I'm new to premium bonds. I've only got £50 worth. I've decided that instead of playing the lotto I'm going to invest £25 4 times a year. Which is about how much I spent on the lotto. At least this way I get to keep the capital.

Pleasebe2022 · 16/02/2021 13:28

So for a millionaire win you would be notified on the last day of the month so 28th feb for the march draw? Any other prizes are drawn 1st of the month and notified fully by 2nd? So now I need to be checking me emails on the last day of each month for the biggee as I thought it all happened on the 1st of the month!

Flambola · 16/02/2021 14:30

If you win the million you’ll get a letter with a number to call, there’ll be a specific person for you to contact. You won’t be notified by email.

Flambola · 16/02/2021 14:31

Previous to Covid you’d get a visit from ‘Agent Million’.

Don’t bother to call CS, we are not allowed to tell you if you’ve won the million. 🙄

I did wonder what had happened to Agent Million during these Covid times. Grin

So they are relying on the Royal Mail then? Hmmm... Can't help thinking this might lead to unsuspecting millionaires as in most areas RM has been patchy and unreliable since Covid

At least it gives me a hopeless excuse as to why they haven't informed me of my million pound win yet. Grin

Not long till I'm in my first ever draw. I've mentally divided my million pound win between my family 😂.
Seriously though I'm sadly quite excited!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2021 10:56

PrivateParty · 25/02/2021 16:33

Think this will be my first draw! Exciting!

DawnAnn · 25/02/2021 16:40

March will be my first draw too. Hoping for some good news, even though it is unlikely.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2021 17:48

Well assuming I’m not the millionaire then as no visit

Are the prizes the same each month

Last month was
2 x million
5 x £100k
8 x £50k
18 x £25k
45 x £10k
90 ( I think. Eyes went squiffy) of £5k

Plus not sure how many of the £1k £500 £100 and £25

The NS&I premium bonds prize checker app says 3 days until next results on 2nd March; the high value winners are always released the day before on the NS&I website.

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 27/02/2021 21:06

I was excited for the draw too but realised I haven't had mine for a full month! Sad

DeathAndTaxis · 27/02/2021 21:08

Oh no Its, fingers crossed for you next month 🙂.

So now the wait to see if win £25

Is this worthwhile? I've been thinking about putting a small amount in, a couple of thousand possibly, for the children. Is that likely to get a return? Or not worth bothering? Also, where do you go?

BarbaraofSeville · 01/03/2021 02:15

For a couple of thousand, you may or may not win. The odds of winning for different holdings are explained on monetsavingexpert.

www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/premium-bonds/

If you want to save for DC, there are often special children's accounts that pay a little more interest than standard adult savings accounts, which pay pretty much nothing these days.

You're effectively gambling the interest for the chance of a better return.

For £2000 in a child's account you might get £50 a year interest and you probably won't win that amount in PBs, but there's a small chance you might.

Premium bonds are currently most advantageous for adults who have around £10k or more in savings that they don't want to risk on the stock market or lock away as you should get nearly the 1% payout rate, which is far more than the best instant access cash account rate of 0.5%.
