Morning all,

Thought I'd start a new thread for June as I couldn't see one that had been done yet. Ignore if I've cross posted!

I'll post the links for all the sites shortly, but for now here's a link to the last thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/legal_money_matters/4252763-2nd-Part-of-Mays-Earn-10-a-day-thread

All welcome, new and old alike - let's start the summer off with a bang and get earning those pennies! Hope everyone has a good month.

I've managed to scrap 15 hours on SD and do 17 hours overtime at work so I'm well happy this week. I was very happy to see my Appen payment this morning too. Grin

Frenchdoors1 · 11/06/2021 21:31

@Adelais I'm sure you put Appen or something like that in your Payoneer account..

TheLolaMontez · 11/06/2021 21:49

Been off here for a couple of weeks - no Am'r for me this month Sad I have had a load of shite for the last couple of months but I do enjoy it! Ah well.
Potato is quiet, same old same old. I've asked ClickW to reinstate my UHRS login as I've been locked out but I don't hold out a lot of hope for making much there. I just feel like it's a really hard slog atm and tbh I'd rather be sunbathing 🤣

Gatekeeper · 11/06/2021 22:32

Has everyone on here been paid by App*n??? My invoice was approved but I haven't been paid!

LoLo2020 · 11/06/2021 23:51

CocoPrivileges · 11/06/2021 23:53

Not paid yet either @Gatekeeper

LoLo2020 · 11/06/2021 23:54

@CocoPrivileges

Not paid yet either *@Gatekeeper*
Ok I have been paid, just checked Payoneer
CocoPrivileges · 12/06/2021 00:07

Ah - just checked Payoneer and I have been paid! Blush I didn't get an email this time though which is weird! Thank you @LoLo2020!

AnotherOne4 · 12/06/2021 08:20

I got paid yesterday (from Appen)

YonderTweek · 12/06/2021 08:25

Haha. I got told off for going over the 20hrs by 2hrs on SD. And funnily enough I got an email saying I hadn't inputted my hours for the same week. Hmm Communication on this project is really odd! Lol. I still like it though.

I also got paid yesterday but never received the email from Payoneer.

AnotherOne4 · 12/06/2021 08:43

Tut tut @YonderTweek fancy getting told off lol.

I also got that email. It's all very contradictory isn't it.

Catatemyhomework · 12/06/2021 09:38

@AnotherOne4, glad you bought something nice too. It's good to treat ourselves when we've worked so hard. Smile
I got an email saying I hadn't input my hours too Hmm
Right so off to do 6 hours on SD on a beautiful, sunny and hot Saturday!

YonderTweek · 12/06/2021 15:11

@AnotherOne4

Tut tut *@YonderTweek* fancy getting told off lol.

I also got that email. It's all very contradictory isn't it.

I was slightly miffed because I was the one who emailed them asking what to do with my 2 extra hours, but no one got back to me. Hmm Never mind!

It's such a nice day and I can't bring myself to do anything. I think I'll sit down and do a spot of SD before tonight's game. I can do this! Haha.

AnotherOne4 · 12/06/2021 15:29

Come on @YonderTweek you've got this. You can do it!

I've got 30 mins left, and that's my 6 done for today.

YonderTweek · 12/06/2021 15:39

Thanks @AnotherOne4 Grin And well done you! Enjoy the rest of your day!

rhij86 · 12/06/2021 15:45

Well done ladies!
I'm trying to drum up the motivation to peel some potatoes

@YonderTweek

Thanks *@AnotherOne4* Grin And well done you! Enjoy the rest of your day!
I must admit it's hard to sit here and do it when it's so nice outside.
YonderTweek · 12/06/2021 16:06

@AnotherOne4 You have some willpower! I was out eating ice lollies earlier. Grin I never do the 6 hours because I just can't due to childcare and life (wish I could!) but luckily I've been ok getting an hour in in the mornings and then 2-3 in the evenings. Although my husband is getting a bit sick of me sitting here clicking our evenings away. Blush I keep thinking get the hours in when the project is still on because it will end eventually!

AnotherOne4 · 12/06/2021 16:10

@YonderTweek I can only do six hours a day at the weekends. During the week I struggle to find the time, so I like to get a good chunk done and dusted. Plus, if work runs out, I know I've done my hours Grin

feckinarse · 12/06/2021 19:16

Can I ask people, what do you do about tax? I have googled and looked a bit on HMRC website - do I need to set up as a sole trader? I already pay tax on my 'real job' through PAYE and obviously I want to line up everything so I can pay proper tax on this, but I'm not sure what the first step is.

This is very much a 'side hustle' and won't replace my regular job, but SD is going well and I'll be past the 1k threshold in the next month or the one after, I should think, so I want to be prepared.

Tohaveandtohold · 13/06/2021 15:17

@feckinarse, you need to ‘register for self assessment’ on the gov website. The first time you register, they will send you a unique tax payer code which you’ll then use to log in online and file your returns.
I have an almost full time job as well and this is a side hustle for me but I made over 3k from it last financial year so I completed my first self assessment last week. It was straight forward.
When completing the form, there’s a place where you’ll tick that you’re employed as well. I needed the total income and total tax I paid in my day job last year and I got the figure from my P60.
The rest of the process is entering the total amount I earned from this and deducting the 1k tax free amount and it calculated the tax I need to pay and it told me the deadline for paying it. You can also make the payment online using your debit card.

feckinarse · 13/06/2021 15:51

That's really helpful, tohave, thank you!

AnotherOne4 · 13/06/2021 16:08

Thanks for posting all that @Tohaveandtohold. I'm interested in learning about all this.
Do we only fill out the tax forms once a year?
Your current employer doesn't need to know anything about this, do they?

Tohaveandtohold · 13/06/2021 18:47

@AnotherOne4, no, your current employer does not need to know.

Before it calculated my tax, it asked if I want it to be taken from my PAYE tax next year ( I think that’ll mean they will contact my employer to change my tax code) but I selected the No option so it worked out my tax.
I already put 20% of every thing I earn aside so I have the money to pay it without this messing with my tax code.

There’s a video on the gov site as well that you can watch before completing your returns and it’s very helpful.

AnotherOne4 · 13/06/2021 19:38

Thanks @Tohaveandtohold
One more question Grin so for all the money we earn between now and May 2022, we can fill in a tax form in April 2022?
