To ask what is the strangest/creepiest thing that has ever happened to you?

I have two strange/creepy unexplained events that stick in my head.

The first happened when I was teenager, my DF ran his business from our family home and we had a phone/fax machine in the living room. Whenever we picked up the phone we could always hear a radio station playing very distantly on the other end. I'll never forget the time I picked up the phone to ring a friend and could hear Penny Lane playing!

The other is slightly more sinister. My DM and I were at home alone one evening, it was summer and still warm and I had the bedroom window open. I can remember hearing a loud crash in the garden, thought maybe the cat had knocked something over and thought little of it. Then my mum suddenly popped her head around the door told me that she was going to bed and that she'd "locked all of the doors". Thought it was an odd thing to say, but thought little of it. That night I was kept awake by the next door neighbours security light going on and off, and when I got up the next morning my DM pointed out that the garden ornaments and solar lights from next to the fence had been smashed.

That's when she told me that she to and heard the crashing sound the night before, and got up to investigate and when she looked through the kitchen window she was convinced she could see a person peering through the window, as as if they were standing next to it with their back against the wall and peeing in from the side, but wasn't sure if she was seeing things or not! She was scared enough to lock all of the doors, but not to ring he police it seems! Still freaks me out now! I'm sure someone was in our garden for whatever reason!

My seven year old had a friend to stay the other night. It was about 7pm and pitch black outside and both boys came to tell me that there had been a creepy man with staring eyes standing outside our porch and tapping on the glass at them. DH was on his works Xmas do and wasn't likely to be back until the early hours. As the evening went on the boys wound each other up with ever more creepy details of what this man looked like and I was genuinely scared and couldn't go to sleep. Anyway next morning I found a card from Yodel in the porch, they'd been doing late deliveries and I realised our bell wasn't working. I felt very silly.

My school one:

Walking through an empty (apart from me) and silent block of our local primary at about 5pm one lovely summer evening, i noticed a mess of toys and belongings on the carpet area of an open plan sunny class room, just to one side of me as i passed by.

My back was turned for 10/15 seconds max, and then, as i turned to go back past the carpet area again the things from the carpet were now in a beautifully balanced, size ordered pile in the center of the carpet. About 3 foot high. Still total silence. Still no one around.

I felt no sense of fear (until thinking about it later). I remember stopping in my tracks. I remember actually smiling. I wish wish wish i had taken a photograph of it.

I told no one at the school about it. (who would believe me?) One day later that week the teacher who worked in that classroom told me that the clock on the wall above her desk had ''flown'' off the wall some 4 meters and landed in the center of the class, who were all seated on the carpet area.

No idea how to explain any of it.

My grandfather was a night watch man in a factory a long time ago. One night he saw a lady in 19 century maid clothes walking in the air between two buildings. The learnt the next day that there used to be a corridor between the buildings.

My sister when a child used to tell us about her other family (she was oldest with lots of brothers) and used to draw pictures of a fountain surrounded by houses. She stop telling us when she got to age 5-6.

Mine's not fun, just horrible.

A woman was missing, assumed murdered, and it was on the news. She had gone missing from a large city.

A few days afterwards I went walking with my husband many, many miles away from that city. There was a loo in the carpark and when I went in I could feel her there, I knew that she had been there, and I knew she was close by.

I told my husband but no one else, because everyone would have thought I was the worst kind of person - trying to get involved in someone else's tragedy.

A couple of weeks afterwards her body was found buried a couple of hundred yards from the carpark.

My Dad, brother and I were out walking in a field near our house, probably about 17 years ago. We came across two children in Victorian clothes who were in the field collecting sticks and vanished into thin air.

with friends from art college going to get some stuff for a project and my friend was driving - we were about to enter the roundabout when suddenly the car seemed to stall but the engine was still on - at the same time a car shot on from an exit to our right which comes from a dual carriageway - when she had gone to enter the roundabout there hadn't even been a car at the exit - he shot accross the front of us at over 60mph and I reckon we would have been in a crash if the car had moved - the engine revved but it was like there was no power - as soon as that car went past the car started to move.

