@LouiseD2018 best make a plan for if dd or ds wins - how will you/will you split it?

I had a chat with my dd 14, explained how it works, asked her what she would be happy with, she said nominal amounts ie £25 to be transfered directly to her spending account, slightly more eg 100 I'd give her some, save some in an accessible account for whatever she's saving for eg phone, trainers and reinvest in her account.

Larger amounts she said she'd share with her brother if he also shares and major wins She would share with us.

A lot can change day to day at her age so in the very unlikely event of a dream win I'd plan to talk to her about it at the time and document what's agreed.

Optionschange · 02/04/2023 00:03

Thanks for the thread. I've just started a direct debit. We are low earners but if I can squirrel away a bit each month before it sits in my account it will all help.

Chittering · 02/04/2023 07:19

Hope it was an April Fool because my circle is definitely still blue! Good luck everyone

RubbishDay · 02/04/2023 08:19

I know some reports say last working day for agent million but I have seen others say last day of month including weekends and bank holiday so I am going with agent million day today.

Disco2023 · 02/04/2023 08:33

It’s not the last day of the month though….

saddilema · 02/04/2023 09:00

How does it work with agent millions? Surely most people will be out and about so do they check beforehand that you'll be home? Or do they just hang around waiting for you to come home? What it you're on holiday?

I know I'm giving this way to much thought Grin

LittleBlueBrioTrain · 02/04/2023 09:08

I'm quite new to premium bonds but have set up a standing order for a small amount in my sons name each month and a separate one in my name each month.

Can I ask how easy it is to withdraw the funds and how long it takes? I need to put some money (less than 3k) to one side and because it'll be needed in less than 12 months for its intended purpose, i figured I'd try my luck with premium bonds rather than a savings account.

Chewbecca · 02/04/2023 09:09

It's really easy to withdraw, just log on and click 'sell'. The money is usually in your account within 3 days. I always wait until after a draw to withdraw if I can!

Eaumyword · 02/04/2023 09:19

I suspect they ring you with a cryptic call to say I'm from NS&I - are you available today?! Gulp, YES!!
I've put the best wax melts on today just in case!

Oops yeah I meant day before 1st working day of the month before the big winners are released online. Was too early this morning 😁

They're pretty persistent. Here's a story were the winner had moved house and didn't update their details, so AM got in touch and met them at their place of work.

That article is a bit unclear - it said something about using alternative contact details. But who has told NS&I their work phone number?

It's funny that the knew they were coming but it didn't cross his mind that he might have won a prize. I mean, it just would.

Whinge · 02/04/2023 16:13

I took it mean that he had added his phone number as alternative contact details, in addition to his address. As you don't need to provide a phone number to buy premium bonds.

LuckOfTheDrawer · 02/04/2023 16:45

Oh, that makes more sense 🙂.

OublietteBravo · 02/04/2023 17:08

Most people will have a phone number associated with their premium bonds these days. As NS&I use MFA.

You can do it on an iPhone! Just change the drop-down at the bottom. I just did it on mine

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/04/2023 06:48

Alas not for me. Unless in the £1000 wins

But someone in Australia will be going to bed happy and on £114 holdings - so it can happen

How long does it take to show if you have won any prize on your account? Obviously being extremely hopeful with a teeny holding that it takes a few days to show
