Hi All,

Sorry if this sounds dim but please could you explain some of these ways to make extra money.

Due to a relationship split I’m looking to earn an extra £200 plus per month for everyday living expenses.

I’ve been directed to this thread and it seems like it is possible to earn extra money in some of these ways.

I currently work full time and need something that I can do from home on an evening and weekend.

Also, please could someone explain matched betting.

All help gratefully received.

AnotherOne4 · 17/04/2021 19:15

@Crystalcrazy - I would recommend reading the whole thread from the beginning. Even go back and find the previous months threads. This is what I did.
Alot of it is trail and error, and finding what you are good at/enjoy the most. April is turning out to be a really quiet month for me Sad

Redcrayons · 17/04/2021 20:19

@3dogsnorth you buy stuff via FB ads and then review the purchase process. You get reimbursed for the cost of what you’ve bought plus a small fee for everyone one you do. The stuff is yours to do what you like with so you could sell or return it and keep the extra.

It was my first one this month So still to work out whether it’s worth the time.

TheFishingTrip2019 · 17/04/2021 21:22

Hi all

I am here with some referral links, really need to knuckle down this month as i am going onto SSP so money is really tight.

A few things i use currently:

Clickworker: www.clickworker.com/en/clickworker?utm_source=2830103&utm_campaign=CW4CW&utm_medium=email

Swagbucks: www.swagbucks.com/lp-savings-button?cmp=695&cxid=swagbuttonref&rb=56174758&extRefCmp=1&extRb=56174758 (i literally log on and do one survey a day)

Qmee (another survey site) qm.ee/CCR7NRVEAJHIC

Trading 212: deposit £1 and get a free share, you can then withdraw the £1 so free money basically, and i get a free share too: www.trading212.com/invite/FMEpnR3Z

I'm loosing the will about, I still get no projects on appen, I got Am*r but the Ada wouldn't load, raised a ticket but help came too late so ended up past the deadline for purchases and still couldn't see the ads. Only think I have it the news survey.

Potato is insanely quiet, what's going on? I've struggled past few months to get the minimum. Bespoke has plenty work, I wonder how you get there?

AnotherOne4 · 18/04/2021 14:59

I feel your pain @Tattiespuds. I'm the same, I have no long term project to work on. It's really frustrating. I practically have all wkd to work on stuff, but there is literally nothing about Sad

I managed to book 2 shifts on potato yesterday and was happy as there doesn't seem to have been many lately.

It was so slow I didn't manage to do much work in the first hour and in the second one they actually asked if 5 people would drop to half an hour as it was so slow!

In the hour and a half that I worked I only earned just over £5.

Tattiespuds · 18/04/2021 18:08

@lynsey91 I saw those shifts and was going to grab one but was busy so logged in to look at queue to decide what to do. saw there wasn't much content there so didn't bother.
Wonder why it's so quiet. It's rubbish. I miss the shifts, I miss the surges. Doesn't seem like even work to go round anymore 😕

I am finding it such a disappointment. I waited over a year to go onto it and was actually quite excited. Now it just seems such a slog to earn very little

Dancingdolphins · 18/04/2021 20:23

Potato do seem to over recruit and have these periods of it being really quiet. I do bespoke and that's ideal for me. They do occasionally recruit for them. I would say hang in there as I used to easily make £800-1000 a month on the normal queues (as long as they hadn't just recruited!) by getting on early morning for an hour and a half and then in the evening for an hour. I think the lack of surges would make it hard for me to do that now though.

Can I ask whether Bespoke is paid per item or is it an hourly rate and if so is it £10 per hour? Can you recall how long you were with Potato before you were asked to join Bespoke?

Def over recruited last year. I did combat till it stopped in Jan, and now it's so quiet which makes it hard to make a reasonable amount each month. Don't think they've recruited for the other since 2019 🙁
PandemicPalava · 18/04/2021 23:18

Ugh just failed the i**x exam 3 times. Frazzled. Transcription is more my thing and I have another lb role to apply for. Just want a long term project :(

Dancingdolphins · 19/04/2021 07:27

@peabrainer yes you're right on the hourly rate. It was only a couple of months for me but as @0htooooodles says it was in 2019.

halfwaythrough2 · 19/04/2021 07:38

Hey lovely ladies, I'm here because I've lost my job due to Covid and them not having enough money to continue and closing down. I'm 7 months pregnant and although I've got some savings and baby stuff we all know how fast it goes.

