Is this the first month of lower interest rates? I've had around £70-80,000 over mine and the children's accounts for a year and this is the first month none of us have won anything. Sad

lifestooshort123 · 03/10/2020 11:40

The more bonds you hold, the better the chance of winning. Interest rates are pants at the moment so I've left mine there - someone has to win big! I have a large number of bonds and win every month, usually at least a £25 or a couple of them.

VanGoghsDog · 03/10/2020 11:42

@ssd

I've had a £10 premium bond for 44 years. Never won a thing. Don't even know if I'm in the draw. Does having a bond automatically enter you into the prize draw?
It is automatic, yes. That's the point of them.

Have you got an online account and have you checked the number to see if you have won?

blue25 · 03/10/2020 11:55

You’re not very likely to win with just a £10 bond. Most people have thousands in them.

ssd · 03/10/2020 12:59

I haven't got an online account. I think I checked ages ago but haven't for a while. Wouldn't they email you if you won?

ssd · 03/10/2020 13:03

How do I find my NS&I number?

CoronaIsWatching · 03/10/2020 13:06

£25 for me this month, my second win since I bought them in July. Have £7,025 holdings now currently. They're so fun, on the last day of the month I'm always googling things I'm going to buy if I win £1million

BrazenlyDefying · 03/10/2020 13:08

I've been shoving all my savings into Bonds as the rates on most savings accounts are so grim. Now sitting with £10,500 but £2k of those won't kick in until November's draw.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/10/2020 13:10

Welcome about thread :)

@Isobels you will never lose the amount you put in. Abs unlike the lottery doesn’t cost you anything to play as such

Yes obv having max amount /many thousands gives you a better chance to win

But

Years ago I used to look with my dad on ceefax and remember

Essex 10 win £100k

I don’t want thr million - well would be nice lol - but happy with £50k

CupoTeap · 03/10/2020 13:19

Well done to the winners, nothing for me this month, but £50 so far this year.

ssd · 03/10/2020 13:45

Can you lose money in bonds?
I have a savings account earning not very much, I'd never thought of bonds. I'm scared to lose money?

CoronaIsWatching · 03/10/2020 14:00

No , you can't lose money
Blondeshavemorefun · 03/10/2020 16:27

You don’t lose money

What you put in you get out of you need it

Just a chance every month to win money

Tax free

Well, if you don't have an online account are you sure they know your email address?

Anyway, set up an online account, it's not difficult.

Dontrainonmyparade · 03/10/2020 18:35

£25 for me this month, same last month. I have about 16.5k in there I think. I use it to save for my tax bill so any win is a bonus!

DappledOliveGroves · 03/10/2020 18:38

Nothing for me or DP this month. Between us we have around £45k invested. I've won around £150 over the last seven months and DP maybe a bit more. Holding out for the million!

MintyChapsticks · 03/10/2020 18:40

We have 3 lots of 50K invested - in my name, my husbands and my youngest son. We average between £75 & £175 a month over the 3 accounts so not masses or anything!
This month was me at £25 and my husband at £75. Last month was my son £100 and me £75.

BadDucks · 03/10/2020 18:41

I’ve won £450 since last September. Think I won something every month up until June when I took £10K out and left £15k in there. Since July I’ve won £25 every other month

Ratched · 03/10/2020 18:41

Tut.
Now I am really peeved Hmm
I have had £11k invested for a year now and won nowt Confused

iheardabell · 03/10/2020 20:00

I've had £50k in there since lockdown (sold my house and can't find another I like so out the money in NS&I.
I've won £75 twice and £25 once.
I haven't done the maths to see if I'm ahead or not....I'm just desperately hoping I will have my prayers answered and win a big amount before I pull the money out.
You never know! Good luck everyone!

Hirewiredays · 03/10/2020 20:13

I got £75 this month and my son won £500! That's the most I've ever heard!

LuckyHedgehog · 04/10/2020 07:24

That's brilliant Hirewiredays - the largest single amount we've ever won is £50, and that was only once (we do win between £25 and £100 most months, but all made up of £25 prizes).

£100 for me and £50 each for DD and DS this month (all on max. holdings).

ChasingRainbows19 · 04/10/2020 07:27

I’ve £3000 in mine only for a few months. Nothing yet. My partner has well over £20k and wins around £50 most months sometimes a little more.

I’ve moved mine from saving accounts that have decimated the interest. I’m not interested in stocks/shares. So this seems like a good balance. It’s safe and easy access.

justanotherneighinparadise · 04/10/2020 07:28

We have a large amount in bonds and win multiples of £25 most months.

InfiniteSheldon · 04/10/2020 07:36

Another £25 for me too. Last year I won £125 with just over £3000 worth of bonds this year I'm on £100 so that's pretty good tbh. I'm starting to be a little disappointed it's only £25 I keep hoping for a bigger one. I'm also mentally adding £50 a year to my 'wins' as I no longer buy a weekly lottery ticket.
