let's celebrate one child families

an Albatros has one egg. It takes both parents 2 years to raise the fledgling. An elephant has one calf after a gestation period of 12 month. It takes the parents 4 years to raise it.
In the past there were many reasons why people had more than one child. Today the world is overpopulated. There are many reasons why one child families are successful.

You can do it better if you don't constantly have to keep an eye on Nr. 2, 3, 4 as well. Single children are more rounded - they don't have to compete for attention & they like their own company, which is important if you want to grow up to be independent.

Total bollocks.

I really have 2 statements, but at the mo I like to concentrate on one: world population. I believe that lots of people are upset about the state our world is in. Often people blame the governments for terrible things which we see on our tvs daily. However, if we all helped to reduce world population, then its really up to each individual to change things. Less people means more breathing space for all. And people don't like it when they realise that each individual can help change things IN THE LONG RUN.
One problem is that many people have already more than one & they certainly love their offspring & wouldn't like to change that. But if they could think calmly about it they may find that they could influence their offspring and persuade them to have a single child themselves. I know parents often think that they have no influence over their kids - I don't agree.

Yeah. Look at how well China’s One Child went.

obviously not everyone reads the whole thread. Let me repeat: China reduced the population, increased wealth all without a war. The population was not happy because they believed that the SONS must look after the aging parents. We put our parents into homes...
Even today sons there are more important than daughters.
