There seem to be a few mums with twins on Mumsnet now, and a few new mums like me, and some expecting quite soon.

So I thought it would be great to have our own thread, as things are different when you are looking after 2 babies.

I also have a ds of 5, and a dd of 2.4, so we have busy house now. I had B/G twins 6 weeks ago and we are doing well.

tell her it is unexpected for everyone ! And also a real privilege - if a bit exhausting at times (well a lot at times ).

Tell her ot have a look at www.twinsclub.co.uk especially the forums.

MarsLady · 20/02/2005 00:26

I agree with Throckenholt. See if you can persuade her to join us here. I laughed my head off when I saw the scan screen. The DTs were supposed to be our fourth baby, not fourth and fifth. It's a wonderful thing to be the mother of twins.

smellymelly · 20/02/2005 06:29

I definitely see havung twins as an honour!

They are 9 weeks now and they 'sit' in their bouncy chairs and both grin at us at the same time - It doesn't get any better than that!

Aku

MarsLady · 20/02/2005 13:54

Welcome aku. How exciting to be at the beginning with twins. Of course you can join. Don't worry if once you've given birth you can't post for a while, we'll still be here. Mine are 1 now and it's wonderful. Looking forward to chatting with you.

Kelly1978 · 21/02/2005 08:51

hello Aku, I'm also expecting in March, although my due date was officially April 8th.

I guessed I was having twins as I didnt have a scan until 20 wks, but there is nothing like seeing two little heads on the ultrasound scan. I just can't wait to meet mine now!

I've been on a high for abt a week now, most of my aches have dissapeared and I've gotten a lot of my energy back - touch wood things stay that way!!

toomanypushchairs · 21/02/2005 21:31

where are you all? Back to school this morning aargh! dt's been playing in their room in the morning during half term, not had to get up till after 8am. Had to leave the house at 8.30 today, i'm not great in the morning! hoping not to have to get up tomorrow. If it carries on snowing maybe the school will be shut.

twinzrule · 21/02/2005 22:08

Hi ya
This is my first time on a posting board! Hope you don't mind a new member! I have identical boys, 10 months. I'm looking for a better pushchair? Any ideas?I'm looking for a good tandem, not hard to push; I'm sick of not fitting through doors! Anyone have the Jane Powertwin? I've only seen them on the internet and am looking for some feed back on it.

toomanypushchairs · 21/02/2005 22:58

welcome twinzrule! (they certainly rule in my house!) kelly1978 has bought the powertwin but her babies aren't here yet. Marslady has just bought the marco sky! very jealous, they are supposed to be great, they cost about £100. Its like a single umbrella folding pushchair with an extra seat slightly higher up at the back. Hope you find what u are looking for. By the way I have non identical boys 2yrs 2months. Also have 2 older children. Girl 10 boy 7. Do you have anymore?

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 21/02/2005 23:17

hi toomany, hi twinzrule. Welcome to the TWINS thread. I do indeed have a marco sky buggy. It's lovely. Great for nipping in and out of places, buses, shopping trips. Lovely. I also have an Implast pram. I love it. It looks like a huge heavy thing but it is the best to push. However, you want something that goes into shops. The Jane Powertwin is a nice buggy, but it's very expensive and it may not be worth the expense now, whereas had you (or I) bought it at the beginning we would have gotten more use out of it. Looks lovely with the twin car seats (went to look at one in the local buggy shop). I suppose it would depend on what you want your buggy for. Have you looked here? Great site for twins and you should find lots of reviews of different types of buggies. hth

I have 5 children. DS1 (12), DD1 (10), DD2 (6) and the DTs (1)

toomanypushchairs · 21/02/2005 23:30

why u mtmml again? are you just trying to confuse me or have you really been eating too much chocolate? How on earth do you manage 5? I struggle with 4!

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 21/02/2005 23:39

I cave easily under pressure. Sofiaames thinks that my name is too long, so I changed, but then wheresmyfroggy said he really liked it so I changed back. ML is my original name, MTMML happened when I decided to join mumsnetmamas and lose weight. Over Christmas I was MarsSelectionBoxLady. Yes, I eat far too much chocolate. If you can manage 4 you can manage 5. You see I was aiming for 4, but as you know I had the DTs.

harrogatemum · 22/02/2005 15:51

whats happened to Bubble?

LIZS · 22/02/2005 15:55

harrogate mum - see here

harrogatemum · 22/02/2005 18:01

thank you for redirecting me Lizs - much appreciated.

twinzrule · 22/02/2005 21:24

Hi ya, as I'm in Canada, I'm missing when you guys are able to talk, I'm 7 hours behind you lot. MTMML, thanks for the web site page, I'll go and look on it now. Are your twins comfy in the marco, I've only seen it on the net and it looks so squishy. Can both twins sleep in it? Also, the weight capasity didn't seem to be to much? Any problems? And codoo's to you 5! Wow! When do you find time for you??? Oh, I have no idea what the codes mean DS1 ect.

toomanypushchairs · 22/02/2005 21:30

Hi twinzrule, don't know where mtmml is.Not seen her online today. Only been on myself for a few weeks, didn't understand codes either. these are the ones I can remember....
dh=dear husband
dp= " partner
ds= " son
dd= " daughter
dt= " twins

etc etc....

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 22/02/2005 21:34

The D= Dear or Darling
S= Son
D= Daughter
T= Twin
H= Husband
P= Partner

etc...

I go salsa dancing, I go out to lunch to dinner etc. My DH is pretty good with the kids and I make sure to spend weekends away.

The Marco Sky is lovely. It's not as squished as it looks. The DTs are having a fab time in it. They should be in it until they are 2. No space in the shopping basket. I wouldn't call it a shopping basket, more a nappy basket. It's easy to push and it is quite light (esp when there are no babies in it). I love it. Everytime I take it out I like it more. The raincover covers it completely allowing the feet of the babe in the back to stay dry and warm. Both babes have slept in it, but it's not ideal for that. Definitely a run around buggy. But I have my pram for sleeping in etc. I don't regret buying it at all. Fab buggy.

I'm a nightowl, can't go to bed early even though I ought, so I may catch you more often than you think.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 22/02/2005 21:36

I'm here toomany. Bubbles news has really knocked me. I can't stop crying. My heart is really aching for her and her DH. I keep looking at my DTs and thinking that but for the grace of God....

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 22/02/2005 21:37

Sorry twinz. The number, as in DS1 means the order of the child therefore Darling Son 1.

twinzrule · 22/02/2005 21:38

Wow, I can't imagine having more kids then the twins! Mabe it is because I had them first not last. For the first few months I said I wanted another one, hopefully a girl; but, now that they are still teething, and only one tooth between the pair, I'm thinking no chance! I'm sure I'll forget in a few years!

toomanypushchairs · 22/02/2005 21:40

mtmml, know what you mean. my boys have been awful today, just so glad they are here. didn't really know what to say on the thread.
