Hope you don’t mind me joining!!

I’m a long term SAHP mostly now because we are rural, I don’t drive and my husband is in the forces so often away...

I’m desperate to get stuck in and definitely have the hours to put in a shift but I’m finding the selection and number of sites I could register at overwhelming...

Where do I start and what are best sites to move forward with...

I’ve registered for Clickworker, Crisp and Appen today.

Thoughtsfortheday · 21/04/2021 17:20

p.s what are potatoes?!

AnotherOne4 · 21/04/2021 17:39

@Thoughtsfortheday - welcome Smile the three you've joined are a very good start. I'd also suggest Qmee and Prolific.
Just go slow and steady, and find what you like. There doesn't seem to be much work around at the moment, which sucks.

This thread is great though, plenty of people to help out when you get stuck with anything.

PandemicPalava · 21/04/2021 19:28

@Catatemyhomework I have the link for the LB exam too, can't work out if I'm going to do it again or not as like you say no feedback so I have no idea what I need to correct.

Catatemyhomework · 21/04/2021 19:39

@PandemicPalava, it's difficult isn't it? On the one hand I think that I might as well as I have no other projects. On the other hand I really can't face doing it all again and getting booted out again. I honestly find some of the nuances contradictory and I cannot determine what is correct from looking at the examples in the documentation. Also, I did apply for the SME job with LB today as it's the first time I've seen it advertised. I don't think you can work on 2 LB projects at once, so I wrote in the other information section that I was waiting to sit the exam for OMQA but that I might not pass and wanted to be considered for this SME role.

ruralwanderer · 21/04/2021 20:00

@thoughtsfortheday, potato is Crisp. I'd recommend applying for Intellizoom and User Testing too. I've never made much on Clickworker but like Appen, Intellizoom, Prolific and Crisp.

Thoughtsfortheday · 21/04/2021 20:15

Thanks guys, I will check out Intellizoom. 😊

Out off all the sites that I have signed up to today prolific is definitely my favourite in terms of format but after spending an hour registering and entering if it’s of information about myself there is no studies, is that normal?

StanleyR38 · 21/04/2021 20:27

@Thoughtsfortheday you ideally need to have your computer turned on, with chrome/safari open, have the browser notifier extension installed and then you will be able to hear a noise when a survey is available.

Quite a lot of the surveys especially the higher values ones have limited places, so you have to be fast to accept the survey otherwise all the places fill up.

I'm still working form home so have my laptop open all day anyway and in the last two months i think i've made almost £150 from this alone.

Winterjoy · 21/04/2021 21:46

I've let Prolific fall by the wayside this month, need to be more proactive in keeping it open while I'm working - there's no excuse really as I'm on the computer anyway!

Two App surveys not added to my invoice from last week. Have raised tickets so will see what the response is - don't think I'll do any more for now until the info about frequency is clarified.

Anyone doing search engine evaluation work for LB? Have started the qualification process and wondering if I can expect much work once I'm up and running.

PandemicPalava · 21/04/2021 21:57

@Catatemyhomework I also applied for that and the other one. I figured that I would go with whichever one I succeed at (if any!) Part of me thinks I may as well as I have already read 248 pages but I'm dreading it

Thoughtsfortheday · 21/04/2021 22:01

Next issue I have ran into is the payoneer site (through Appen) needing my NI number...

I’ve not worked for such a long time that think I’m going to need to send away to get a copy of this (is there an easier way to access it)

I’m gutted and got accepted for my 1st project (Harpeth)

unicornpoopoop · 21/04/2021 22:20

@Tinging probably about an hour so far. Some I realised I had forgot to say the opening and tried to go back but you can't change it after you've gone to the next one so I don't think it's worth me finishing.

Also I couldn't remember what I had said for some so when later on they asked for a different way of saying it I didn't know what to say. And some of the questions were just weird and I had no idea how to phrase the them. I thought it would be an easy $20 but there's just so many instructions

Winterjoy · 21/04/2021 22:29

Based on the comments here I think I'll give the voice recording App job a miss!

Buster27 · 21/04/2021 23:23

Disappointing to hear about the voice project on app, was hoping it would be a quick, easy one to do tomorrow evening but sounds like it's not worth it.

Thoughtsfortheday · 22/04/2021 07:12

Wahhh I just seen to running into problems left, right and centre...

I spent ages registering and filling all the info in for Prolific last night to be told after the verify passport part that I had been rejected from the site...

I have no idea why other than the possibility that it was a very old passport picture but still in day and definitely me!!!!

I’ve emailed to report but only got a generic “respond in 72 hours” blah blah and I’m not hiding up much hope...

Has this happened to anyone else?

Tinging · 22/04/2021 07:26

@unicornpoopoop that sounds like a nightmare, it’s ridiculous how much they have underestimated the time requirement. I hope they pay you!

singsingbluesilver · 22/04/2021 08:55

So, I have been doing the Appen FB survey twice a week as per the emails they have sent me, but looks like they are only invoicing me for one a week. That is very annoying as I actually do them properly and spend 30mins per time. Is it worth raising a ticket? Is anyone else in the same situation?

Heyha · 22/04/2021 09:04

I'll check mine later but I think they are going on once a week here too. UU, true to form, still no invoice so that's their second chance gone.

Had an email for an S project this morning, go into it and click through, doesn't work as is so often the case with new things on App.

Really hoping I'm doing ok with my WWW probation so I can forget about App entirely, I'm sure it must have been good previously for it to be recommended on here but it's crap at the minute.

Catatemyhomework · 22/04/2021 09:33

I applied for project S too on Appen this morning. Just got the ubiquitous email thanking me for my interest in the project blah blah blah. We'll see.......

Adelais · 22/04/2021 09:35

Have any potato people been paid yet? I don’t know why I keep having to chase them to pay me. I’ve double checked the email I’ve sent the invoice to so I don’t understand what the problem is Sad

MrsWombat · 22/04/2021 09:55

I haven't been paid yet. They generally do my bank deposits on a Friday afternoon so fingers crossed for tomorrow. I think paypal is processed quicker so maybe ask to swap to that? There have been a couple of bank holidays this month so that's probably the hold up, however I think it's 30 day terms, so not technically late yet anyway.
MrsWombat · 22/04/2021 09:58

I also got invited to Project S. I got a tiny bit excited when I realised it was a MLT* project as I loved though but I've not been invited to any of those for well over a year. I won't hold my breath!

Winterjoy · 22/04/2021 10:42

@singsingbluesilver I've raised a ticket about missing payment for the 'twice a week' survey. Have included text from invitation email received the day I completed the survey, explicitly stating that the survey can be done twice a week. Will report back on their response... might be a few months Hmm

Surely they must realise that sending out an invitation email that bypasses the project home page, will lead to very few people visiting the page regularly?! Perhaps it's being done on purpose to scam people into completing the survey without pay? It's certainly making Ap look like a total cowboy outfit!

Adelais · 22/04/2021 13:15

Thanks @MrsWombat, glad it’s not just me then and hopefully won’t have to chase them this month and will get paid in the next few days 🤞

AnotherOne4 · 22/04/2021 21:02

I've just done the voice recording job on Ap**n. Took about an hour. Not 100% sure I did it all correctly though Confused
