Isn't it?!

Twiglett · 20/01/2007 16:47

he should be rustic and manly with a faint northern twang

OP posts:
sleepyted · 20/01/2007 17:04

Did you really expect a manly voice Twigggg?

eemie · 20/01/2007 17:43

weedy is exactly what I would have imagined! And whiny. Have we been reading the same column?

I can't bear his columns.

Is their sheer bloody pointlessness meant to be the point, or what?

He is even worse than William Leith, and he was bad.

Blandmum · 20/01/2007 17:58

Is he the guy that did all the stuff about David Ikie and the conspiracy theories?

Dinosaur · 20/01/2007 17:59

I don't remember him writing about David Ike, but I did stop reading the Observer for quite a few years, so I might have missed that.

And I hate Guy Browning's column, but that's mainly because I knew him at Oxford.

Lio · 20/01/2007 18:21

ON a similar theme, anyone read Julie Burchill then heard her voice? Totally at odds with each other.

Troutpout · 20/01/2007 18:27

You enjoy his columns Twiglett

Troutpout · 20/01/2007 18:28

julie birchall's voice is fantastic...it's helium enduced surely

moondog · 20/01/2007 18:29

Ronson used to be hilarious in Time Out about 12 years ago.
Yes,Burchill's voice is astounding.

tigermoth · 20/01/2007 18:42

Ronson, Birchill, writers with bad voices (because no one will listen to them when they talk?) I see a pattern emerging.

I always remember reading something Guy Browinging wrote about him changing agents and not getting any writing work, very whinging and bitter.

I do .. he witters on about being a Dad and making all these decisions for his children and then he throws in his wife's comments and you think "see, now she's got brain cells"

makes me larf

seems quite real

edam · 20/01/2007 18:46

Why on earth would Ronson have a northern accent? Pretty sure he's north London Jewish (was at uni a couple of years below him). He was jolly rude to me once so f*ck him, frankly.

Twiglett · 20/01/2007 18:46

see .. this is todays

motherinferior · 20/01/2007 18:46

I can get not getting any writing work at home for nothing, ffs, you don't need an agent!

Twiglett · 20/01/2007 18:48

what?

MI, that makes no sense

It was a complicated and clearly failed Goodness Gracious Me ref (you can get it at home for nothing, beta!) but actually demonstrated pretty well why I don't have a national column

motherinferior · 20/01/2007 18:50

EF was a mate of my ex's and reminds me rather uncomfortably of him.

ScummyMummy · 20/01/2007 18:53

I've long despised Jon Ronson's burbling inanities, whether spoken or in print. I'm delighted to learn I'm not alone and that his popularity is decreasing due to his overexposure so that even previous fans such as Twiglett now have reservations. Great news.

Troutpout · 20/01/2007 18:53

god he's bad isn't he...so boooring
mememe,iii,selfselfself...every blardy week!
