My best friend at secondary school was abducted and never seen again. She vanished in a spell that cannot have been more than 3 minutes because that it how long it took to walk between our houses. I remember that the parents were (strongly) suspected but nothing was ever proved.

The young couple who purchased the house next door to us had lived there for less than 2 weeks before a removal van arrived to move them out again.

Dave M had worked in the dept for 3+ years but then took a new job in Liverpool. He gave all of us a new but false address and a fictitious phone number.

Wow these stories are very strange. Had a few strange things happen in my mums home when we was little!

One afternoon my mums boyfriend was in the bath and he heard a smashing noise, thinking my mum was downstairs. Getting out the bath he realised there was no one in the house except him.
The next day my mum was cleaning the bathroom, she decided to have a bath because she was going out that evening. It was about 4pm, (she had just cleaned it) When she got out and let the water out, at the bottom of the bath was little/big pieces of sharp glass sticking up into the air.

Mum to this day doesnt know how the hell she got in and out of a bath with shards of glass in it.

nickelbabe · 22/05/2010 10:52

that's weird Cheeky.

i take it that was related to the glass being broken when the boyfriend was in the bath?

About 7 yrs ago I was working in Europe and helped a lovely family with a very sick baby, that wasn't being taken seriously by the local hospital(very junior inexperienced doctor).
I got exceptionally bossy, demanded to see a consultant to get it sorted, and the little lad was airlifted off to the mainland to be sorted.
Thankfully, he made a full recovery.

A few years later, a long ago ex girlfried of my brother (who he nearly married but had split from about 10 yrs before) tracked him down to say "was nursie working in x that summer"? Brother said yes, turned out that the family I helped had been round for dinner at hers and they had spent an evening talking about me. gets very embarassed

Small small world...

I remember being in about year nine at school (so roughly 13/14) and hearing on the local radio that a boy in our school year was missing. That was on a Saturday, and then on Monday he was at school as though nothing had ever happened. I was in the same classes as him for some subjects but never felt comfortable asking what had gone on - I always assumed he had either run away from home and had been found really quickly or had come back voluntarily himself after a day or two. I still wonder about it now.

I was born with a heart condition (Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome) which meant that sometimes my heart would start beating really fast (over 150-200 beats per minute). It often used to be triggered by getting hiccups! I used to tell my parents this but they had no reason to believe it since I always looked fine, plus I had an active imagination. It wasn't until I was nine or ten and it happened when I was at the doctors for something else and the GP took my pulse as a routine thing that it was diagnosed. I had an operation a few years later that sorted it out and have been fine since. Not before I had a few attacks at school though, which resulted in them calling an ambulance and rushing me off to casualty! (I freely admit to having loved all the attention!)

Going out with a bloke in Spain who worked in a bar (how very original) and discovering that in his bar there was a mural on the wall made up of portraits of real, and fictitious people. Next to his portrait was mine. Except it had been done the year before I met him and was one of the made-up faces.

Being on a coach in Thailand and sitting on a dodgy seat that kept reclining of its own accord so far back that I had my head in the lap of the bloke behind me for 16 hrs....after about 8 of which, he said "sorry, but did you go to Salford University?"

CheekyPinkSox · 22/05/2010 12:19

nicklebabe my mum has no idea to this day where they shards of glass came from but she thinks it could have something to do with the smashing sound. My mum said the shards of glass looked like big pieces of a large glass ashtray so very sharp pieces.

Knowing that my boyfriend had committed suicide when I returned home from work as the key was in the back of the door so I couldn't get in but when I looked through the letter box I saw our cat sitting on the living room floor looking up towards the ceiling. I just knew what had happened.

When dd was aged around 18m - 2 years (can't exactly remember) we had been out in the car and pulled up outside our house. Dd pointed to next door's house and said "Lucy gone".
Lucy was the name of next door's dd who had sadly died from leukamia 4 years previously. There was no way dd could have known about her.

When I was at uni doing international business studies I went on an exchange to a German uni for 6 months. Our yeargroup in Germany consisted of a third British, a third German and a third French students. One of the male French students was very very odd. Asking female students to come out in his car, come out into the woods etc. He just had an air of creepyness about him. Towards the end of our 6 month stay he was arrested. Turns out he had been wanted in France for murdering a female (not sure if she was a girlfriend or fellow student) and he had kept her body in the boot of his car. The same car he had with him in Germany. Shudder.

When my Gran died last year dp was away on a course.

I had just put my dd to bed and then went back into my room. There was something black sat on the end of my bed that really spooked me.

It wasnt for a while that I realised that might have been my Gran. Now I am convinced it was. I 'knew' she was going to go that day and did things thinking 'just in case we have to rush to hospital' - We made it within 10 minutes of her pasing away and the things that I did were all very much needed.

hatingmyjob · 22/05/2010 12:31

Not me but - my nephew who is now 18 used to be a bit like drloves DTs.

DB and SIL live on a country lane which is about a mile stretch between 2 main roads.

When DN was about 4 he woke up one morning and told SIL there was no point in getting dressed because nobody was going anywhere today because of teh helicopter. SIL was a bit puzzled but assumed it was the usual ramblings of a 4 YO.

Forward an hour and there was an almighy bang outisde. DB went to investigate and there had been a nasty accident involving 2 cars and a motorbike about 100 yards up from their driveway. Emergency services arrived super quick (police, 2 ambulances and a fire engine).