Could someone please explain to me all the sites you are talking about? I've read nearly every thread and I'm a but confused by it,

When I've tried to do surveys in the past I never made any money as I was constantly re directed to other sites to sign up etc.

Thank you

seizethecuttlefish · 19/04/2021 11:48

Welcome @halfwaythrough2, we're a good bunch and happy to help. I'd register with connect.Appen and do the Crispthinking exam. Both you might wait a while for work and it's not always steady but they are pretty regular.

Prolific surveys are also good. Can you do transcription? A few people do well with that. Lionbridge is like Appen and his projects on it. Clickworker and Neevo sometimes also have decent tasks. Ask away and I'm sure one of this lovely lot will be about to advise.

Agree with everyone, potato is dire. Massive over recruitment and I think quite a few of the older members are struggling. I've been working for them 18 months and never seen the other shifts recruited for. Going by the number of messages about infilled shifts, hopefully they'll do it soon.

I'm finding Ap very quiet too. None of the projects that pop up for a few hours a month have appeared.

I did manage to land some freelance work for what I'm actually qualified for so I'm thinking I might get off my butt and set up my business. It's keeping me really busy though.

Hope everyone's ticking along?

Hi this is my first month, I'm really enjoying it at the moment. My aim was to make around £300 a month to help pay off my debt faster.

Just a few questions I have been accepted onto the Appen Facebook surveys but if I am logging in on my computer it says to see email for details of how to use - but the email gave no information. If I log in on the mobile app it says no tasks - is it a case of just waiting or am I missing something?

Redcrayons · 19/04/2021 14:42

Not great month for me, my RL job has been so busy so not a lot of time for anything else.

I’m a bit worried I’m not going to hit the potato minimum this month. Managed to 2 shifts over the weekend, but content was so low I barely scraped 100 items.

What’s the criteria for bespoke? I’ve been on for a while, but I don’t think I’m quick enough and I’ve had a couple of warnings.

Redcrayons · 19/04/2021 14:45

@user1471467504 they will send you an email with a link to the tool when it’s available.

seizethecuttlefish · 19/04/2021 16:03

@Redcrayons they haven't recruited for shifts in a while. I might have missed it but I'm about 18months in and nothing. My understanding is when they are recruiting for them they say on Slack and you can ask and then they check your work. I don't think you can apply if you're on a formal warning but I think coaching is fine.

whysotriggered · 19/04/2021 16:10

@seizethecuttlefish good luck with your business

Appen is ticking along ok, I have a long-term project which is my main earner.
Potato - I do about an hour each day and make the minimum each month but of course, that isn't actually a lot of money. I think the most I've made is £132. I have been doing it for nearly 5 months now and barely see any surges and when they do come along, they don't last long. But will keep up with it as it's useful when there is nothing else to do.

I don't do anything else really but think I do need to find another source as you just never know with these online companies.

ruralwanderer · 19/04/2021 18:52

I've spent the day exam invigilating and it's easy money! Albeit only a few times a year, but well worth looking into if you're able to do school hours on a flexible basis 👍

Heyha · 19/04/2021 19:21

Oh that's a good shout! I did invigilation when I was at uni, brilliant if you can find a school with a sixth form as there's obviously tonnes more exam days per season that way. In normal times of course.
The longer papers are a bit tedious but I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it tbh. When I started teaching we still did invigilation ourselves, didn't enjoy that so much as just sat thinking about all the other things I could be doing 😂

Heyha · 20/04/2021 09:43

Interesting observation today- my FB survey frequencies haven't changed but the instructions for the one that pays best now say you MUST click on each story. Previously if it was a publisher that I didn't want associated to my computer, or a story I didn't want to know about, o wouldn't click into it. Be interesting to see what happens if I carry on doing that as if it hampers me doing the project then it will go in the bin, I don't want to be forced to give clicks to any old crap!
