Yeah unless you got 30 grand and up.. chances are slim from looking at the past high winners and amounts invested .. you do get the odd high winners with low amounts invested tho

Flambola · 01/02/2021 13:14
@Flambola I heard at the beginning of the month after the release they can receive up to 13,000 call a day? Must be incredibly stressful.
That’s correct, unfortunately! The calls ramp up a few days before a draw and continue until about mid-month.

If it’s not clear, I currently work for NS&I after losing my last job in March.

So it irritates me when people tell me Covid is not an excuse, and they’ve “had to wait 40 minutes damnit” to speak to a rep. I may have just been speaking to someone before you for an hour, who’s husband has died and she doesn’t see the point in going on, all for 50p more than min wage. And then get a 9 second breather before the next one! Covid is rampant throughout my workplace (currently self-isolating - even though I actually contracted it in Nov).

On a brighter note, if anyone ever needs help with processes, I can point you in the right direction.

And good luck today. I also have PB so hoping for a big win myself. And give up work altogether Grin

It certainly looks that way, even £25 would be nice though!

@Flambola good point! I bet many of us don’t even consider the sad and emotional content of some of those calls, I’ve always found the website really easy to navigate and the one time I had to call. Wanted to cash in some particular bonds and avoid others he was really helpful.

I’m a bit of a PB nerd and even have the book written about it Grin hoping that goes in my favour, looking at you Ernie!

Good luck, hope you’re lucky.

AaronPurr · 01/02/2021 16:12

I suspect I know the answer but i'm curious. If i'd won a large amount it would be showing on my online account now, right? I know when you win £25 / £50 etc it takes a few days to show up, but is it the same for bigger amounts?

HeronLanyon · 01/02/2021 18:21

I only really became aware of ns&i - premium bonds and others savings accounts etc when my lovely old mum died. Discovered she had squirrelled away money and had been winning quite a bit from time to time ! Think she kept that quiet because she always disapproved of gambling which she must have seen it as in a way.
They were absolutely great from start to finish sorting all of her ns&i affairs out. Made me think of them when wondering how best to safeguard inheritance in the short term.

Hello,

I may need to start a separate thread but I'm currently saving for a house. I was thinking of putting the money I'm saving each month into PBs, is that sensible? Will brokers mind or should I just leave it in my account?

FAQs · 01/02/2021 23:55

£25 this month, better than last month, and the month before!

FAQs · 01/02/2021 23:56

@iveturnedintoachip I can't imagine them minding, you can download your holders certificate showing the amount saved.

Are you a first time buyer? If you are, I’d look into a LISA first.

As a PP says, LISA if you're eligible then you might as well go with PBs, you're effectively gambling the interest you'd receive in a savings account, but seeing as the best you could hope for on £10k is about £50 per year, you probably might as well.

Nothing for me this month, a good run has ended with wins every month from October to January on just over £25k.

Graciebobcat · 02/02/2021 03:37

I've never won in 45 years, but I only have like a £20 premium bond or something.

iveturnedintoachip · 02/02/2021 06:50

It's for our next property & the money is to help with stamp duty & costs, work as I want a (small) project.

We ideally will do it in the next 6 months so I need quick access to the money. Im saving about 2k a month now so thought PB might be better than current account?

Dinosauraddict · 02/02/2021 06:52

My app is saying try later and has been doing so since midnight. Very odd. Hmm

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/02/2021 06:54

My app saying the same

AaronPurr · 02/02/2021 06:56

@justanotherneighinparadise

My app saying the same
Same here.
iveturnedintoachip · 02/02/2021 07:01

We have equity but will need every penny. If it all sounds a bit rushed it is! Lockdown has changed our mindset & we want to move further out in london for bigger garden, more ground living space. This was never really our plan, we originally were only going to look at moving (in the same zone 2/3) in 5/6 yrs.

Clickncollect · 02/02/2021 07:03

My app is still showing as try later

HelpMeh · 02/02/2021 07:11

My app also not computing. It does this periodically. If you sign in on website you'll be able to see but I don't think I can be bothered... I'll await the surprise...

JayAlfredPrufrock · 02/02/2021 07:14

Not just me then with the App not working.

Clickncollect · 02/02/2021 07:28

Just went onto the website and can see I’ve won £75 (on a holding of 46k) - had to get my holders number from my online account rather than the ns&i number
