When I say with a lower amount you are most likely to win nothing, I just mean on a month by month basis, and probability etc. But each bond still has a chance of getting the million of course (or a smaller prize) so even if you can't put much in personally I'd still give it a go.

You just have to weigh it up against the interest you'd get in a savings account. Rates are so low at the moment, say if you had £500 to save you'd get about £6 or £7 interest after a year. So you are gambling that £6 against the chance of winning a prize. You just have to decide if its worth forgoing that guaranteed interest to (most likely outcome) win nothing on your Premium Bonds, but then there is a always a small chance...

Oh yeah sorry that poster did say 50K! I got that confused with the £25 which each bond has to be.

Still very interesting to know and it’s great you can withdraw your money at any time

@Pemba thanks so much for the detailed information. I really appreciate it! X

Anyone else set up their Alexa to report any prizes from each draw?

'Alexa, open premium bonds' to set it up with your holder number.

Oooh - can you put more than one holder number in, I wonder?

UrsulaPandress · 06/07/2022 18:08

There an app.

RavenousBugblatter · 06/07/2022 18:09

It's a misconception that bonds need to be purchased in £25 units; it's just that the minimum number of bonds that you can buy at one time is £25.

Full holdings means £50,000 which is the most that a person is allowed to have in Premium Bonds. You can buy more whenever you want, but it has to be in £25 units. You can take money out when you want, I think that also has to be in multiples of £25 (not 100% sure on this). Takes around 2 days to get back in your bank account.

Minimum is £25 but you can buy £26 or £49 or £1234 if you want

and same for taking out. Take out as much or as little as you want

it gets sent to a nominated bank account of yours

I would LOVE to have £50k

couldn’t imagine that tbh ever

i only have a small amount of bonds but love the thrill and what if I get every month

Absolutely. And give each holder number a 'nickname' so you can ask for different ones without having to remember the number 😀

One bond = £1 (not £25).

Every £1 bond gives you one entry into the prize draw every month, with a 24,500 to 1 chance of winning a prize. 98% of those prizes are £25.

pedropony76 · 07/07/2022 08:43

Ah right! I think I understand now. Thanks again for the detailed explanation for a rookie guys! Appreciate it :)

recklessgran · 25/07/2022 20:04

Yes, I agree - this month has dragged. I'm feeling impatient too and REALLY would lke a win [or two or three!] Please.

OneFrenchEgg · 25/07/2022 20:20

Hah don't know why I get excited. Up to £6k now and no wins so far.

SwedishEdith · 25/07/2022 21:29

Just a warning - if you need to log in to the NS&I website, it's added phone number authentication now. I had to update mine - took a 20 minute call speaking to 4 different advisers.

Andromachehadabadday · 26/07/2022 04:20

Nope not to early. Really does feel like it’s been ages since the last one though.

I just did mine, they must have sorted it out as mine went straight through. Or maybe it is quiet now, didn't need to speak to anyone.

fedup078 · 26/07/2022 08:35

I really want to win something at at least £500 to keep the faith in pb

RubbishDay · 26/07/2022 16:44

Yes looking forward to Sunday when I get 'the visit' 😀

OneFrenchEgg · 26/07/2022 18:38

It's still a week away! I get all excited, then disappointed, then start counting down again Grin
