I had a good look at the winners page.
Most seem on fairly recent bonds back to 2017. I saw one at least from the 80s.

A few scattered old ones.

But most seemed recent and on large holdings.

InMySpareTime · 04/03/2023 21:32

That could be because old bonds get sold first, so people who transfer money in and out through the year (ie saving tax bill to pay later) will lose the oldest bonds even if their balance doesn't fluctuate that much over the years.
I used most of my bonds to buy a car so my current bonds are all less than 3 years old.

pinkpirlie · 04/03/2023 21:54

Won for the first time ever this month : £100. Only have £600 in bonds. Came as a complete shock.

Even if it had been a lower prize I would have still been super excited just for the novelty factor of actually winning something.

Fundayout · 04/03/2023 23:27

Have just over 20k in holdings but haven’t worn a penny since December. Up until then we’d get £25 every month, sometimes £50. Hopeless!

Crimsonbow · 05/03/2023 08:41

Amazing wins this month!

First month winning nothing for our family on just over 40k. Hopefully have better look next time.

That's a good return

Wow super impressed at those winning!

I mentioned a while back I'd had a letter from N S and I but addressed to my maiden name wanting to "reconnect customers with their financial providers". The attached form was just a change of details form though. I've only had premium bonds for a year or so....

So I rang them up and there is a special website to reconnect with lost accounts..... "mylostaccount.org". So..... I am secretly hoping someone bought me premium bonds as a child (in all likelihood just £10 - not a rich family) but I could be a secret millionaire right?!

Do you mean mylostaccount.org.uk ?

Just ran a search on there for old potemkin bonds in my name in case i had a forward thinking grandparent!

Optionschange · 05/03/2023 22:46

AH yes that is what I meant. I've added any places I'd heard of as a kid incase any of my childhood accounts still have any money in.

I wonder how long it will take to find out? I really hope theres a winning premium bond - but frustratingly that doesn't show up on my account as having been entered at all, just the banks/building societies.

notthisagainn · 05/03/2023 22:53

Not seen this board before. I won £100 this month.

lovetowin · 06/03/2023 02:42

Inspired from this thread , I have open premium bond account and invested £50. I will be eligible for prize draw on 1st May. It's very little but it certainly gives me hope. I will be adding £100 pm going forward.

I only add £100 a month - it does add up and I like it being out the way so I have to think before cashing in.

lovetowin · 06/03/2023 20:49

@OneFrenchEgg How do you add funds into it.? By standing order or by debit card?

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2023 21:01

I just transfer as and when

Even if £25

I've set up a standing order for the first of each month.

nettie434 · 06/03/2023 21:54

I have a standing order for £100 too. It goes out of my account at the beginning of the month so I used to get excited when I saw I had an email from NS&I. Now I have realised that an email about a secure message is just confirmation of the purchase, not a lovely winner email.

I only have about £20k as I've only ever been able to afford quite small amounts so I don't win anything very often but I do like being able to hope. They have also reduced the minimum amount you can buy to £25 so I sometimes buy more if I have a spare £25 at the end of the month.

InMySpareTime · 06/03/2023 21:56

The first of the month is the worst day to buy bonds, as then you need to wait two full months (about 60 days depending on which months) until they're in a draw. If you buy them on the 28th they go in a draw after 29-31 days instead.

I always transfer mine on payday for this reason! Also stops me spending it by accident!

OneFrenchEgg · 07/03/2023 18:03

Ok just changed SO to 28th each month

DrMadelineMaxwell · 07/03/2023 20:55

That's a good call! I think I'll change mine to the 29th too as payday is always by the 28th.

OneFrenchEgg · 07/03/2023 21:01

I did 28th because of February, payday is the 26th here.

ShakespearesBlister · 07/03/2023 21:03

I didn't know this thread was here, how exciting. Is there a bond thread every month? I used to win a lot then went 15 months with nothing then got £50 in January then two months with nothing again.
