I used to think that I was a good writer. But, since joining MN, I have to face the sad realisation that this is untrue. If I comment on a thread, it dies, and if I start a thread, no one answers! I give up. I know I am a good reader, I will stick to that from now on....

No Maccy D's!!!!!

D(ick) H(ead) rang me as I was putting the last shopping bag in the car and I eyeing up the Golden Arches in the distance, he'd used all the last bit of milk for cereal for the 2 older kids so had none for the babies for their bed time bops so I had to go straight home Sad

amazingmumof6 · 30/05/2013 23:41

oh what a shame.
did your kids have cereal for dinner?
mine do sometimes. I don't even feel guilty about it anymore!

Blueandwhitelover · 31/05/2013 09:10

Hair will be changed again tomorrow-just given it a wash in an attempt to tone down the orange stripe. However, it currently resembles a tiger stripe and will cause much hilarity at school if left alone.A nice plummy tone will be better. (Only dyed it red as hubby had a longing for red heads-I was one when we met but I've aged since then lol)

Two coffee dates to look forward to today. One with a former colleague who I miss loads and one with my BFF, who I've been given a headsup by my other BFF, has major gossip to share :-)

Might even have a bacon butty first before himself gets up.

Nagoo · 31/05/2013 10:02

still going then topices? Grin

Nagoo · 31/05/2013 10:07

oh you are Inthreadibles! Grin love it Grin

amazingmumof6 · 31/05/2013 10:38

oh yes, but you need to read through to learn about Ze French'ell!Grin

Nagoo · 31/05/2013 12:08

Zing I lack stamina.

I'm supposedly watching home alone with DS but I am bored to death and my house was a shit heap Sad

I think I need to do a whip about and tidy. I can't relax in a mess [bore] ignores fact I have been relaxing for 3 hours already this morning

Blueandwhitelover · 31/05/2013 12:35

Popped back from one coffee to have lunch before going out for another.

(not that any of you have noticed....Wink

Blueandwhitelover · 31/05/2013 12:36

Oh I just used my first Smile

Roomfor1more · 31/05/2013 13:33

Zing my kids have bottomless pits for stomachs! They'd have dinner and were then getting cereal off dh. Daddy is a soft touch and they get more treats from him than me. I'm the mean mummy who says no and tells them to brush their teeth while dh is 'Daddy Cool' and does all the fun stuff. I can be fun too.............. after an espresso or two Wink

Raining here now Sad sun shining when I got up. Have no interest in doing anything when its raining out. Nagoo have a cuppa and maybe pretend to do something important ie hide out in your bed room for a bit!

Roomfor1more · 31/05/2013 16:24

Oh dear!!! Shock I think I've really done it now..............

Tumble weed central it is so.....

amazingmumof6 · 31/05/2013 18:41

I actually still don't understand what tumbleweed refers to.
help! [dumb emoticon]

Blueandwhitelover · 31/05/2013 18:58

Just had some rather nice golden syrup cake...

Roomfor1more · 31/05/2013 19:30

Zing would crickets making that sound they do be better??!! lol How come you never see a tumbleweed growing and not tumbling??? Just a thought?! Hmm

Blue sounds lovely. I bought and stashed a packet of Mint Kit Kats in the airing cupboard, pray they're not sniffed out Wink

Blueandwhitelover · 31/05/2013 19:46

Mint kitkats in the airing cupboard, nooo. Quick go and get them out and eat them before they melt x

DuchessOfAvon · 31/05/2013 20:25

Tumbleweed is that little ball of stuff that blows around in the Great American Outback:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tumbleweed

DuchessOfAvon · 31/05/2013 20:26

Here's the pertinent quote:

" It has come to represent locations that are desolate, dry, and often humorless, with few or no occupants."

Thumbtack · 31/05/2013 20:38

duchess that's hilarious and very apt! But not for this thread - this thread would be a type of grass, something that persists even in the harshest most barren of environment. A cactus, if you like. Grin

blue what was your friends hot gossip? Do tell!

I'll be back later

Thumbtack · 31/05/2013 20:39

Not that cactus is a grass! It should have read. or a cactus . .

VixZenFenchell · 31/05/2013 20:45

Boo!

Work has been manic for the last few days, have only had energy to get home, eat, go to bed, get up, go to work ... Rinse and repeat.

However it's a 3 day weekend! We have a BH Monday here to celebrate Queen's Birthday :) so lying in at half past seven (unheard of!) with MN (me), EndOfTheWorldForums (DH) and Minecraft (both boys, 7&5).

I thought backpack was hilarious, zing :)

-stretch- pondering pancakes for breakfast.

Roomfor1more · 31/05/2013 20:47

Maram grass??? Remember we doing it in Geography! Helps stop erosion of our coastal areas, plus it would eat the ass off you if you fell on it! Ooh I've gone all Julia Bradbury/Countryfile there Grin

VixZenFenchell · 31/05/2013 20:47

Have to disagree - while the thread may be dry on occasion, it's not humourless and definitely not lacking in occupants!

I notice nobody missed me incidentally. No "where's Vix?" posts.

I won't take it personally ...

Roomfor1more · 31/05/2013 20:50

We've a day off too on Monday, yay!

Blue I've helped with the evacuation of the aforementioned Kit Kats. Now where can I put the wrappers without been found out??

I missed you Vix Wink

Thumbtack · 31/05/2013 20:54

Hello vix ! It's coz we knew you'd be back!

roomie Marram grass, exactly

zing will be along later to illustrate it!

< hopeful >

ZenOfPetals · 31/05/2013 20:54

Do you know where you see tumbleweed? Those old cowboy Westerns. Some dusty men, hanging out in a saloon, with a half-door, swinging in the wind. Then a tumbleweed wafts in, under the door. It is like a dust bunny, but made of plant elements, rather than flaked skin fragments. Then the baddie comes in, and orders whiskey
