On Friday 26th November between 1.30 and 2.30 pm Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are joining us for a live chat.

Torvill and Dean became world famous at the 1984 Winter Olympics when they became the highest scoring figure skaters of all time, scoring maximum points for dance to Ravel's Bolero. (If you've never seen it or haven't seen it since the 80's it worth a look - we've been marvelling at it this morning on YouTube at Mumsnet HQ)

They were enticed out of retirement to take part in ITV's Dancing On Ice which begins again in early 2011. The Dancing on Ice Live Tour 2010 DVD is out on November 29th and Tickets for the Dancing On Ice Live Tour 2011 are now on sale from Dancing on Ice Live Tour 2011
Join us on Friday to chat Jayne and Christopher and if you're unable to make it, send your questions to them in advance of the chat to this thread.

@Rockbird

My question... (as well as echoing what Pennies says about the truly awful moulded plastic hire skates with hockey blades.

I'd like to ask how Jayne got involved with the Demelza charity.

I'd also like to know if your children skate and are they good at it! :)

Eek!

No! One's a soccer (football) player and one's a runner.

RozzyJnC · 26/11/2010 13:37

Hi Jayne and Chris, Hope you are well :) I can't wait for Dancing On Ice 2011!!

My question is, do your children enjoy skating and have you taught them anything on ice? :)

JayneTorvill · 26/11/2010 13:37

@bridlah

Hi Jayne and Chris,

What keeps you motivated and inspired to keep performing and pushing the boundaries of skating e.g. developing Dancing On Ice, after all these years?

Can't wait to see you both back on the ice for the new series of DOI :)

Brina.

Hi Brina, I think live television keeps you motivated, we always enjoy the creative process that the programme allows us

hannah19 · 26/11/2010 13:38

Sorry but i have to ask this Jayne when you were at the Somerset House opening the coat you wore where is it from?? I LOVE it lol x

ChristopherDean · 26/11/2010 13:38

@Fimbo

Who out of all the celebrities on Dancing on Ice has been the best skater in your opinion?

I think if I could mash them together, I'd take little Suzanne Shaw, a little Ray Quinn, and to top it off Chris Fountain. That would be the best skater in Dancing on Ice.

kc9music · 26/11/2010 13:38

David Beckham is actually in town where I live at the moment Jayne

Dulcinea · 26/11/2010 13:38

Hello Jayne and Chris. I missed the tour last year, but I can't wait to catch up on the next one!
Maybe it's a bit too early to ask but my question is, what are your plans once the Dancing On Ice adventure is over? Any chance you may get involved in working with any competitive figure skater? Chris, I'm enjoying your choreographies for Crone/Poirier a lot: a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale world. I'd love to see some choreographical work from the both of you. Nowadays ice dance needs you!

ChristopherDean · 26/11/2010 13:38

@GreyGhost

Hello Jayne and Chris,

Can you confirm whether or not this coming series will in fact be the last one? (I sincerely hope not)

Thanks

It's from year to year, if a lot of people watch it, we'll be doing it again!

ZaraC · 26/11/2010 13:39

ZaraC · 26/11/2010 13:40

First of all, if you missed the tour last year, the DVD's coming out on the 29th of November, and we'll be touring again after this series.

As for the future, I'm sure I'll keep my skates on in some form even if it's just walking around the house in them - thank you re: the choreography for the Canadians, I'm watching their progress this year.

Bue · 26/11/2010 13:41

Hi Jane and Chris!

Chris, you are a world renowned choreographer. (Like another poster above mentioned, I LOVE the Eleanor Rigby free dance you created for Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier of Canada this season!)

Do you have a favourite program that you have choreographed for another team over the years?

DeckTheIceWithDragonsAndHolly · 26/11/2010 13:41

Recently returned to training after a long break.

Can i ask if you think the change from the Old dance field moves and free field moves to the combined field moves under the new nisa test system actually helps improve the general standard of skating and the movement between the 2 disciplines?
The level 2 field moves seem really hard to control in the new pattern compared to the expectations of the old prelim free field moves.

ZaraC · 26/11/2010 13:41

Hey Chris saw you on Battle of the Blades you looked great ;)

JayneTorvill · 26/11/2010 13:42

Sorry PC running a bit slow bear with me.

ZaraC · 26/11/2010 13:42

Jayne,Chris whats your favourite telvision show at the moment?

kc9music · 26/11/2010 13:43

Hello Jayne and Chris,
I'm not an ice dancer but I dance (Contemporary ballet). Got my dance concert tomorrow.
Do you have any advice for performer like me?

Thanks

oilauren · 26/11/2010 13:43

Hi Jayne and Chris,
What would be your perfect Christmas and what's on your list this year?

Lauren x

JayneTorvill · 26/11/2010 13:43

@hannah19

Sorry but i have to ask this Jayne when you were at the Somerset House opening the coat you wore where is it from?? I LOVE it lol x

The coat was from a boutique in Tubridge Wells called La Belle Femme

ChristopherDean · 26/11/2010 13:43

@Partyof52010

Oh how exciting!!
My question is this (sorry if its already been asked) Which celebs would you most like to take part in DOI and why?
Ooh it feels like chritmas Grin

I think Jayne would like a Mr Beckham or a Mr Williams...

I'd like a tall partner to take part, maybe Angelina Jolie - think she might be busy with the family though!

GreyGhost · 26/11/2010 13:43

Without giving anything away (which you wouldn't anyway!) How are this year's celebrities shaping up? Have you spotted this years DOI version of Ann Widdecombe?

NeverEatYellowTaintedSnow · 26/11/2010 13:43

Hi Jayne and Chris!

I have to ask, has the public voting ever frustrated you? Ie, have you seen one of your favourite celebrities go out early when they (in your opinion) still had a long way to go?

Can't wait for the new series!

RozzyJnC · 26/11/2010 13:44

Do you watch X Factor? :D lol x

JayneTorvill · 26/11/2010 13:44

@ZaraC

Jayne,Chris whats your favourite telvision show at the moment?

I liked The Only Way Is Essex and Downton Abbey
Not watching as much as training for new Dancing on Ice series

hannah19 · 26/11/2010 13:44
