Please feel free to ask questions and if I know the answer I will tell you, also feel free to answer others questions!

My stupid question is

Would I be able to see nits in my sons very short hair if he had them? (He has short brown hair)?

iwasyoungonce - you might like this - I think Tim Minchin has something to say on the subject

a prolapse is just a term for when something that is supposed to be inside the body comes outside the body.

So a prolapsed rectum can be when part of the rectum protrudes from the anus. A prolapsed uterus is when part of the uterus protrudes down into the vagina (ok not strictly outside the body).

I have another Q - why are vitamin pill bottles so big when companies are otherwise making such a big show of saving on packaging? You buy a bottle of say, 50 multivitamins and the bottle is 3½" tall but the pills only cover the bottom inch of it.

Jidget · 03/06/2013 21:15

I understand LunaticFringe, and you could only find out if you were inside another person's brain/eyes. Blue to you could be like yellow to me, etc.

My hair doesn't get wet in the shower at all. I point it at my body, not my head. In fact I hate washing my hair in the shower, I wash it under the bath taps Smile.

suckmabigtoe I think that it's Ghengis Khan we're all meant to be related too. Google says 1 in 200 men are direct descendants - something to do with particular markers on the Y chromosome.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 03/06/2013 21:25

Vitamins in big bottles....to make you feel like you are getting value for money maybe.

Stase · 03/06/2013 21:32

Methe I can, and I get feedback when the wind blows in my ears too. I hate it! Left ear is worse, and the doctor says there's lots of fluid in the bit behind the eardrum, but not worth doing anything about.

Great thread!

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 03/06/2013 21:32

Methe...yes :)

MrsVamosRAFA · 03/06/2013 21:34

This is a fantastic thread.

I want to know, why, when I do not like summer time or warmer weather, I am much more an autumn/winter person, why, oh why do I find myself waking up earlier and earlier every morning at the moment ? Like, unreasonably early ? Hmm

I am always thinking things I wouldn't dare ask in real life. Typically, now I am on a thread specifically for them, can I think of any more than the above one ?

suckmabigtoe · 03/06/2013 21:38

betsy i think you're right! that sounds familiar.

LoadOBalls · 03/06/2013 21:39

Euphemia I was thinking about the being in backgrounds of photos today! just a little lookee at FB through friend's pictures revealed about 4 I wasn't tagged in, looking V twattish in the background .. I wonder if anyone around the world sees them and wonders who I am

Steffanoid · 03/06/2013 21:43

someone really early on asked about moths nor being about in the day if tgey like light so much
now, IIRC, they are about in the day, they spend the day flying towards the Sun because it's a lovely big light, then it goes down and we turn on lots of lovely lights and they try to fly to those, they're really not clever.

someone else asked where the seeds are on carrots, I think if you leave them they will flower and go to seed from there, the seeds aren't on the carrot itself
Smile

suckmabigtoe you meet people through people. could you take up a new hobby, ask a new friend for coffee, walk a new route, go shopping on a different day. FB/twitter are apparently the places to meet a partner nowadays

JoyMachine · 03/06/2013 21:58

methe- I get that... I assume it's glue ear tbh. Sad
My hearing is shit, and I always have sinusitis, or rhinitis.

LoadOBalls · 03/06/2013 21:58

I don't believe the universe is expanding - how do they even know this?
and what the actual is quantum theory and wormholes and the like

MrsVamosRAFA · 03/06/2013 21:58

kim147

Thanks for the explanation. I suppose I'm classed as a light sleeper then ? Smile

Just wish I did go to sleep in the evening, and not between 2 and 3 am which it usually is. Maybe new curtains, with extra blackout lining ? Or where could I get some new melatonin ? Grin

The teenagers thing is very interesting. I have one of them, and his sleep patterns have changed so much. I don't ever make any comment about him being lazy, because I am very aware that it is something that they can't actually 'control'.

Fancy wanting to induce jetlag. I've never had it, but I can't imagine it's much fun !

LoadOBalls · 03/06/2013 22:00

methe I can do the ear noise thing, is it your jaw joint cracking? heard in your ears? oh no, its air moving round my earholes..

bordellosboheme · 03/06/2013 22:04

How interesting do you find the average conversation with the average person?

LittleMissGerardButlerfan · 03/06/2013 22:04

Load yes how do they know how far the universe goes?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 03/06/2013 22:05

What is a black hole? Always heard of them but dont get it.

LoadOBalls · 03/06/2013 22:07

all of the memory questions - the filing cabinet/computer file theories are helpful simple ideas to start to think about memories, but we still have no idea how they actually work, the utter mind-boggling complexity, the strangeness of human memory.
have just read a thriller by Nicci French about recovered/false memories

FryOneFatManic · 03/06/2013 22:09

I think this is interesting.

LoadOBalls · 03/06/2013 22:11

bordello -- the older I get, the more introvert I think I am getting
When I listen in on colleagues at work 'chatting' to one another I sometimes wish you could wipe out all of the meaningless bullshit chatter and distil the verbal communication that was actually essential into about 3 words for the whole day.
the average conversation in the UK would definitely involve weather, it's also hard at parties to keep your face on the 'interested' expression and how do you elegantly escape from a dullard anyway?

FryOneFatManic · 03/06/2013 22:11

Kim, if I wake up as it's getting light now I can't get back to sleep properly. Your explanation might explain why I sleep better in winter. I need to add a blackout blind I think, I really do find it difficult to sleep if it's not dark.

FryOneFatManic · 03/06/2013 22:18

LunaticFringe I can see what you're saying regarding colour. I can be matching a sample of blue I created with a swatch I've been given but while both may look the same to me, the blue I see would not be the same blue you see, but you're still likely to see both pieces of fabric as being the same colour (assuming I'd dyed it correctly).
