I’ve worked for 27 years full time. No mat leave or breaks. I’m on a very average wage so don’t need a lot of money. So I defo would give up work for a short time if I won a million. I’d likely go to uni and maybe do something part time eventually.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 03/01/2023 11:06

Argh bloody hell I got really excited then, checked the list and there was a winner from my county with roughly the same holding as me (I reinvest winnings and buy £50 a month by DD so never know my exact total). The date purchased was within the period I have been buying bonds too!

Just checked and it is £105 different to my holding 😩

Furball · 03/01/2023 11:07

Did you see that someone won £10K with only £2 holding bought in 1970

Pyjamageddon · 03/01/2023 11:09

So I'm just a few days into having money in PBs, and having just looked at the winners list can anyone please tell me what the difference is between Holdings (middle column) and Value (right hand column)? Honestly I jumped into this on impulse so I don't have a full understanding yet!

Teatime55 · 03/01/2023 11:10

Not me 😞

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 03/01/2023 11:10

There's a £5k that could conceivably be DH though...... 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Would be great if he won as he's been really fed up about what the economic climate is doing to his business

Holdings is the full amount

value is the amount the bond was invested and when

so winner for example won with £4:5 k roughly but the winning bond was in a batch of £135 thst the purchased in July 21

bloody jammy

  1. Sorry fat fingers

@Pyjamageddon

Holding = total amount of all the bonds they hold
Value = amount paid for the block of bonds that includes the winning one

So if you’d bought £50,000 of bonds in 50 blocks of £1000, your holding would be £50,000 and the value would be £1000.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2023 11:13

@JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon so close but hopefully dh will win

OP posts:
planefullofotters · 03/01/2023 11:13

When they list the holding, is it the holding you have that’s valid in the draw or does it include new bonds you just bought?

Pyjamageddon · 03/01/2023 11:14

@OublietteBravo and @Blondeshavemorefun ahhh that makes sense, thanks for explaining Smile

Oh no this is so disappointing!

I sort of think that it’s unfair that the 50k people win as they’re well off enough to have 50K sat around. Then I think life is unfair. Then I think maybe I would have 50K if I worked hard and saved well like those people, they’ll probably spend the money really wisely and help lots of people.
Then I think nah, fuck them 😂

I like the idea of a little Charlie (as in the chocolate factory) winning loads off one bond that he saved up all his paper round money for!

I should probably concentrate on my job instead of PB fantasising 😂

I only have £40k in premium bonds because DH died and left me his pension, that money is to see me through the rest of my life, I have very little in the way of pension, don't own a house and am too old to buy one so premium bonds is my way to try and make a bit of money every month.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2023 11:26

@bloodywhitecat same as me. That's where my main bulk came from dh dying and life insurance paying out

Bitter sweet isn't it

Abouttimemum · 03/01/2023 11:38

We have 50k in ours which we’ve saved over 25 years, DH didn’t have a pension (he does have a workplace one now worth nothing) so it’s to support retirement basically, and I dream of living in a nicer area. So we’re not rich and not poor, but definitely still need the money! Just like lots of people really. Hoping for £25 tomorrow lol.

user1471561661 · 03/01/2023 11:46

People who really have significant money I kind of think would have their money invested in a different way. There is every chance it will be just as big a deal to someone with full holdings as to the person with a forgotten £2 invested in the 70s.

Ah sorry - I do appreciate that the vast majority of people with full holdings are very normal people with normal lives. I wasn’t being serious, I genuinely don’t begrudge others! Sorry for your loss and I hope 2023 brings you some great PB news.

chevvyroo · 03/01/2023 12:00

My app still shows the December draw. So annoying.

The app won't update until tomorrow.

The big winners are listed today on the website not the app.

diian · 03/01/2023 13:09

If you win 100k or 50k (wishful thinking!) when do you find out? Is it just via the app tomorrow or for that amount of money do you get an email beforehand?

AWaferThinMint · 03/01/2023 14:01

We have £70k in there between is. It's our borrowing for work to be done on the house but the builder is delayed so not really ours!

zighead · 03/01/2023 14:16

I'm waiting with baited breath to check the app tomorrow. Feels like it has been a long time since the last draw and as I haven't won a penny since September, I'm feeling impatient. Good luck everyone!

PriamFarrl · 03/01/2023 14:20

snowballer · 03/01/2023 09:21

Don't lose hope - I've just looked at the list, sorted by lowest holding value and someone with £2 bought in 1970 has won £10k this month! That £2 paid off in the end Grin

Ooh and as I go down the list - one of the £1m winners only has £4625 - jealous!!

Hang on a minute. I’ve got £2 bought in the 70s. But I don’t know where it is and haven’t added it to my holdings.
