Mixed raced couple looking to move out of London

Hi, I have two mixed race children and looking to move out of London but want to move to a multicultural area still. Any areas best known? Please let me know thanks

We're in the east midlands. Most places around here seem pretty diverse to me. We're also a mixed race family.

Thank's I just don't want to move to be the only mixed race couple in the village.

I'm in Manchester, most areas here are pretty mixed. Though my school choice was influenced as my catchment school is completely white, which I didn't want for my boys.

I wouldn't want my children going to all white school and lose their identity of being half Caribbean and half white British. Plus the racism because they are different, plus how would the teachers treat them would it effect their education?

If you let us know which towns or villages you're considering, maybe someone here will know how multicultural they are.

Southampton mabe? Just want a good mix of people from wide variety.

I would say most cities are multicultural. And imo no teacher would treat any child differently because of their race/culture.

I understand your concerns. We are a mixed-race family and moved out of London 4 years ago. It was vital that we moved somewhere where means my children would not be the only dark faces in town. I'll PM you with my location as I don't want to out myself.

Thanks pigwitch just haven't been out of London before and would like to benefit from country but near a smaller city like for the sake of my daughters health.

Leicester is very diverse. People seem to look down their noses a bit at Leicester but we love it.

Bristol is a lovely city and multi cultural. I'm not sure about the schools though, some have had a bad rep in the past...

I'm in a mixed race couple in Bristol (DP is black, I'm white) and we haven't had any problems. Would recommend Bristol.

I think all places in England are multi-cultural. We live in a very leafy part of Worcestershire and our DD goes to a village school. There are quite a few dual heritage children and the area is very MC so there are none of your solo braincelled racists.

Hang on a minute.. if somebody came on here and said they wanted their kids to go to an all white school rather than mixing with black kids and mixed race they would be shredded on here. Fucking hell!

Well the only reason I have asked this question is because a friend of mine, went live in Norfolk for sometime with her mixed race child half black and half white, where none or the children in his school was allowed to talk to him the teachers ignored him and he experienced a dreadful time. This has made me bring this topic up. I'm considering all areas.

I live in a small, semi-rural town south of Southampton. DS is half white, half black Carribean and 19 months old.

He has a couple of mixed race buddies already alongside several of various non-British origins. We walk past the local Primary school to get to various activities and while it's predominantly white faces there's a significant minority of other shades of Person. So far I as the white parent have encountered no racism, and DP hasn't mentioned anything - in fact, we're regularly stopped on the street and his hair/smile/eyes are complimented by random older people! (he's often on my back in the sling too, which probably marks us out as Different more than anything else)

Outside London isn't some scary, racist hot-bed of Britain First supporting Daily Mail reading bigots PM me if you like

Sorry to Buzzard, I live in rural Norfolk & multi-cultural it ain't.
I don't perceive as bad an experience as Sammy describes, but I can understand why she's wary. 4 kids at DC primary of 300 children who are not English white. Secondaries no more diverse. DD can think of only 1 nonwhite kid in her cohort of 200.

Nothing wrong with the question.. wording it in a racist way is off and it was racist.

The area I live in is predominantly white but the few families that have joined my sons primary have been well welcomed.. they are lovely happy thriving kids. Don't assume that everywhere outside London is racist because it isn't.

Avoid Norfolk then I reckon?
