Kim, first page. Yes if a tree falls and there is no one there, it makes a sound!
Eccentric, the universe is always increasing.we would never get to the end.

I too want to know how the french decided on what is feminine and what is masculine.

If there is no sort of intelligence behind creation how did it happen? There must have been a beginning and matter has to have an origin-nothing [absolute nothing] has no atoms/molecules to expand/explode/change whatever. So my question is how did 'it' all begin?

numtum

You can't rationalise your way out of being scared of a spider, as when you're confronted with the object of your fear, you enter fight or flight mode, which is a purely instinctive thing, where your thinking brain shuts down. You are functioning purely in the animal part of your brain. rational thought doesn't exist there. That's also why we don't form clear narrative memories of traumatic events - the part of our brain that forms narratives isn't "switched on."

queenoflouisiana my Irish DH still can't get his head round the different words and the Mackem/ Geordie language differences. I tried to explain pit yakker to him yesterday and it nearly finished him off !

Hugo, there aren't any seeds in/on a carrot. It's part of the root of the carrot plant. If allowed to, the carrot plant above the ground would develop flowers. If the flowers are pollinated then seeds form.

I have a creation one too.

If no god created the universe - where did it come from. what was before the big bang? first there was nothing in the universe and then there was stuff? tiny little bits of stuff just came together, right? But where from?

But if there is a god, where did god come from? if the argument is that the universe couldn't possibly just be, then a being capable of creating a universe couldn't just exist from nothing and must therefore have been created. So why don't we worship a being capable of creating a being capable of creating a universe?

But. That means that there is a being capable of creating a being capable of creating a being capable of creating a universe.

and so on and so forth.

but if there isn't a god, and therefore a god's god and a god's god's god etc - where did the universe come from? Where did those first scraps of material come from that started it all off? How was there enough of it to make an entire universe?

Ilike, gender in French is probably like German (there, it's out), the natural gender is obvious (brother, uncle - male, aunt, mum. sister - female), and a few rules like mountains are always male, etc. The huge rest depends on the ending. Certain endings in nouns - always male ...female...neuter.

That explains why the moon is female in French and male in German, the sun is male in French and female in German. Confused? Grin

"Why are there so many bent old people in England ? I know people can stoop a bit when they get older but i find in england there are a lot of very bent old people Is there some degenerative back problem ?"

Screening for back problems like kyphosis and scoliosis are crap in England. In America children are checked in school and there is effective treatment. In England is has to be quite bad before it's picked up, in my own personal experience if you don't pick it up in childhood/teens your choices are major spinal surgery or a curved spine as an adult. I chose the curved spine.

ImTooHecsy. hate the sin, love the sinner.
So hate the behaviour as much as you like. but Christians are taught to love the sinner.
God will decide at the end, and if he decides they have been abominable, they are in big trouble.

Also, "Do not judge, and you will not be judged;do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven;give, and it will be given to you. Agood measure, presed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap;for the measure you give will be the measure you get back".

my friend discovered she had a curverture (sp?) of her spine when she had xrays done because she was having back pain during sex. it was really quite noticeable on the xray but we had never noticed it before that.

So, basically, take it up the shitter in this life, allow people to royally crap all over you, have a miserable life yourself while those who treat you like shit on their shoe are laughing it up because if there's a god, when they die, they probably won't have a good time of it then?

Forgive me if I'm not liking the sound of that all too much.
