Just buy the pornography album . It's excellent

My first ever live gig was seeing them on tour for that album and it was my first proper boyfriend who introduced me to them. Happy memories, and the album still sounds fresh today. From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea is an absolutely gorgeous song!

At the other end of the Cure goth-to-pop scale, I really like Pornography.

Always loved them but they always seemed to be a bit under the radar.

When I was young I read a book about a girl who slept in a bed and time travelled to swap places with a girl in the war, the book was called Charlotte Sometimes and I realised that song is all about the book.
The stranger killing an Arab refers to Albert Camus book l'étranger.

Listen to the whole of Disintegration, in order, and ideally in one sitting. It's an incredible album.

i have wondered if Alan Ball used that song as inspiration for the ‘Charlotte Light and Dark’ storyline in TV series ‘six feet under’ as it would have been set around the same time

Boys Don't Cry is brilliant. I discovered a clip of them before they went goth.

Many happy memories of being a student dancing to this song.

I love Robert Smith so much for having one of the loveliest marriages in rock. He's been with Mary his wife since they sat together in class and they look identical! She doesn't tour with him but she sets her clocks so that she is always in the same time zone as him. So romantic!

Yes I was going to say the same! I love how oddly humble he is - when he comes on stage at live performances he always seems a bit surprised people are there to watch. And he's so hilariously bad at talking to the crowd 😍

One of my favourite bands

My all time favourite band, I've seen them three times. I have various life events associated in my head with their songs. Boys don't cry and in between days are probably my two favourites but I also love close to me and mint car and kiss me kiss me kiss me and killing an Arab and pictures of you and fascination street and...etc

There was a good documentary about The Cure a few years back. Robert Smith records every concert and listens back immediately afterwards to check the sound quality so they can iron out any problems for next time!
