Afternoon. Does anyone know of anywhere I can get food today for me and my daughters. Struggling to make ends meet completely now as a single mum to 4 and no food banks are open today. Thankyou

Maybe RTFT @MaybeNotNo?

I read the op posts - I couldnt see a location, did I miss it?

BIWI · 12/01/2026 12:33

The OP was sorted yesterday.

But from her second post:

Hi I'm in the northeast, sunderland area

Edelspeiss · 12/01/2026 20:28

Glad you got sorted

Food banks are open most days of the week. If the kids have eaten today, the check things out tomorrow. Hopefully they will also help you to get all the benefits you are entitled to.

Hello OP if you are still on here. In case you need it in future. The Trussell Trust is the country’s largest food bank organisation https://www.trussell.org.uk/emergency-food/get-a-food-voucher
For example I entered Hartlepool in their search engine and it came up with 77 places.
Not sure how realistic or local to you this is but Sikh temples ( Gurdwaras) have a tradition of offering free food to anyone who visits. If you do, women usually wear a headscarf.

I'm glad you got things sorted.

It might be a good idea to check on a website like entitledto to see you are getting all your benefit entitlements (25% council tax discount for single adult household comes to mind).
Also have a look at water bill tariffs and see if your water company offers water saving gadgets if you're on a meter.
Then shop around to get the best deals on utilities, insurance, phones etc.

Sell stuff your youngest has grown out of.
