Lyrics you love - a guessing game

Anyone fancy a game? Post some lyrics you love/resonate say why you love them and other posters guess what song they're from.

Mine is "it was cold and it rained and I felt like an actor"

Whenever it's cold and rainy (I live in the North, this is often) and I'm walking down the street I often feel like I'm in a film and it makes me think of this lyric.

Yay!

What about:
"Well I ought to leave but the rain it never stops
And I've no particular place to go."

Japan 'Ghosts'!!! Grin Love the choice!!!

"... Then listen now to what I say
Just get an electric guitar
And take some time and learn how to play
And when your hair's combed right and your pants fit tight
It's gonna be all right".

Haha, yes, I meant to comment on your username, love it!!! I still don't think I have accepted that he has gone. Love you David, always have, always will. The most beautiful man ever! And yes, you are right, of course! Grin

I know Sad I spent all last week and most of this one going through the 7 stages of grief and also it set off a bit of a mid-life crisis but I must admit I've probably listened to more Bowie in the past two weeks than I have for a while so it's not all bad and his music will endure (though realising I will now never become Mrs David Bowie has been a hard thing to admit...)

Yeah, I totally agree with everything you have just said, I've been through exactly the same. I had a Blackstar tattoo on my wrist and cried whilst I was having it done, which was mildly embarrassing. We will always be Mrs Bowies in our dreams! Bowie has been with me for my whole life. The first time I ever saw him was when he did the original intro for The Snowman (yes, really!) and even at that age, I remember thinking, "Wow, who's that?!" Then I even wrote my university dissertation on him and everything. Blackstar is such an incredibly powerful and brave album to leave us with. Apparently (according to Mike Garson), in the 70's, a psychic told him that he would die when he was either 69 or 70.

Lou and David may be gone but Iggy is still with us. Have you heard Iggy's new single? The album, Post Pop Depression, is with Josh Homme and Dean Fertita from Queens of the Stone Age and Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys! I love this ...

That's fab. I guess with Bowie and Reed gone he must be feeling like a marked man...

Yeah, he really must! I love the new song, can't wait to hear the album! I know you will have seen this but this is my favourite documentary of all time ever ...

"There’s a fly floating around in my milk and he’s… he’s a foreign body in it, you see, and he’s getting a lot of milk. That’s kind of how I felt - a foreign body and I couldn’t help but soak it up, you know. I hated it when I first came here, I couldn’t see any of it."

Love the fly in the milk analolgy. Blimey it's'a miracle that he came out of America alive, let alone with his sanity intact!

My DS's very fabulous teacher gave the class the lyrics of Starman for their handwriting practice today :-)

Was a way when we were young, that
Any man was judged by what he'd done
But now you pick them on the screen

Any ideas?

Haha, yes, it really was! Aaw, that is really sweet! It has been 17 days and I still can't believe he is gone Sad

YES, love the choice, it is David Bowie 'Somebody Up There Likes Me'!

How about?

"Oh, Ramona - if there was only something between us
If there was only something between us
Other than our clothes
Something in our skies
Something in our skies
Something in our blood
Something in our skies
Paddy, Paddy
Who's been wearing Miranda's clothes?"

Yes, it was! Smile Ha, and that is Aesop Rock, 'The Greatest Pac-Man Victory in History'. Like it! Grin

How about?

"Caught between the twisted stars
the plotted lines the faulty map
that brought Columbus to New York
Betwixt between the East and West
he calls on her wearing a leather vest
the earth squeals and shudders to a halt
A diamond crucifix in his ear
is used to help ward off the fear
that he has left his soul in someone's rented car".

Here's one...

No one is helpin', they just out for theirself
Outchea tryna make a way, hoping there's a better day
And when you think that you're done
And the storm is raging
Look through the clouds and you can see the sun

Yes, it was Suede 'The Drowners'!!! One of my favourite bands ever! Smile And that is August Alsina 'Look How Far I've Come'. Here is something equally obscure! ...

"So I told you 'bout the total eclipse now
But still it caught you unaware
But I'm telling you, hold on, hold on
Tomorrow will be there".
