Went in a cafe of the wrong class today. [sad face]

There were 2 cafes near each other. I picked the wrong one. I'm lower middle class and the cafe was for middle middle class to about lower upper class. I should have guessed by the little accent they put over the 'e' in the name.

I went in and up to the counter and asked for a sausage roll and a hot chocolate and they didn't give it to me. I was told to go sit at a table. My sausage roll came served on a plate with salad which, and you might not believe this, somebody had drizzled on! I'm guessing it was basil oil or some such frippery, although the cafe with an accent was next to a boating lake the same colour.

I should have gone to the other one where I'm sure I could have just taken the sausage roll in a bag or on a paper plate without being drizzled at. Sad

It's hard being English.

Our local cafe is run by a Turkish family. Excellent food, pictures on the menu. But the tea is brutally strong. 2 tea bags in the mug and a dribble of milk. Basically I think they are making tea like Turkish coffee ie very strong. I order a cappuccino now (one shot) as it's less stressful. Quite a monster caffeine hit still. And they always give my dd a lollypop. It's her favourite cafe!

Friend of mine was recently served a cocktail in a washed sweetcorn tin. I kid you not. Think I would have asked for a glass.

It's pretty chichi round our way, in fact there is a clothes shop called just that - Chichi. But this one café took it too far - organic sandwiches - £8. I actually did an about face and walked out taking DS with me. Just not paying £8 for a sandwich in a café. It didn't last. Not long after shutting down, it re-opened, half the previous name stenciled on the window was scraped off and the word "Mugs" has been scrawled in a barely literate fashion, making it "Mugs café". Other fixtures and fittings unchanged, sandwiches only slightly cheaper.

I think I know the cafe OP referred to. I went there for breakfast today and the scrambled egg came with a dainty side order of rocket leaves!

@HoneyDragon

That's why they are for swinging Tigs. You make do with what you end up with after you've let go.

I know you wrote your comment two years ago, but I had to let you know it just made me genuinely laugh out loud. 😆
