Anyone do any proofreading? I often do it for work but I've been offered a chance to do some proofreading for a charity and they've asked me what I charge per hour. The institute for proofreaders say £25 per hour but I don't think I could charge this as I'm not a pro!

Someone I know charges £2.50 per thousand words for fiction but this is for a subject area I don't really know and it might take me a while to read through. I was thinking £18 per hour. Any thoughts?

I am a freelance copy editor and freelancer. I charge £25 per hour for full copy-editing (government and finance) work, but £18 is closer to the mark for proofreading.

Well done @Horehound! Sounds like you've found your calling. I worked for Rev for a bit but I found that I spent too long double checking that everything was perfect etc, that even the short tasks ended up taking ages. Also I spent a long time choosing my audio clips so that made it more time consuming too, but I am pretty OCD about this stuff so I can see others making more money and more easily. I may get back into it though - it's nice to have the option to.

Yeah, just seen that on chat. I've sent a message to them! Typical the one project they don't want you to go fast!

@0htooooodles I was taking my time and I've no idea how many I had done before it said I've completed my task and locked me out but I was watching my time carefully. I've messaged them. Let me know how you get on.

@Gatekeeper it was ages ago. Around the beginning of the year, I think. So I'm assuming they have enough applicants so it's not there.

@seizethecuttlefish it was only a set of 10 each, so you might have done your ten? I had that page when I finished .

I started on Appen in January and it’s only now that I seem to be getting on a few projects at the same time. It does bear fruition I think eventually.

Just did 2 minutes and 50 seconds on the Appen task before it told me I was done. Not sure really what that project is aiming to achieve or whether I'll get paid the $0.42 I should have earned for that

I think it's search engine stuff. If someone searches for [the question] they want to show adverts for local [our answer].

@tootyfruitypickle I've emailed them as it's now locked me out and I can't see history, which people on chat are saying they can see. Should have kept track of how many I'd done lol. Was going so slow. Even when it was an obvious answer I was putting in notes to slow me down. 🤣

I got blocked from At&*s too. I think I was too fast because I knew immediately that I could say for sure what it was. I have also emailed them.

Potato people. Anyone think you're suddenly earning much less? Wondering if the rates have changed. I track the time I spend and according to the figures I've gone from 10/hr last month to 6 this month.

I was up when the At* email came and got onto it immediately I only did 10, but thats the amount the email said there was.

Still cant get on News* survey and I'm one of a few who haven't had the KN** DSID sent despite getting the look out for the apple email. Grrr