My friend swears blind that she's seen a ghost. She was doing someone's hair when a little girl appeared in the doorway at the end of the kitchen. She said 'who's that?' expecting the old lady to say oh that's my granddaughter of something and she said oh that's our ghost. When friend whipped her neck around to look again there was no one there and she didn't see her again. The old lady said lots of people had seen her.

I really hope there's been some mistake there. Shock

I was about 17 still living at home but my parents were away for the weekend do I was home alone.
I went to bed and fell asleep but woke around midnight to a cacophony of sounds. Screams, animal sounds, sirens, white noise, talking, horns, all jumbled up sounds. I got out of bed to try and determine where the noise was coming from, came downstairs and realised the sound was coming from outside. I opened the front door and the noise was really loud in the air.
I stood on the doorstep for around 20 minute just listening until It faded away. The following day I scoured the newspaper reports to see if there had been any accidents in the area but nothing was reported. This was 25 years ago. I can still hear how it sounded now, creeps me out still.....

I'd just turned 16 and went to see The Silence of The Lambs in the cinemas. At one point the hairs on the back of my neck went up and I looked around to see two empty seats next to me and the third (aisle) seat occupied by a man staring unblinkingly at me and masturbating.

I was travelling around Vietnam. we arrived at a little beach town very late and driver took us to a hostel. it was very clean and looked as though it had been converted from an old official council type building

as soon as I feel asleep I went into a weird dream, I felt as though someone was in the room and I wanted to scream but I couldn't. I then went into a deeper sleep and felt as though I was looking down at myself

In the morning I felt quite unsettled but put it down to not having much sleep for a few days

the next evening very similar and even more unsettling. I dreamt a soldier (American or European) was sitting at the end of the bed crying, I could see a Vietnamese women in traditional dress standing there talking to him and she walked away. then suddenly I know he had killed himself I can not explain how I knew this

I refused to stay there any longer so we moved. did not tell anyone why but later that day we found out that the building was used to hide american soldiers that had gone awol

I went to a party in a rural village with mates and was the designated sober driver. I drove half our party back to their homes and went to bed. I woke up about 2am with what I can only describe as a solid looking shadow at the bottom of my bed and my big 1980's beatbox hissing whitenoise. It stood there for about 20 minutes, then vanished, and the radio turned off. I stayed up the rest of the night.

In the morning one of my friends told me that a friend who had stayed on at the party had turned his car on an unlit roundabout and was in a coma.

About 10 minutes after that, yet another friend ang to tell me she had been freaked out by a ghost at her bed at 2am.

Our friend did not die, but he can't remember the event or being in a coma for 4 months. It did happen at around 1.30 in the morning though.

That afternoon she had a stroke whilst out shopping and died a week later.

DH and I did an evening tour of Hampton Court Palace once - one of those after hours, behind the scenes things.

At one point the guide was telling us about a short stretch of corridor that was supposedly particularly haunted and got us to walk through in pairs. It was gloomy and I was sure I could hear a lady chattering to one side but didn't say anything because I assumed it was part of the tour, some kind of joke. All regrouped at the other end and everyone was mumbling about not having heard anything. The guide admitted he had never heard anything either but it was fun to see if anyone did.

Only problem was I kept hearing snatches of the same chattering noise all through the tour and even in the car on the way home a few times. Really freaked me out and DH never heard a thing the whole time.

later that morning I saw the news

my dad had been caught up in the tsumani in sri lanka around the time I had this dream

Earlier this year I was working with a guy who was working off-site temporarily but we really missed each other (couldn't see each other out of work for various reasons), and I absolutely needed to see him at one point to discuss something. He used to come by the office occasionally and unannounced, so I have no way of explaining the fact that I went down to the main reception at exactly the same time that he was coming in to attend a meeting. We were able to have our chat and I was totally freaked out (and so was he probably!)

I have many more examples of this type of thing; I tend to be quite psychic and sixth sensey when under stress...
