanding. Did everyone else enjoy the show?

DuncanBiscuits · 08/12/2022 17:49

We’re seeing them in London on Monday night and I cannot WAIT!

DuncanBiscuits · 08/12/2022 17:50

My brother was there in Leeds and he said it was fantastic.

unsync · 08/12/2022 18:05

Going Sunday, I've waited so long. Loved them since I was a teen, now in my 50s and still love them.

Cheeseandabsolutelycrackers · 08/12/2022 18:07

I was at Leeds, I loved it all but the second encore crowd pleasers were what left me feeling euphoric. The only thing missing was the brass section for Close to Me, but I've seen them play it live before and they never bother to add it

CowPie · 08/12/2022 18:44

Dublin was excellent. His voice is as good as ever.

Purplecatshopaholic · 08/12/2022 18:58

Love The Cure - awesome band!

MrsHaroldRobbins · 11/12/2022 08:53

Just found this thread. I'm going to see them in London tonight! I've seen them about four times before and they are fantastic. Favourite tracks are A Strange Day, A Forest, Play for Today, How Beautiful You Are.

KangarooKenny · 11/12/2022 09:16

You are so lucky ! Enjoy it !

Owww do let us know how you enjoy the gigs, to all those going to the final run of shows in London.

Rainallnight · 11/12/2022 22:52

Ah Catch!

DuncanBiscuits · 12/12/2022 19:18

Waiting for them to come on…

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 12/12/2022 19:21

A bit of trivia. They were called ‘Easy Cure’ in the early days and one of the early members left for a more secure career working for a Building Society.
