I am Jon Ronson's wife. A friend told me that my husband was the subject of a vitriolic debate on this site but, even having seen it, I can't believe he has attracted so much opprobrium. I have a suggestion for you all: just don't read his columns/features/books; don't listen to his radio programmes or watch his documentaries and you will save yourselves a few hissy fits. Don't bother responding to this post as I won't be visiting the site again.

Oh dear, I was just coming on to say that I think he's really funny and I love his column, but now I look like a creep.

Of course he's got a whiney voice Twig, he's paranoid fgs. All paranoics are quite whiney and plaintive. Goes with the territory.

Ha Ha "vitriolic debate"
You should see them when they really get going.

no joke. he just sent me an email to my home address.

i'm waiting to hear back what i've been accused of, the only thing i can find that i've written about him is that he's a creepy little fucker. and nothing about his behaviour so far is suggesting i've made an error of judgement...

Is this for real?

I really like Jon Ronson but he does have quite an odd voice - reminds me of David Beckham tbh. Same with Julie Birchill, famously odd voice. I still like their writing though.

Why is he getting so upset about it? Very not Jon Ronson I think, so I'm wondering if it's really from him/his wife.

Seems to me if you want to make a living writing about the minutiae of your life, your kids, your wife, you are setting yourself up for public view. If you don't want people to know about you, react to you, think anything about you, then don't talk about yourself in public.

Are you SURE this isn't a hoax?

I'd be pretty pissed off if someone called my DH a creepy fucker

LOL. Aitch, he's doing a Linda McCartney on you. lol.

dunno, honestly. i've searched and can't find it. so has he, according to his email.

apparently some pal has told them that i've been nasty about him and has quoted some things i said. i think he's creepy and weird and i don't like his writing style, never have. i mourned the day he took over from Victor Lewis-Smith at Time Out. But if he's hurt by that sort of criticism he really ought to get over himself.

Oh. and i may have retold a story that he wrote about going back to Wales to confront his teenage bullies and them finding him just as irritating as ever.

And I do not give my permission for anythign i've said to be re-printed in his column. MN owns most copywrights here, or i do, so no reproduction without contacting me or MN to discuss payment i'd think. i guess he's just having a tough time with next week's column, but really...

I bet he skulks outside the windows of the cogniscenti listening to their dinner party chat to see if they mention him. Then he bursts into tears in the flower beds when someone says 'Oh god that Jon Ronson, he does go on doesn't he? The dramas of his blackberry getting soaked, who cares? I ask you.'

Quiddaitch · 13/07/2007 11:58

tut tut... i'd expect a wee email, 100x. i'd love to post it here but seeing as i'm being prissy about my copywright i suppose i should respect his.

LOL at the thought of this going the same way as GF. Imagine the court case:

I think this is funny.

I like him actually, he makes me laugh. Though all this carry-on isn't very good. Most odd.

oh I shouldn't larf

I still like the way he writes though ... apart from the blackberry column which was patently I've run out of material ... he's funny

Are you going to reply to the email aitch?

Report
Quiddaitch · 13/07/2007 12:08

i have done, just asking for further clarification as to what i'm being accused of. he says the pal told him what i said, so tbh with the amount of times we all change our names on here it could just as easily have been someone else.

plus, i know he's a sensitive soul but there's nothing i've said that i wouldn't happily say to his face, as i recall. so tbh i think he or his friend have got it wrong, lol.

edam's the one who's met him, btw, and she thought he was awful. i wonder if she got an email?
