Ilikethebreeze "Trouble is, it is.
[It would be so much easier sometimes if it wasnt]."

I'd take the easy route, love. It'll save a lot of argument too.

CaptainJamesTKirk · 03/06/2013 18:19

I have a question and I admit I'm probably an idiot for not knowing, but I've always been too embarrassed to ask...
When you see someone doing British Sign Language (the translators) say on CBeebies they move their mouth as if forming the words but they're not forming the actual words, they're not saying them like a lip reader would read them IYSWIM? What are they doing with their mouths and please excuse my ignorance.

Ilikethebreeze · 03/06/2013 18:20

I dont want to get into it either!
If you want to start a thread about it on the philosophy board, suck, I will happily contribute.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/06/2013 18:25

But it isn't proven fact? Ilikethebreeze. That is the only fact here. That is why being religious is often referred to as "keeping the faith". One must have faith to believe because it cannot be proven.

There isn't really anything about it to debate,on this board or the philosophy board.

MardyBra · 03/06/2013 18:25

There have been many on the philosophy/religion board Ilikethebreeze.

They all go like this:

"I believe in God, so it must be true."
"Well, show me some proof?"
"There is none - you just know."
"So there's no proof then."
"Yes there is because we believe it."
"That's not proof though."
"yes it is."
"No it's not"
"yes it is."
"No it's not"
and so on.

suckmabigtoe · 03/06/2013 18:26

i dont. i have a cough and it hurts when i laugh.

Ilikethebreeze · 03/06/2013 18:30

I agree Alis and MardyBra. Smile

MardyBra · 03/06/2013 18:33

Well maybe we should technically agree to disagree breeze. I'm on the side that seeks proof. Smile

Ilikethebreeze · 03/06/2013 18:45

I agree to disagree too. It wouldnt make people become Christians, even if there were proof.

CaptainJamesTKirk · 03/06/2013 18:49

Oh. The thread went all religious :( so I'm still going to be in the dark re: my question on sign language translators.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 03/06/2013 18:51

I want to know that too Captain.

Hope someone can answer!

CaptainJamesTKirk · 03/06/2013 19:23

Hopeful bump?

mooface · 03/06/2013 19:32

What's the difference between being tipsy and being drunk? And how does one know how to prevent overdrinking into the latter?

LoveBeingUpAt4InTheMorning · 03/06/2013 19:36

Yes planes have windscreen wipers.

My question, why do we believe facts we read on mn?

hugoagogo · 03/06/2013 19:37

Someone up thread said why is Auction pronounced 'ocktion' well it isn't (at least not by me) It is pronounced 'orction'

neverputasockinatoaster · 03/06/2013 19:42

When I sign BSL I 'say' the words silently as well. However the grammar is different.. so My name is.. would be signed Name mine is. I think that affects how we see the lip patterns.

Plus facial expression is important so the lip patterns may be distorted by facial expression?

Please let someone more knowledgeable about BSL come along and put right the muddle I've created!!!

suckmabigtoe · 03/06/2013 19:42

which facts lovebeing?

CaptainJamesTKirk · 03/06/2013 19:47

never... I'm going to have to concentrate next time I watch cbeebies, so it could be a grammar thing - that's interesting. The translators are often very expressive as well which may make it hard for a non signer to make out a word? Thank you for answering!

LittleMissGerardButlerfan · 03/06/2013 19:48

mooface I can tell the difference personally as when I'm tipsy I can still control what I am saying, when I'm drunk I say what's in my head without the filter to stop it :o

It's a fine line to cross and not easy to control!

I find it easier to tell if I'm drinking spirits than if I'm drinking wine :o

we went on a cogwheel railway last week that had it's windscreen wiper on the inside. and it was operated manually by the driver too.

Methe · 03/06/2013 20:06

My question is - can anyone else make a crunching/static noise by tensing a muscle in their ears?

HenriettaPye · 03/06/2013 20:22

No methe- I can't BlushBlush

My question is- why do the put round pizzas in square boxes?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 03/06/2013 20:34

Round boxes are probably too expensive to make.

LoveBeingUpAt4InTheMorning · 03/06/2013 20:41
