There seem to be a few mums with twins on Mumsnet now, and a few new mums like me, and some expecting quite soon.

So I thought it would be great to have our own thread, as things are different when you are looking after 2 babies.

I also have a ds of 5, and a dd of 2.4, so we have busy house now. I had B/G twins 6 weeks ago and we are doing well.

twinz, you'll have a couple more. Just let your twins grow a little. The danger time is about 18 months when they start to do amazing things... words, songs, acting all cute, kisses and cuddles etc. Children are amazing. I can quite understand why some people have lots. DH has had the snip though so 5 is our limit (fingers crossed that it has worked completely)

Toomany, and for the blessings that we have.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 22/02/2005 21:47

Oh, I almost forgot, twinz. I met a mum with a Jane Powertwin. It's rather nice. It's a long three wheeler, but she thinks that it is brilliant. I suppose it depends what you want it for. I laughed out loud when I met her because I only read your post yesterday.

twinzrule · 22/02/2005 21:55

Yeah the boyz are 10 months now, and the past month they have really come along personality wise! DS1, when he smiles at you he blinks his eyes open and shut a few times! It's the cutest! I just love how quickly the changes are coming now! So lucky to have each other! I'm heading out shopping with the DH and babes! Ha ha I'm typing in code! talk to you guys later

twinzrule · 22/02/2005 21:58

opps, not so good on the codes! DT1 not DS1! Oh, I'll figure it out one day!

toomanypushchairs · 22/02/2005 22:21

My dh also had the snip, the dt's were 5weeks old. we were taking no chances. Bit worried by the get out clause in his confirmation letter though...... said something about spontaneous reconnection!

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 22/02/2005 22:23

I know, therefore little rubber jackets are still in our cupboard. Can you imagine? 5 kids and then twins again???????? AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 'Tis the stuff of nightmares. lol

harrogatemum · 23/02/2005 09:21

what do you think is a good age gap between kids from experience? The DTs are my first but I want more already...infact think my first words after giving birth were "I'd do that again"...crazy I know. So would be interested to hear what peoples opinions are of how long to wait!

Kelly1978 · 23/02/2005 09:40

I felt like that after dd, but def not after ds, and I don't think I would with twins neither! There is two years to the day between them, and that worked out really well, but I must admit we did start trying again almost straight away after dd.
It really depends on your circumstances. With two already, there are pratcial implications - how would you get around?
Also, it depends on ur kids - dd loved the idea of a brother, but I can't say the same about ds. He will be 2y 9mnths when the twins arrive, and he is not impressed at all. I'm hoping he will like the idea more when they are here.
I'm going to have 4 kids under age 5, and i think it's going to be lovely them all growing up together. But then I am lucky in that my older two are easy kids, I look at some of my friend's kids and I know there is no way I could handle four of theirs.
And I am def stopping now! I had't planned the twins this soon, and four is def my limit. Unfortunately dp won't entertain the idea of the snip, so it'll prob be me under the knife.

toomanypushchairs · 23/02/2005 10:58

think all age gaps have pros and cons. My eldest 2 are 2yrs 2mnths apart. DD being the eldest. she hated it when her brother crawled, and then when he walked. they started to play really well together when ds went to school. there is then a 5yr gap before the dt's. its hard in the holidays because the big 2 want to do completely different things to the little 2.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 23/02/2005 12:40

kelly wait until the babes are born. The sheer relentlessness of twins may find him changing his tune. That or the withdrawal of all ahem.. favours lol

Kelly1978 · 23/02/2005 17:01

Now there's an idea!!

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 23/02/2005 21:18

worked for me

wheresmyfroggy · 23/02/2005 21:24

Still waiting for our delivery mtmml

toomanypushchairs · 23/02/2005 21:34

To sleep or not to sleep? Don't think my boys really need to sleep in the daytime anymore but can't face the thought of not having a break... how awful is that? We only let them sleep for 45mins which goes really fast. They have been full of a cold so I let them sleep for 2hrs today....they've only just gone to sleep!

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 23/02/2005 21:37

It's hard when they get to that stage isn't it? My lovely preschool playgroup now takes children from 18months. I'm looking forward to sending the DTs for a couple of mornings a week. Wicked aren't I?

twinzrule · 23/02/2005 21:44

hi ya, (7hours behind), my boyz are fighting their afternoon nap! I'm so jelous of mums who have babies who sleep, mine have always faught their naps. I've worked my butt off to get them on a great schedule; which has been working for 2 months+, but they sure are being stinkers this week and really stuggling to stay awake! Ah! tmpc, I don't blame you for wanting them to still nap, we all need a tiny break every afternoon to refuel!

toomanypushchairs · 23/02/2005 21:45

sounds lovely, mine can't go till september, they'll be 2yrs 9mnths

toomanypushchairs · 24/02/2005 22:39

any of you twins mummies there?

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 25/02/2005 00:02

sorry toomany, DT2 was screaming his head off for the best part of this evening. Who knows why, and at this moment frankly who cares! He's asleep now, bless him as is DT1 and I'm afraid to go to bed because as soon as I do, it'll all start again. Completely knackered. Ah well... as my sister says... I chose my path.

toomanypushchairs · 25/02/2005 11:18

Good morning ladies, have had a lovely morning playing in the snow with the dt's. I don't really like being outside in the snow but they loved it.They've never seen snow before.Shame but I don't think it will last till the big 2 come home from school.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 25/02/2005 11:27

My idea of hell that, playing out in the snow with the kids. I'm a hot girl. Give me sun, sand, sangria ... hold on, that's how I got the DTs in the first place!

toomanypushchairs · 25/02/2005 11:48

would rather have the sun too, but not with 4 children!

Jenzopos · 20/08/2010 11:16

Im 26 weeks with fraternal girl twins. I feel huge already and cant wait to meet them...but also daunted by the idea of 2 babies when I'm going to be a new mum! I'm really keen to breastfeed and plan to put them in the same cot at first but I don't think it has entirely hit me yet I'm going to be a mum.. never mind a mum to 2!

Lavitabellissima · 20/08/2010 11:23

Just reading this thread and saw it was quite old Jenopos, I am 23 weeks pregnant with identical girls and we have a thread in antenatal group called "anyone else expecting twins" come and visit. I'll bump it so you can see it on the active list Smile

Waves to other twin mums on this thread, hi Grin