Hence the road was blocked in both directions for most of the morning. A person was airlifted to hospital from the field next to their house and DB and SIL couldn't gert out of the driveway until nearly lunchtime. Too late for both to get to work and take DN to nursery. They stayed in for the rest of the day!!!!

At the grand age of 34 getting memories of being sexually abused and less than a year later have a full picture of what happened and speaking to the police about it. Nothing is the way it was - life is divided in bm and am (before and after memories)

I didn't have an easy childhood but one thing I'd always been sure of: I hadn't been abused.

Well I had been - so bad that it was all switched off and put away for more than 25 years.

BuzzingNoise · 22/05/2010 12:38

Spooky stuff!

A friend of mine died suddenly a few years back. He was extremely popular and there were a couple of hundred people at his cremation. I was standing next to a man who was holding his small child, who kept pointing up to the roof and saying that 'X was on the ceiling' (X being the friend who had died).

When I was 2, I had measles. (No MMR then) I was quite unwell with it. Anyway my nan died about a month or so before this.
Apparently my mum got me out of bed to use the potty, I sat in it, looked her in the eye and said: "Nana's gone to heaven but I dont want to go". Then I passed out,and promptly stopped breathing.
Poor mum picked me up, ran out of the house and flagged down a passing car who took me to the hospital. Helpful driver insisted that it was probably too late as I was already dead.
Luckily hospital was about only 5 mins away.

And I got better.

Gamam · 22/05/2010 12:50

When i was a kid, we moved house and my bedroom was always freezing

My mum would regularly hear my crying at night and go into my room to find me sleeping soudnly

she mentioned it to a neighbour who said that a baby of the last occupatns had died in that room poor little mite

When DD was 18m we were on our way to my mum's house, DD kept saying "granny's been sick" and when we got there, she had - dd had NO way of knowing this.

My Dad died when DD was 3 adn they were very close. We had the loft converted for DD and on her first night in that room she felt a bit nervous about being up there on her own, but heard Grandad say "it's ok darling" and that she felt fine afterwards

The house I shared with flatmates at uni was a bit freaky. I never felt comfortable in our kitchen, always felt like i had to look behind me, as if somebody was watching me. my flatmates felt the same too. weird also was that all our forks went missing one by one. Friends also felt something when they were in the house, one actually frreaked out because she saw something.

One day I was in the house alone watching T.V in my flatmates room. My room was next to hers and I diddnt have a t.v. anyway was watching t.v when I saw somebody walk past the door and into my room. I freaked out cause I knew nobody was at home and started shouting out who is there? After a few minutes I got the courage to go into my bedroom to see. there was nobody in there, it was just extremely cold. After that I refused to stay in that house by myself.

Also since I was a small child I hated my birthday, I would (and still do) cry like crazy feeling an intense loneliness. When I was about 10 my mother told me that I was a twin and that my twin died before I was born .

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 22/05/2010 13:58

Along Tigga's lines, finding out that someone I'd dated briefly and dumped for being too soppy and nicey-nicey was sent to prison indefinitely for sadistic sex crimes against women and posessing child porn. Grim.

BuzzingNoise · 22/05/2010 15:17

Samoa, we had similar things in a house I lived in when I was a teenager. My brother and I would often see a couple of people walking along the hallway. There was never anyone there though.

BloomingFlowers · 22/05/2010 15:26

I knew my Mum was in bad trouble.

Long story short; I can't stand her. She was/is cruel and nasty (to me alone; not my younger siblings).

They're rich. Swanned off on another holiday. For some reason on the morning they arrived back I 'phoned; wouldn't normally.

She sounded normal; but I couldn't shake a really bad feeling. I 'phoned again about 2 hours later as I was feeling increasingly agitated/disquietened. No answer.

I just knew something.

I phoned the police.

They could see my mother from the porch.

She'd had a massive brain heamorrhage (sp)

Nancy66 · 22/05/2010 15:34

A male colleague went to the police and claimed that I had raped him. this was about 10 years ago.

he invented the most bizarre and detailed story about me going to his house to borrow his camera - he offered me a cup of tea, I said I needed to use the bathroom, I was gone ages so he came upstairs to see if I was ok - he found me in his bedroom where I over powered him, tied him up and forced him to have sex with me.

He was 6ft 2 and about 15 stone btw - I'm 5ft 5 and 9 stone.

CCTV footage plus the statements of about six witnesses proved I was nowhere near his home when i was supposed to have attacked him.

I hardly knew the guy, didn't work directly with him.

Very odd

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 22/05/2010 16:00

Now that is odd, Nancy. Did he get done for wasting police time?

Cogitoergosum · 22/05/2010 16:03

Nancy!

I wonder if he got some kind of kick out of the fantasy? I can't think of another reasonable explanation!

Did he carry on working at the same place?

I love this thread, btw. I like a good mystery

AgentZigzag · 22/05/2010 16:08

I had a dream that I was laying on my back with a baby laid on my front and I was really interested in getting to know her, a week later I found out I was pregnant with DD1.

I told this to my MIL a couple of years later and she said she'd had a similar dream about DH that she looked down and her stomach was transparent and she could see him moving about.

I had another one when I was pregnant that I was at the top of the stairs and telling my Dad that I didn't have enough formula to feed the baby, and unfortunately I miscarried about a week later.

Then with DD2 (when I knew she was there) I dreamt I was looking at babygrows to buy for her with DD1, luckily all was well this time, and it did put my mind at rest.

Pity I don't dream what the lottery numbers are going to be, I don't mind sharing so if I do I'll let you know
