Save me a crisp or two please Trips!! xxx

Wracking my brains to try and think of a way to get some money together for holidays. My mum gave me a brilliant sewing machine a while ago. Im going to get it out this week and have a few practice runs with it. Maybe I can think of something to make and put on Ebay. It takes me a couple of days to knit a cardi and nobody is willing to pay the proper price for anything on Ebay. I am determined, somehow, to go back - even if it is just for a week in October!!!! If anybody has any good ideas please let me know Grin

Kale Nits Shabs, sorry I missed you xx
sewing? Can you make pretty bunting? Everyone wants it for shabby chic rooms, very expensive in the shops, look on ebay for ideas! I will be your first customer:)

Morning girls xx

Bunting? You have made me curious now!! Will have a look and let you know. Grin

triplets · 24/01/2011 10:31

Morning Shabs..........truly, its much in demand, esp now when everyone starts thinking of Spring and Summer, doing up there sheds etc. It costs a fortune and tuppence to make. You don`t need new material, scout round charity shops for pretty fabrics, old duvets, curtains, clothes. Shabby chic and nautical are the most popular. I saw some I wanted in Canterbury last week, it was 8ft long, had 10 pendants, and it was £12!! Think about it, my order would be a shabby chic one in floral, dots, stripes and a nautical one for my friend!!

LOL I just checked Ebay and I see what you mean now!!! Going to have a go with the sewing machine tonight and then search around for fabric. Daft question I know but roughly how big are the triangles and shapes that hang from the bunting?

shabbapinkfrog · 24/01/2011 11:14

LOL dont worry about measuring them Trips - just googled it and got a full pattern for making the bunting. The minute Lew goes home tonight Im trying out the sewing machine and then going round the house looking for fabric LOL. I have got several pairs of curtains that I dont use anymore, and sheets....ooohhh see what you've started!!

triplets · 24/01/2011 12:34

Honestly Shabs must be dead easy to make, just get some tape from the market scraps of pretty material, mix them up, stripes, dots, flowers etc, be a doddle coz u r dead clever, unlike me who can`t sew a button on!

The machine my Mum gave me is fantastic. However, I have never used an electric sewing machine....haven't used a sewing machine for 40 years!!!! Have got the hang of the machine though. Going to get my mum to go through all her cupboards for clothes she doesn't wear anymore Grin Have found loads of information about bunting by googling it.

Think I am going to do some Valentines bunting and Easter bunting!!!

Got the bug now!!!!

Thanks for the great idea Trips. xxx

Thinking also of making some PE bags for Primary school children. Also looking for a pattern for those Summer gingham dresses the girls wear at Primary. Will google them as well and print them out.

triplets · 24/01/2011 23:04
