@Theforest

I might put some savings in premium bonds. Interest rates are so low. What is the notice period like to withdraw the money?
No notice period, there was about a two week delay getting money out at some points last year but I withdrew some a couple of weeks ago and it was in my bank within 3 days.
Theforest · 27/03/2021 18:56

Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun @gottomove account opened today 👍

WaltzingTilda · 31/03/2021 17:01

Do they still knock on the door? I thought they contacted the £million winners by phone since lockdown last year ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/04/2021 03:50

I will let you know if ever win a million

No big win for me :(

Let’s see if £25 tomorrow

This is the first month mine are eligible, well about from the £14 I've had in there for 40 odd years. Won quite a few £25s with that.

Let us know the contact method whoever wins the £1 million. Grin

WaltzingTilda · 01/04/2021 09:57

No big win for me either Sad

HmmmWhatUserName · 01/04/2021 11:27

Sadly no knock on the door for me, it must be amazing to get that call though Smile

Pleasebe2022 · 01/04/2021 12:10

Nothing for me either so I'll check tomorrow for any smaller win.

I'd it just the million goes out today or the 100k and 50k too?

I'd be happy with 5k if that was tomorrow!

Mia85 · 01/04/2021 12:21

The details of winners for £5k plus are already available here www.nsandi.com/prize-checker/winners If there are no winners from you area with the amount you have in bonds then sadly it's clear you're not a big winner already.

Silkiescat · 01/04/2021 12:39

I won £3,275 Grin but then I woke up. At first I thought that's amazing first month in I won so much then Hmm I've just woken up haven't I? Though some lucky person has won a £1 million on a £3k bond bought in Nov 20 on that list.

WaltzingTilda · 01/04/2021 12:47

@Pleasebe2022 The £million winners are informed the day before the first working day of the month I think (so that would be 31st of March) and the high value winners ( including 5k winners) on the first working day of the month (today) and the lower prize winners the following day I think . Happy to be corrected.

custardbear · 01/04/2021 12:47

I'm thinking about premium bonds - are there different types? Are they all able to be cashed in quickly if needed?
Thank you

Mistressofmany · 01/04/2021 12:53

I got excited seeing someone in Lothian had won a million, before realising it couldn't be me! (I don't have 50,00 in bonds - is that what the "holding" part means?)

Pleasebe2022 · 01/04/2021 13:45

no one in my county with my holding is a big winner. Ive won £25 or £50 most months so lets hope for that tomorrow. Good luck everyone x

So my mum has had a few (and probably only about 20) since 1960s. Would she have been notified of a win or do you need to check all the time. She definitely hasn't checked in years.

Silkiescat · 01/04/2021 18:53

They tell you by post so if she hasn't moved or has told them her current address she would have heard through the post. If they don't know her current address she wouldn't have heard and this goes through ways to check:

www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2019/03/unclaimed-premium-bond-prizes/

It's probably worth her registering online if she is willing to do that and then you can get it paid straight into your bank account if you link an account with an e-mail to inform you if you select those options. If she prefers to stay post only then make sure they have her current address and she watches the post. Think there may also be a phone option.

DeathAndTaxis · 01/04/2021 18:54

Does anyone know what time all of the results are available tomorrow 😄?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/04/2021 18:55

She needs to write a letter stating her holder id and dob plus any addresses she has lived at

OP posts:
Silkiescat · 01/04/2021 18:55

I had some from the 1970s and was post only then so if she's never joined their phone or registered online it will be post.

Nowadays if you get them new you can do online, e-mail and link to bank account.

Silkiescat · 01/04/2021 18:56

www.nsandi.com/prize-checker

WaltzingTilda · 01/04/2021 19:07

@Theforest Your mum should have been notified as long as NS&I have got her correct address. If it is a small win she would have got a cheque in the post. I think they have either stopped or soon will stop sending out cheques by post and are asking investors to provide back account details for them to transfer winnings. I never used to check online like I do now, every now and again I would to get a cheque in the post for a small win and would just deposit it in my bank . Your mum could contact them and ask if she has won anything. She can also set up an online account and check but I have no idea if the online account will show all winnings since the 60s though.

WaltzingTilda · 01/04/2021 19:09

@DeathAndTaxis Methinks its midnight, but I am happy to be corrected .
