Ha. Yes I used to win every month. Better when it was £50 not £25.

Currently probably 10 out of 12 months.[/quote]

Brilliant. Hopefully I'll be just as lucky 🤞

I’m really thinking of putting my savings in PBs after yet another letter from my bank about reduced interest rates. Can’t invest longterm as we want to move in the next couple of years.

Is there a downside I’m missing? Obviously good chance of getting no prizes, but I would take that over the 0.01% interest that my non-ISA savings are currently getting!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/02/2021 21:36

No downside afaik @SinkGirl

Nothing for me ever. My late grandparents bought me a £1 bond when I was born (not yesterday 😂)

That's why I moved my savings over, the interest rate on my savings account was pathetic. Go for it, you've nothing to lose.
Tisforptarmigan · 02/02/2021 22:08

I've got 50k invested and have won something every month - not much, usually £25, max of £50.

After reading this thread thought I'd check out February's prizes on my app. Won NOTHING. First time ever!!!! I'm blaming you lot. Smile

CarolinaWeeper · 02/02/2021 22:28

I've won nothing this month, on approx £30k. I think this is only the second month in the past year I haven't won anything so I'm trying to remember that.....but it still feels disappointing!

BarbaraofSeville · 03/02/2021 03:53

Looks like we're starting to see the impact of the reduction in the payout rate, which has gone from 1 in 24 000 to 1 in 35000 chance approx that each bond will win.

Before, with £30k+, there was a good chance of a win every month.

Now, you should still win a few times a year, but it's a lot more likely you'll have a few months without winning anything.

If you haven't already, it's always good to read what money saving expert say about the chances of winning and think about it on a population level rather than as an individual.

InTheCludgie · 03/02/2021 07:40

blondeshavemorefun my investment like few pps is due to inheritance. Planning to move house after I finish uni in a few years and it will go towards the deposit. Am using any winnings I get to help supplement my student income.

SinkGirl · 03/02/2021 08:35

It looks like it’s very straightforward to withdraw funds when you need them - is it quick? I don’t plan to take any out for a while but you never know what might happen.

It usully takes around 3 -5 days. There's a helpful calculator here.

Not nothing this month. Never mind there is always March, or April ....

SinkGirl · 03/02/2021 09:36

Thanks everyone, just signed up and bought some so fingers crossed it’s more lucrative than shitty savings accounts (can’t really be worse!)

Therealone · 03/02/2021 10:03

@Blondeshavemorefun I bought the maximum with an inheritance from my mum, she'd be so pleased if I won.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2021 10:38

@Therealone 💐

It’s not I want Thr million. Well be nice lol

But to have £50/100k would be amazing

Its quite exciting!!! In these dull times its the highlight of my month :)

SinkGirl · 03/02/2021 12:42

Yep I think it will be the highlight of my month too! The amount I’ve put in was going to earn me £1 interest this year so nothing lost!

lightbulb23 · 04/02/2021 00:03

£25 win from £36,000 savings. Woo hoo!! I'm
Pleased with that

HeronLanyon · 04/02/2021 08:17

Just won 74 on lottery so I temporarily withdraw my earlier threat to flounce out of there once I find its heavy door to slam. Also withdraw my nascent plan to storm the premium bond HQ for ‘my’ prize obviously being held back by them this month.

Mum45678 · 04/02/2021 18:23

I've just invested my rainy day money into them. For the first time in my life I've actually got some saved away and I don't want to invest it as I'd like to be able to access it easily (so don't want to risk investing it). Looking forward to the draw once I qualify. I have dreams I'll win a big chunk to pay down my mortgage.

userxx · 06/02/2021 09:23

How long does it take for the winnings to hit the nominated bank account ?

OublietteBravo · 06/02/2021 13:34

@userxx - the £25 I won in the January draw hit my account on 11 January.
