£50 on £20,100. Better than the £0 I won last month!

Nochocolateuntilchristmas · 04/12/2023 09:54

Nothing for me this month, disappointing just before Christmas! But happy overall for the year, won £550 altogether. £10k holdings.

That’s really good compared to me! I’ve won £625 since May, had £4 as a christening present when they first started in 1956 then bought £20k in January this year using the first part of an inheritance from my mum. I then topped it up to £50k with some more of her money in May so I was hoping to start winning a bit more! But the £325 this month is not too shabby after taking into account that it is tax free.

fussychica · 04/12/2023 14:24

Nothing again for us this month. We significantly reduced our holding a couple of months ago as we weren't getting the return we could get from other sources. Shame, I like the excitement but not at the expense of a better return.

ThisWomansWorkNeverEnds · 05/12/2023 10:47

Thanks for the savings advice. I actually don't have an ISA so should look into that.
Thanks for the new thread!

ThisWomansWorkNeverEnds · 05/12/2023 10:49

I also got the message about tidying up. Think they are trying to stop people cashing in bonds!

RudsyFarmer · 05/12/2023 10:56

I’ve won £825 in the last 6 months on 30k holdings. I’d need to check online to see the 6 months before that when I had £25k in there. For me though I’m getting a good return with an easy access account.

wite · 05/12/2023 14:01

DS is at work and said he's just had an email saying they've emailed him! He can't check until he gets in but has he likely won something?

Bimblesalong · 05/12/2023 14:44

People who have winnings paid into a nominated account, how long does this take?

CaveMum · 05/12/2023 14:58

@Bimblesalong it's about a week after the draw.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 05/12/2023 15:07

Usually about 3 days after the app reveal.

Bimblesalong · 05/12/2023 15:51

Thankyou, both.

CandyLeBonBon · 05/12/2023 21:11

I got an email today saying I'd won! I thought I was out of luck this month! Only £50 but that's £200 in 6 months

Do you not look on the app on the day after the big winners list

I was emailed today as well about the £50 I won last week which I found pretty annoying as I don’t like getting unnecessary emails. I’ll
check my preferences next time I’m on their website to state no emails.

APurpleSquirrel · 06/12/2023 09:44

Placemarking
DD has increased her holding, so she's hopeful of getting a few more wins.

CandyLeBonBon · 06/12/2023 09:45

@Blondeshavemorefun yes I did and it said I hadn't won!

blitzen · 06/12/2023 10:10

£150 this month for me. Hopefully seeing Agent Million in 2024!

Kaltenzahn · 06/12/2023 11:36

Place marking the new thread! I've had a look at some of the predicted winnings calculators posted in the last thread and realised I'm way way way below average 😥

My head is telling me to stick everything in my savings account for a guaranteed 5.2% but I can't let go of the excitement every month! Maybe I'm saving up all my luck for a big win in 2024?

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/12/2023 13:34

How weird

Just asking here on the off-chance.

Has anyone filled in the form online to cash in specfic premium bonds? The NS&I automatically cash in the oldest bonds first, but these (few!) are of sentimental value. I therefore want to cash in my most recent bonds, and have applied online.

The woman I spoke to at NS&I said it takes up to 8 working days to get the money by this method. I just wondered whether anyone else had done this, and whether it did take the whole 8 working days (or longer!), or whether the money would come earlier. Thank you!

GeneCity · 06/12/2023 17:12

I haven't, but i nearly did. The form-based process put me off though.

I think I thought of a way around it, although I'm not sure it will work. If you transferred some bonds directly to a child or partner, would it transfer the oldest bonds? Then if you cash whatever bonds you want to cash in. Then you transfer the bonds back from your child or partner. Would this work 😄?

GeneCity · 06/12/2023 17:13

I think NS&I really need to sort this out to make it easier though. And they should also simplify the release of the results, and they should include a calculator that automatically calculates your winning rate over time.

WhatHaveIFound · 06/12/2023 17:18

£175 for me and £150 for DH. Both on £40k holdings each.

Happiestathome · 06/12/2023 18:34

@GeneCity I’ve used the form multiple times in order to keep my children’s original bonds. Not had any issues with it as of yet
