1. I put on around a stone and half I'd guess. I didn't weigh myself to be honest.

1. 28 weeks 2 days

1. Yes. Emergency as breech presentation

1. Yes. I'd had drugs to try and slow labour.

I was induced but only because my blood pressure suddenly went up for some reason.

It'd been fine up till then, but they said we needed to get on and get the twins born because there'd be no problems being too early at 37 weeks (and there weren't).

Do you know the sexes? I had a boy and girl but they are 7 now.

I went from 8 stone 10lbs to just under 11 stone so I put on just under 2 1/2 stone. I was "all bump" as they say, although my face was lovely and rounded.

1. How many weeks were you when you gave birth?

35 + 5

1. Did you have a c section?

Yes. I had to as I had a low-lying placenta (placenta praevia) that was unstable. Had lots of bleeds. Section scheduled for 36 weeks due to risky bleeding but had whopper bleed at 35 weeks so they gave me an emergency section.

1. What weights were the twins?

4lbs 12oz and 5lbs 1oz

1. Were you monitored throughout labour?

I was monitored ALL the time. Spent my whole time in hospital strapped to a monitor. I think they like to monitor a twin pregnancy, although they can't force you to do anything.

1, have no idea, but by 3 mths of breastfeeding I was lighter than I was before I was pregnant!

3, I had and emergency c-section after having an adverse reaction to the epidural drugs, was being sick and shaking, not pleasant, was also progressing VERY slowly which is a by product of induction and epidurals!
4, weights were 6lb10 and 5lb12
5, I was monitored throughout labour, i've personally never heard of anyone who isn't with twins.

1.Only 1.5stones.Looked anorexic with a huge bump! Was half stone lighter after the birth than before but with huge belly!
2.Induced at 37 weeks.
3.No. Forceps for the 1st, ventouse for the 2nd twin.
4.5lb 12oz & 5lb 2oz.

Thanks all, had both the my the girls at home and I'm very scared about a hospital birth, one reason is because I hate being still in labour and really worried about being confined to the bed.

No, being awkward and not too keen on having loads of ultra sound I refused, but had a lovely very experienced midwife who was happy to do intermitent monitoring provided that each time she checked in on the babies she was hearing a good range of heart beats and that they were responding to stimuli.

6.Labour nearly started on its own, hind waters broke, but eventually I had to have fore waters broken as there was worry of possible infection with leaving it too long.

LargeGlassofRed make sure you have good discussion with your consultant about what you do and don't want - write it all down take it with you to delivery suite and then you can go through it all with your midwife as well. I found with persistence they were all very accomodating of my wishes.

5. monitored intermittently then continuously towards end. didn't like this as couldn't move so if you can avoid this, try to.

def have some kind of plan of what you'd LIKE but otherwise i think you're better off if you can envisage that you might not have control over everything. twin births are treated with a lot more caution than singletons as you've prob already found out. at end stage labour you prob won't care less what they want to do to get them out - i know i didn't

1. 2 1/2st all bump, I had twiglets for arms and legs (DS sitting on stomach)

largeglassofred, some mums have had home births with dts. I found some lovely, and inspirational stories about it online, though it wasn't for me. I did want a home birth but not once I foudn out there was two.

I was barely mobile at all by the end of mine, so being tied to a bed wouldn't have been an issue!

I'd do as must research as you can, then form an idea of what you would like, and be prepared to fight for it within reason and while stil being open to changes which are necessary because of complications with twin births.

1. yes - I think so - had an epidural that went a bit wrong and couldn't feel anything from the shoulders down !

my consultant wanted me to have an epidural sited - but up to me to use it if needed - so not necessarily immobile. The concern is generally over the second twin - once the first is out there is room to move around and get into a bad position - or sometimes the body stops labour because it is given birth.

The epidural is so that they can do an emergency cs if needed (at least that is how my consultant explained it).

5. yes, can't move round much at all! thank god for epidurals. Kept checking I could feel my legs - all fine.

Nope - both vaginally, DT1 needed forceps and on just G&A it was agony. Wish I'd had an epidural instead of trying to be brave (aka stupid). Tore quite badly as well. DT2 popped out without any help a few mins later.

Yes, scans every 3 weeks (as DTs are ID) - quite normal I think.

Oh and labour started normally, no induction.

Didn't dare weigh myself but one good thing was that the only big bit was my bump - the rest of me looked skinny in comparison and I dind't look preg from behind but there were gasps of horror when I turned round. Seriously.

34 due to pre-eclampsia and cholestasis
